Came out great! I never tried any grind like that and it does look very intimidating :') Love the "ghost" line between the layers. Lovely dagger
Thank you! I don't think I will make another one anytime soon! It was tough
@@Aleeknives very nice work!
Un-freaking-believable! Beautiful! Love it man! Wish I would have come across this contest sooner so I could have voted.
That is so beautiful!
The mammoth tusk. Wow. When I was like 8 my dad and I were on the Tanana River in Alaska going for our moose for the year.
We got out and investigated some tracks on the river bank, went in a little further and there was a small depression where the river when it was higher had cleared out a lot of debris, dirt etc.
I found- you guessed it. Mammoth tusk abd bone!
That is literally a dream come true Chloe! I hear stories of people finding them along the river banks here in Kansas also. You bet I am always looking! Please take the time to click the link and vote!

What an amazing build and final product! Great work on the bevel grind. Lesser men would have left it a bit wobbly but your attention to detail is obvious. Beautiful dagger!
Thank you for noticing!
Awesome build! I am currently collaborating a byzantine dagger in Damascus build with my apprentice and this dagger is what inspired our collab.
That is really cool!
Fabulous work! I can say, if it were in a contest and if everyone were asked after the fact which blade would have been the most intimidating blade if it were pulled on them in a dark alley, I'm positive that Yours would win hands down! Not only would it be the shape of the blade but also the length! that is one long dagger, and a seriously intimidating one at that! The Mammoth Ivory handle is beautiful and I'm sure you'll be glad to have that work of art hanging on display in your home! The dying of the Curly maple I think was a mistake, the handle of the dagger is beautifully white and having a curly maple sheath would have only complimented the handle, but either way, the wood sheath is fantastic as well, and the way you made the belt loop for it and attached it to the sheath is beautiful as well. Good luck on the challenge!
Thank you! I agree 100% about the maple and that was my original intention but when I oiled it it turned yellow. I sanded it back and tried to use shellac and it turned yellow, I sanded it back and tried lacquer and it also turned yellow. It just would stay the right color and I felt that the black was better than the yellow
Thank you!

I love this dagger challenge! It has given me an opportunity to discover so many new extraordinary smiths to watch and enjoy. Without doubt all of you are incredible craftsmen, and it is a pleasure to see the different interpretations of this challenge and variety of creative forces at work. I was familiar with Tyrell and Wieringa but have added so many more to the line up. Aleeknives, wonderful piece! This I love. This is perfection. And thank you for going the extra mile to make a sheath. A blade is not finished until it has a place to call home.
Agreed!
Your choice of material for the hilt sealed this for me,its form is quite clocklike, and ,given the source of the ivory, genuinely creates a timeless art piece.Exquisite.

Beautiful dagger. Love that tusk and the cat.
Aleeknives ... this is truly an amazing kris dagger. There are so many great features, techniques, and (dare I say) TIME used to make this blade. The stunning mammoth tusk handle with maple scabbard and leather sheath certainly take it to one of the best. Just a fantastic build ... one in which to take pride.
Thank you Byron! I appreciate that
Definitely looking forward to the complete build.

Well, I’ve watched most of the builds (I must say that the std is VERY high) but I think that this is my favourite. Superb piece sir.
Thank you Steve! Please be sure to vote sir

That is gorgeous!
Thank you Witten!
Beautiful work. I wondered if an ashe scabbard wouldn't have matched the fossil tusk with the dark leather trim setting ot off. Too bad I didn't get to watch this before the voting but you've earned a sub.
Thanks man! I 100% agree with you on the lighter wood! This one started out as white curly maple but it kept turning yellow on me so I dyed it black. Holly would have been another good choice
Beautiful work, absolutely stunning!
Thank you CG!

Thanks man! What did you think of that blade?
