    I have some engineering software that will use all the cores/threads available as well as all the memory available. Sounds like a 7950x or a 9900x might be what I need. I'm not sure the 9950x is worth the extra cost.

    I wish AMD would price threadripper sensibly.. it burns me up it's cheaper to cluster 9950's than use a threadripper :( Price for +100% memory lanes/cores should be LESS than double an equivalent ryzen system not more than double uugh

      Threadripper is priced sensibly - its price competitive with Xeon
      If they AMD is selling everything it can make at the current price, it is priced sensibly
      As the video mentioned, the 9950X is the budget version of Threadripper.
      If anything, its the 9000 series that needs a price cut - It is not selling well
      It is possible that the demand for the 9950X at the current price will increase if the massively improved AVX-512 performance is applicable to enough real workloads
