Beautiful !!!! I so love to hear this song played on a guitar , I had a boyfriend when I was young who played and if I didn't know better I would think it was him playing . Thanks for the memory !!!!🤩🤩❤❤❤
This was my favorite song my uncle used to play when i was young every time he had a guitar in his hand id ask him to pick me the wild wood flower those were good memories
Thank you for checking out my channel. That's a very fond memory. Wild Wood Flower is a very good song for me as well, and I have many fond memories of it. I want to keep playing it forever.
One of the first songs I learned to play a guitar picking. Was this song a teacher took at least 4 hours just working on this with a small group of us and we all learned it. Still Plat it age 76
I can remember my dad playing this song on his acoustic guitar. I use to sit and watch& listen to him play this song.......REST IN PEACE DAD.. I WILL LOVE YOU ALWAY'S.
@@nissing15 Born and raised in the south myself with Confederate heritage and related to Robert E Lee anyways this is great I'm originally from Shelby North Carolina I've been to Virginia and Tennessee a bunch of times you got some good playing

I cant stop Liston to him playing My Dad played this for all 5 of us kids when we was little he past away 12/23/1983 this was the last thing he ever played
Same experience with me! My dad grew up in Boone county WV. He always played this when we were pickin' and grinnin'. I lost him about a month ago. This song reminds me of him so much. I need to learn it really well so I can go visit my WV relatives and sit and play it with them. I've lived in NC most of my life, but after losing my dad I've really wanted to embrace my WV Appalachian heritage. I love this song so much!
Do this soon. We always think we have 'more time' until it runs out. As we grow older we appreciate things like this more. We realize how important our family is. Enjoy the time you have with them 'pickin and grinnin'
my dad would play this one all the time when I was little. Still to this day it calms my nerves and takes me back to when I was only 3. I hope one day I can share this with my child when I have one.
My dad past in 2020 and this was one of the first songs he learned on the guitar back in the 60’s. I always remember him playing this growing up. I have heard a lot of versions of this song but when I listen to yours and close my eyes it sounds exactly like my dad. Thank you for sharing!
My dad used to play this often. He passed in 2016 and today was the first time I’ve heard it in years. Sunday’s were always dads day, so I’m extra happy that I found a video of someone playing this almost exactly as he did.
I have to listen to this every so often. My brother used to play this and this is as close as I could come to how he played. Thanks so much for posting this. Love it!
My grandpa used to pic this out all the time, whenever my two uncles (his sons) would visit him and my grandma on Sundays. I think it was his favorite. 😊 Brings back memories
Ain't that the truth. My old grandad was the same. I play alot of hard rock and 80s heavy metal as well as outlaw country these days and I can't fake my way through old songs like this one and my favorite, Red River Valley. But I'll be damned if I can ever figure out how to pick like my grandpa did.
VERY Nicely done...remember it around extended family n friends campfires growing up.....our "Uncle Bill" always played this every time...often at least 3 times...as he was closing and asked for requests....I always asked for this..and he always Obliged...sometimes a bit weary, but ALWAYS with a smile....he helped install and expand my personal love of Music..and put me singing... great memories....THX
First song I ever learned to play and I learned it by one note at a time off an original 78 rpm record by the Carters..... I wish I had a dime for every time I played in in my 80 years of life....
This is music to my ears! My dad taught me how to play guitar and this is the first song that i learned. You hit every note dead on! I love your style, so crisp and clean and really enjoyable! Keep up the real nice picking.
N15 Hi, everyone whose commented loves listening to your Wildwood Flower as do I, and listen to MMCarter every night, why? To cheer me to bedtime. Thank you for your song.
I love listening to you play it, you capture the perfectness of the original song without adding a lot of fills like the other versions I love your version good job
nissing15 You’re very welcome. I saved it so I can hear it anytime. My favorite song. My mother would play it for me, when I was a child, on her Martin, as I sat at her feet with my ear against her guitar-to hear All of it. You play it like she did. Beautifully.
Your version of Wildwood Flower is about as close as I have heard to the way my brother used to play it. I loved to hear him play and to this day I think of him with goosebumps every time I hear someone play it on an acoustic guitar. Thank you. :0)
+nissing15 I am learning this on the guitar and am wondering if you have any tips you can share. I have the melody down, just having trouble with strumming and keeping the rhythm with it. Do you have the original version? I'd to slow it down to see what exactly you are doing.
Was trying to find a version that sounded like my uncle used to play and I simply could not! All were slightly wrong. You have played it the way my uncle Frank did and how it was meant to be played and so beautifully too!
this is an amazing wildwood flower. Your precision is incredible and this video inspired this to be the first song i learn. It's been a year since i first started now an I've become pretty darn good
That guitar looks so much like my dad's old Yamaha FG-180. I don't know much about all the models there are out there.. But it sure reminds me of it, and how he used to play this very song on it when I was little, before I learned it myself.
Sounds just like my Dad's playing.....R.I.P. DAD. LOVE YOU FOREVER AND ALWAYS.
