Go NIO!! Less than 4 minutes to swap a battery - amazing technology
The guy wanting a photo at ~23:30 is me @Bjørn 😅
Not Swedish, nor with an ID3. But with the red M3 Highland next to the ID3. Got the Highland based also on all the tests and videos you’re posting. 🙏🏼
Figured you’re racing, maybe I’ll catch you some other time. Keep doing what you’re doing. 👌🏻
Sorry that I couldn't get out of the car. Maybe next time then :)
Hopefully NIO’s ONVO L60 could be available in Norway soon. It’s power consumption is much lower with 900V architecture and still have battery swap.
If you look under the car close to the door you will se the battery bolt. If the bolt bracket is square, it's gen 1 and if it's circular it's gen 2.
😲😄
This is true! I check after every swap 😅 Check with selfie cam, quick and easy
Like a Ninja 😂
insane, if battery swap infrastructure becomes a lot more common this is really the future, 4 mins to go from 1% to 95%, this is life changing especially for trucks
Awesome! Now this is a proper range review! You got no range anxiety at all!!!
23:52 I would say faster than refuelling… as no need to go in to the shop to pay, walk outside and potentially get wet if bad weather, no dirty/smelly hands, etc…
Power Swap Stations are unbeatable on this.
Why would you go inside to pay?
@@MartinJansson-o9h because in 90% of petrol stations in the Uk you have to go inside the shop to pay for your fuel. You can’t pay at the pump.
@@ericvet8bthey just want you to go inside to buy candy and a drink 🙈
@@namanverdu exactly!! Much more margin on shopping than on fuel for the station.
The EL8 is a lovely SUV, we really enjoyed test driving it. Could have been our next vehicle, but our NIO Service experience has been a disaster, with almost one service appointment per month on average for our ET7. From rusting doors, to catching a self rolling odometer (really), etc.,we've faced the brunt of it. Unfortunate, as many others go happily without problems, something we wished we could have as well. The brand ethos, technology and design is awesome, but what we've had to deal with has taken us away from trusting NIO.
@@Tiauguinho This I can understand. The ET7 was rushed to the market and had way too many problems😪
Was this the first batch that was sent to Europe?
@@Hakkolinen No, our ET7 is with us since late December 2023.
@@Tiauguinho Sorry to hear that. Hope it works out for you!
I'm so sorry to hear that, I had a few hiccups with my ET5 as well, gear knob needed to be replaced, and a camera, but after that it has been perfect! 2023 as well. My old model 3 was in the shop 4 times, and my bmw before that 3 times. The model s i bought in 2017... i cant even count how many times i brought it in!
Most of your beautiful country doesn’t even has a left lane 😂
Greetings from Germany Bro
Gen1 (100A) and Gen2 (100B) battery can no t be determined by battery health monitoring since it is adjusted to batty type. Only way to determine from inside the vehicle, if you get over 120kW in full regen. Cool car and nice test as always 👍
No you can take a picture under the car and see the plate around the bolt holes. If the plate is square you have 100A battery and when you have a round plate it's 100B :D
26:02 These "mandatory stops" happen to me a lot during "power journeys" 🤣
Did you see that Nissan is adding a left-lane hugger warning to their software? There goes all their sales in Norway ;-)
There are already gen4 swap station and do it in 2:30 min
No that's the ONVO L60 only. Nio cars are a bit slower still
@@namanverdu no. GEN 4 PSS serve NIO and Onvo, the swap is independent of the car.
New music? Haven't heard that before. I like it.
You can select battery from Nio app in China, even the new long range 150kwh , did you try the app? Thanks
I don’t think you can choose the batter version only the type 75kWh, 100 kWh and 150 kWh. In Europe only 75 kWh and 100 kWh available.
Does anyone know when/if we get the 150kWh battery in Europe?
So how would you rate the EL8 vs the EV9? EV9 is cheaper, has the same amount of seats, also ventilated seats in the back, but no massage. Also not that fast, but it charges faster.
Slower from 10-80% check the tests.
And remember no Air suspensión nor swap. 😅
wonder why is the swapstation not designed for drivetrough?
