  • The backlash against ULEZ since it was expanded has been unbelievable.
    We’ve seen vigilantes taking down ulez cameras, the Tories chalked up their win in the Uxbridge and South Ruislip by-election to it and it’s become the defining issue of the London mayoral election, with Tory candidate and Sadiq Khan’s closest rival in the polls Susan Hall promising to scrap it on day one if she becomes mayor.
    Sadiq Khan has called Susan hall the most dangerous opponent he’s faced in politics but his lead in the polls is narrowing.
    Ed Campbell went to meet the people who want to see an end to Khan's mayoralty and his flagship policy.

    Why didn’t you bring up Boris Johnson wanted to bring in ULEZ first ? Why didn’t you push back more against the woman who said air quality is good in the countryside? What about in the city? People die of bad air quality. You need to push back more against these idiots.

      If he pushes against these idiots then they kick him out and potentially hurt him. They mentioned in the podcast recently just how good Ed is at these voxpops because he rides the line between angering them and agreeing with them. A lot of protests like this actually fight back against "Legacy media" and anyone that could be suspected of spreading "fake news". With Ed not pushing back more we get to see just how fucking stupid this morons are, we get to see just how ridiculous the situation on the ground is. There was the point with the guy in the Palestine march and Ed said: "Let's not antagonise him." He said that because the man would just continue marching, Ed would be stuck there for the rest of it with a pissed off idiot and a bunch of idiots that agree with him. Intelligence is useful right up until the fists start swinging, then all your points and arguments become null. Less intelligent people have less intelligent reactions to their emotions.

If he provokes them they will just refuse to talk as many right wingers and conspiracy theorists tend to do when confronted with people who disagree with them. From the off, ULEZ is a bad policy, well intentioned, but badly implemented.
    Either ban the vehicles that are causing these issues, and scrap them at their current value (for people within the zone) or it's hard to defend this isn't just for revenue from those least likely to afford it.

      @philthrelfall5294 I agree, but either children are dying of pollution or they aren't. What would the acceptable price be to allow kids to get asthma?
      I agree it's a bad policy. Get rid of the cars without the burden hitting the poorest. Currently, this looks like a money grab where those affected most are those with older cars, typically the poorest, and it's not really fixing the issue.

    • @philthrelfall5294
      @philthrelfall5294 9 дней назад +1
