Joe and Jo would have known each other in KC in the 1930s. True originals both of them, as are Milt and Slam. I saw Slam playing with Benny Goodman in 1973. This music demonstrates that the true origins of rock n' roll lie in places like Kansas City and New Orleans and in the music that grew out of the swing era.

Milt, usually on organ but here piano is a bit of a rarity. Big Joe one of the Jazziest Blues-Trooper giving here his very passionate best. Recorded for the iconic French “Black&Blue” label who recorded lots of famous visiting/expats American Jazz/Blues men during the definite hey-days of post WW2 years till about the ‘80’s. Just get the vibe of “Cherry Red”. Just a great album and thanks for this upload. Dig/Enjoy/Cheers!