Takes up more space. In some places in China there are swap stations that do allow this.😊
At the first glance I like the idea of swap stations but the more I think about it the less sense it makes. It will never be cheaper than charging and the time saved is limited.
These are the main disadvantages I am seeing in comparison to superchargers:
- Nio has to own at least twice as many batteries as nr of cars.
- The cost of building a swap station is higher
- Swap stations have moving parts and therefore require more service
- Larger land use requirements = higher rent
- Limited ability to handle high traffic
- Limited customer base compared to an open supercharger network.
These costs will eventually be passed down to the customer. It might be viable as a premium service but I think it would do Nio well to abandon the ship before their money runs out
No, Nio doesn't need two times battery vs cars. They only need 3 % more.
If everyone decides to subscribe then Nio will indeed have to own twice as many batteries as cars. You are right about 3% more, if the batteries installed in cars are excluded.
There are so many lies in your comment that I don't know where to begin. 😅
@@Alberto-xw8vx Well please inform me then. Im not saying battery swapping has no advantages but I do think it will be difficult to compete with fast charging
can't wait for the day, you get your hands on a model X Long Range Palladium... in 5-15degrees it for sure getting a 9:20-9:30
Does anyone know when/if we get the 150kWh battery in Europe?
Why was there no livestream of this 1000km challenge?
Problems with Streamlabs
A battery swap, in general, should be as easy as this. At the moment, replacing a dead battery pack after 8-10 years is difficult and more costly than needed.
no, u are wrong. Costly: You can calculate it by yourself with the monthly fee to nio for renting the battery.
@@LittleSpot Look, i don't want to hire stuff, especially not from a tyrant regime. Read "Age of access". You have to own things to stay independent from god knows who.
A battery pack is not dead after 8-10 years though. Most original Tesla Roadsters from 16 years ago are still rolling on the original batteries.
what happened to Marcusbil ?
it's a shame nio doesn't have a clear indicator of which gen battery they're swapping into the car, considering it literally halves the charging speed that makes this gen viable at all for travelling outside of the swap network area if you get unlucky with a Gen 1 battery
You can spot the difference between 100a and 100b batteries without charging by: 1) 100b has round bolt recess holes while on 100a they are square. 2) 100b has higher regeneration above 150kw.
@@Tiauguinho great, but you can't see the bolts without physically looking under the car and if you didn't know about the regen/charging then you assume there's a problem
@@somehownick Of course, but I'm just providing alternatives to their lack of clarity on the UX in showing what battery version the car has.
And since most cars is gen 1 cars, the risk of getting a old battery is very high.
6:25 How much faster NIO swap stations would be if they just made them pull through! How did they overlook this? Park, futz, futz, futz, auto park in the swap station adds 2:00 minutes.
They probably designed the swap stations for China with less space available in the cities.
Now we just need a cost comparison of swapping vs. plugging in.
I somehow get the feeling that for the few minutes gained it isn't worth it.
BaaS includes 2 free swaps per month (only swap fee, not the kWh)
www.nio.com/sv_SE/news/202312140000
"In Process" should be "In Progress"
Effiiciency is the magis word.
What if tesla had battery swap stations, then you have one of the best Efficient cars. What 1000km time would you get then😂
in a price point this Nios are maybe a threat against the german carmakers. But battery swap is a not necessary feature.
Shows also that battery swap gives absolut no major advantage on road trips at all :D
@@kenion2166 Major advantage using 150kWh pack running 800km stretches on the motorway. This is how they use it in China.
Problem with NIO is the leasing prices are extremly high. 900€ / month for a small ET5 is insane. Also the tech in ET5 is old an not nearly on par with the EL8.
ET5 and EL8 share the same software platform
What is so old with the ET5?
@@Hakkolinen No Matrix Light, no Headup display, charges max 180KW, very inefficient drive chain (older), and much more
@@projectneo9269 And "much" more
14:26 bit more efficient. But hard when it’s so massive.
I looked it up. Rain is illegal in CHINA. Foreign data is okay though. BTW, here in North America if you pee on the TesSC handle it charges faster, so that’s what we all do here.
I saw a video where Nio cars overreport the distance.
