I remember the CBC commentators raved about G&P's free dance because apparently it looked amazing in practice. It fell very flat here but there's no questioning the content. I wonder how it would have looked if it hadn't been for their injury time off for most of the season.
As for the other two teams, definitely not their best work. I actually had both Anissina & Peizerat and Bourne & Kraatz ahead of both teams in that portion of the competition.

Yes, I think Evgeny's knee injury affected the execution of this free dance. The middle section paled in comparison to the opening and ending in terms of energy and sharpness and was too obvious as a rest, perhaps to compensate for the lack of training time. Interestingly, I found this particularly camera angle of the official broadcaster (not so front on), compared to the North American broadcasters, to be way more forgiving in disguising the weaker aspects. I had a better impression of this performance as a result, having not seen the NA versions until recently. I thought the concept had moments of brilliance (especially the opening) and it still delivered in terms of classic G&P "flying by the seat of your pants", albeit in shades.
