You are SO fortunate in the UK to have such lovely napkins! The US has cheap solids or cartoon characters in our grocery stores! What a fantastic way to use scrap tissue paper, napkins... even scrap tulles and embellished silk! BRILLIANT...as always! ❤️
Hello nina, love the word flimsy ( written like this?) Besides inspiration I get from watching you, it also makes my english better . The altered cards , beautiful. Napkins are so beautiful sometimes and I always keep my eyes open, when in a restaurant or with friends and my neighbour sometimes brings me one, she knows I collect them, so sweet of her. Next time I will send you something I will include some nice napkins I have picked up recently.. Thank you for this extra video, always a nice surprise. See you un sunday again, love and hugs lenaxxx
Hello Lena, Yes you spelt it correctly haha. I will include some napkins for you too as I have some beauties that may enjoy using. Enjoy the rest of your week. Love and hugs, Nina 💕 xxxx
Just so cool, Nina. Playing cards are wonderful to work with. I made several books with them last year, filled them with stamped images, stickers and quotes to cheer friends up while in lockdown. Hope they didn't have the opposite effect!! Have used napkins for decorating lit wine bottles which are good to do and the wine bottles have to be emptied, which is always a chore, not! These are really beautifully decorated, Nina and I will be inspired yet again by your lovely work. Thanks for sharing. x
These colors are so deep and rich. Beautiful altered cards. I don’t run across as many awesome napkins as you have either. My coolest ones are from happy mail.
Nina, what excellent ideas! Thank you for this. I like that your tripled the cards together for strength and LOVED those napkins of yours! The 3D effect just pushed the idea over the top. Beautiful creations, Nina!
Thank you so much Nina, I really really enjoyed watching you create these stunning and gorgeous altered playing cards ♥️. I would frame them and put them on display because they are to incredible to put away, or send out as a swap. And they would certainly make a fantastic display for any wall. Please stay safe and well too xxx Mags
Beautiful and easy to make. I like to leave the backs of my playing cards alone, too, especially when using special cards with interesting images on them. Thanks for the tutorial. ~ Lisa
These are wonderful. ATC cards are my favorite craft. After watching your last one, i ordered some as assorted rice paper to give it a try. I purchased the extra large playing cards from Amazon. Because sometimes i can't bear to cut up the larger images. Tfs. 🥰
Nina, I cannot believe it but about a month ago I saw where someone on RUclips made little journals out of playing cards and added white cardstock to each and punched holes in their sides and weaved ribbon thru it. I loved the idea and I wanted to make a mini one out of different little things my mum has given me thru the years and little cards and pieces of papers I have found in her desk when cleaning it out. My mum passed away from Pancreatic Cancer a year ago July and I am a big pack rat and can throw anything away when it comes to my mum. I reuse everything she had down to a PKG of dollies I found in her kitchen. Last year I cut them out with my cutter bee fussy cutting scissors and made mini snowflakes I suspended from dental floss I get free at the dentist. Now in my rental flat I have a large window with separate panes of glass I will resivk the snowflakes on this winter. Anyway, just a month ago I ordered a cheap pack of playing cards from Amazon and if you can believe it, they sent me a pack of cards with different cats in them and they are beautiful. The cats are of paintings from an English artist name Lisa Parker. I took out one of each car to save as we have had Siamese cats when growing up and I have had 2 black cats, growing up I had a Hymalian cat. My brother has a cool cat now. I want to frame the 8 cats I have saved and I thought the rest I will save for the mini journal but, Nina no one but me might see the journal. I am so excited this Sunday morning, October 10, 2022 at 6:12 am to see your idea. I am going to make these with the little bits of different things I have saved from my mom. In one with my mini hole punch I want to punch a hole in the bottom and hang a charm she gave me on the bottom. I want to make separate little cards to hang on my wall and temporary on my Christmas tree. My place is so small where I live and I am so sad with my mum gone I was not going to have a tree this year but maybe I will now and I can hang these in the branches or prop them up between the tree needles. People have often called me the Button girl as I make lots of crafts with buttons even earrings and I have been called the Queen of Napkins. 30 years ago as a teen if I we t to an Easter lunch I saved my napkins. I ironed them and used them as dollies in my table. I made note cards 15 years ago with diluted Elmer's Glue and cardstock and I added buttons to the middle of the flowers and very fine glitter ariund the petals or very fine orange glitter around their leaves. I have to s of napkins my mom saved for me for projects. Last Christmas my Dad gave me packages of napkins for Christmas and others laughed and I was so excited. I took an old ceramic white water pitcher and put Mod Modge on the outside, fussy cut around the dragon flies and butterflies and put them onto the can. It came out beautiful. I have yet to find napkins with a Gold Finch. That is my mum and my favorite bird. My mum loved black eyed Susans and hygrangias so I hope you find those on napkins done day. I definitely want to make your cards. I think this is an outstanding project. Thank you for all these wonderful inspirations. Fondly, Rebekah
Hello Rebekah, sorry it’s taken me so long to reply to your message. I am playing catch up following my vacation. What a super find your playing cards were. I love the idea of hanging altered playing cards from a Christmas tree. I think they would be just the perfect size and not too heavy. It’s wonderful that you are using all the things your Mum left behind in your crafting. What a great way to remember her by having all your handmade treasures around you 💕
Lovely! Couple years ago I did a 52 words of affirmation for my husband for Valentine’ Day on a deck of cards. I did sand them all down and boy did it make a mess! But they did turn out well. We were sitting in a restaurant over the border in Italy on Valentine’s Day, and I was is putting the finishing touches on him he didn’t even notice. Then I handed them to him and he said like oh those were for me!
Ninny's Napkins carries a wide assortment of napkins, mixed media supplies, and stencils. This company is out of Canada, so shipping takes longer. Really nice products though.
These are all gorgeous Nina! I am working on some but, as much as I love working small, I seem to be struggling with a creative block lately. It is inspiring and uplifting to see all of the wonderful art people are posting though!💕🇨🇦
We’ve all been there Cindy and your creativity will be back with you again soon. We all need a rest and I am sure it’s just our minds telling us so ❤️❤️❤️
I love these cards and agree with glueing 3 cards together for extra sturdiness Nina, you didn't mention what type of glue you used to glue your cards together. Is there a preferred type?

We are so lucky with our supermarkets here. They don’t stock many, but they do change the selection regularly and tend to be more seasonal 💕

I think that’s where I had mine from 💕

So beautiful Nina, thank you for sharing❤️
Which kind of glue do you use?
My preferred glue is Windsor & Newton Galleria Matte Medium.

I searched every term I could think of for that curved emery board tool. What is it called? I am in the U.S. Can't seem to find it online.
Hi Gina, it’s called a curved ergonomic emery board, but to be honest, I wouldn’t recommend it. The flat ones are much easier to use 💕
👍😆👍
Love these!
Thanks Sherry. Altered playing cards are always fun to do ❤️