39:22 and you need to stop for pee…
Grest review! So the question that remains what is the residual value of a NIO after three years? In Sweden ET7s drop 20 percent per year.
That is not that bad. Eqs and i7 drop more than 50% in two years🤔
only 20%?
Can u test Togg T10X, a Turkish car Bjørn? We are the biggest EV users group in Türkiye and we would be happy to help if u can come here for test.
Car is only sold in Turkiye, how exacly he would test it in Norway?
zor ama bjorn un testini izlemek güzel olurdu. belki yurtdışı piyasasına açıldıktan sonra bir test görebiliriz belli olmaz.
@@tanernone3033 This's why we wrote "we would be happy to help if u can come here for test". Also, there some people traveling in Europe with their cars. Maybe they can contact with him.
@@Egemeng. Evet, kendisini uzun zamandır takip ediyoruz. Testleri ve görüşleri çok faydalı.
wow 1:51 let's hammer it...
what does it mean? In Germany 200 km/h or even faster ... ;-)
NIO battery swap with leaving the car: ruclips.net/video/lgRfnc6GxoI/видео.html
Yes I can verify that as I am driving an ES6 in China.
Even with battery swap only 15 min quicker than ID.7, but super high consumption.😅 Ok at lower temperatures, but still not too impressive for a 100 kWh battery. Develop an efficient car like ID. Models with 800 V and it's over for battery swap.
Talking about id7 when he is actually reviewing a car.😅 Soon id7 will be worth nothing when the company is out of business, give it 5 years max. And no, the German government are unable to help them because they are also out of money.😊
How can you compare a car that's much smaller, it's like saying a land rover idea more fuel than a clio
@oxidalpha6350 It is a totally different car. Very small filled with cheap plastics. 🤭
@@Lucas-wp2ph If you think the German government is out of money then you don't understand politics / the financial system and our "Schwarze Null" the last years.
In the norwegian Nio owners group there are serveral people that have experienced problems with bolts during swap or after. So it seems that the 100.000 cycles is not always true.
Checking the group now and I see it in fact has been that large problem that Nio has been out of stock for new bolts. People not beeing able to swap in 6 weeks because of defect bolts and Nio did not have any bolts to replace it with.
@@evkx naaa, bolds - schmodls... Why making such a problem out of a missing bold...it worked fine in boeings planes...for a while.🤣
There are 2000 NIOs on Norwegian roads. The sample size you refer to it's not representative. Not even by a long shot.
@@Hakkolinen the 2568 Nios on the Norwegian roads are probably less than 1% of the Nios sold worldwide, but the number itself is probably large enough to be an indication. But the environment in Norway with snow, ice and salt is probably much tougher than other countries where they dont have rain or snow.
@@evkx But you're basing your statement on a handful of these in a internet based group. It is therefore not representative. Not even by a long shot.
❤❤❤
This is really amazing technology. But why aren't the swap stations open 24/7? I assume they run fully automated, so it's not obvious for me.
It's not only the sales price, but the after sales service and long term quality. I saw some NIO in Germany, charging next to my "fat e-tron". Their built quality is terrible. There are a lot of moving plastic parts around the car body, not comparable to German cars.
You did not see a NIO then. When you sit in both you see that everything about the NIO is better built than the Audi.🙂
@@Lucas-wp2ph I saw them from inside and outside. One of them already has lost the frame of the window. If you have to describe this brand in one word, then it's "cheap"!
@@axelrolle8150 This car must have been in an accident. 😂
I do not know rick..., but It seems false... 😂
German RUclipsr „Plaid Tech“ talked to an Engineer about the difference between A and B 100kwh.. Typ A has a hole you will feel underneath the drivers door, Typ B is completely flat.. give it a try and show us, thanks
To me it's just a useless concept. In a few years the swap stations will eiter be long gone or not compatible with this model. Also you should be pretty lucky to find a station when you need it.
It's on the contrary, there would be almost nobody charging. 😊
@@Alberto-xw8vx Good luck with that dream. It could work if all cars use the same battery and fixtures. Within 10 years their all gone. Most people charge home anyway and the plugged charging is already fast enough for most people.
You cant say its a good value for money because in 2 years this will be worth like 35k 😂
