Randy is awesome couldn't ask for a better announcer and rep for bowling over all, love the knowledge he shares and the witty commentary, stuff like that ball went out for a burger and fries and came back with steak & potatoe...lol can't wait for some new ones this season! Thx for all you do for Bowling Randy.

The 2 handed timing for the 5 step. Is that yor start your swing at the 3rd step, or when your long 3rd step tuches the ground the vall should be pararell to the ground at the bottom. But you have a great tutorial series and I really like watching them so keep it up, you have been a legend in the sports for a long time. Thank you Randy👍😄

Thanks for all the great tips, Randy. I'm still working on a lot of thing, especially having a softer follow through and a more consistent release. Consistency is one of the things I have struggled with more than anything.

YES. I recently transitioned from one hand thumbless to conventional with my thumb, I needed this to help with my overall technique. Randy is the man 😤🔥

Thanks for the tips Randy and I'll add in here that regarding the approach Sean Rash has always said if it doesn't feel right don't do it that's why I find myself putting the breaks on when my timing is off going up to the foul line

Sean Rash is a great bowler - except for when he balks. It really detracts from the show. As soon as that happens I root for Mr. Rash's opponent. I am super committed to my shot and hope it becomes a bomb to the pocket. I don't play any mental games that cause me to second guess and back off. That 16 pound baby is going to fly whether it is a great shot or not.

I love the video. Like you, techniques have changed. My real issue now is that I am 80 yrs old and
it is hard to apply consistently the necessary changes. Do you have any suggestions?

Its pretty funny how established bowlers have been going back to 4 and 5 step...6 step approaches used to be the most common on tour in the 90s and early 2000s.

And don't have late timing and have thumb insert come out, I basically threw the ball directly into ankle and have been in excruciating pain for weeks. Fractures, bruised from calf to bottom of toes, with fracture blisters forming and becoming infected on top of that. Broke my back a few years ago, this is so much more painful.

I would say one key, to speed, is the elevation of the ball, in the beginning. See that most PBA bowlers start around the same height? As a teen I tried 3-step approach, after seeing an older bowler have success with it. Not that easy to switch from 4-step. Pushaway is a major key to speed. Start 'high' roll a faster ball~~~~! Randy has been a great commentator for years now.

Is it possible to have too deep of a crossover step?

  • @RWTurek

I don't understand the little tip at 4:13. It says if you feel your feet are fast then you are getting the ball into the swing too early, if they feel slow you are NOT getting the ball into the swing soon enough. These seems opposite to logic. If you swing too early shouldn't that means your feet are late which is the same as your feet are too slow.

I may be wrong but I think if you get the ball into the swing too early then your feet need to catch up which makes them too fast

  • @JSBowling2011

In the beginning Randy talks about pushing your ball on the second step in a five step approach but yet he shows Chris Barnes moving his ball on the third step. Everybody’s different but that was a poor example to begin with.

How about talking real loud during the telecast in someones approach. How do you deal with a narcissistic person like you Randy? AJ Johnson wants to know. 😂

Hack??? The guy is only in the bowling Hall of Fame. Also voted one of the 50 greatest bowlers in PBA history. He has 14 more PBA titles than you (or I) will ever have.

You would first need a claim to fame which you don’t have, so there’s always that.

Randy Peterson is a class act, I have never heard him talk about himself in a prideful manner. Not sure what shows you are watching. Would like like a cup of coffee to go with that sweet roll ?
