I'm honestly wondering why 99.99% of Manor Lord videos on youtube focus on the combat. That's the like the least interesting thing to me about Manor Lords. I want to manage a village and work on trade, relationships, etc. That's way more fun. The combat is just icing on the cake, so to speak.
Has to do with their marketing team; they gifted this game to Total War content creators like Legends of Total War and Pixelated Apollo etc, with free helmets. They are targeting combat-focused audiences. Needless to say, the majority but not all of Total War fans wanted a new change, and this gave them hope to retaliate against CA.
I think it all is equaly important, nether part would work without the other. If you remove one of the things the game is not what it is.
@@TheLibrarianSC I'm sure they did because that was the smart thing to do. The hype from Total War fans about Manor Lords started long before the recent wave of Total War RUclipsrs posting videos about Manor Lords. It's a playerbase that is just so done with the studio behind the game. Everyone is looking for a competitor to rise up and force Creative Assembly to release better games, especially historical Total War fans, who've waited a LONG time for a medieval Total War game.
I agree. This game is about managing the economy not fighting. That is what I prefer. I do hope more resources will eventually be added. I feel this game is a bit like Farthest Frontier in a way. There are enemy camps that can produce enemies to annoy you a bit but not a full combat game. I personally look forward to this game, but I think price might play a part at the moment.
@dragonflykm3050 I'm also looking forward the managing part but in all honesty I love the fights part of Total wars so I'm looking for that part too. In a ideal scenario, I would like all that with being able to have a map doing the reconquista of Iberia against the moors and eventually bring able to conquer Europe. All that mixed together would be perfect to me
I don't think they have anything to worry about at all. I think the vast majority of the players looking forward to Manor Lords, like myself, have jumped off the Cities Skylines 2 train out of sheer disappointment and Manor Lords is really looking like the next big city builder for at least a few years to come. The combat will be just enough to please the Total War fans. There's absolutely nothing to worry about. I just think what we're seeing here are two or more very starved fan bases all coming together to enjoy this game that seems to be checking quite a lot of boxes.
You also have elements from Banished and Ostriv in there. If you're a fan of those two, Manor Lords is also checking those boxes. This is the first time I've seen a game shoot right up to the top of the wish lists but there really isn't any overhype involved at all. It's up there purely because many different audiences are all seeing something that they like packed into this one great looking game.
the game isn't a citybuilder, it's a medieval manor/village manager with rts elements.
@@cagneybillingsley2165The developer itself explain in the steam it's a small scale citybuilder
Marketing tripple A: Yes this is like Total War, Age of Empires and City Skylines Combined! Indie Dev:
This news is good! Great communication, reaffirming of expectations, a great indicator of how things may go in the future. What are your thoughts?
honesty over money is what all game developers should strive for.
If this guy doesn't change, he might be the biggest hope the strategy game industry needed
@@1992zorro its a city builder not a strategy game. dev said so him self. it has strategy elements to it but city builder at heart. learn to read
@@geekelite9685 hey you gotta strategize where your buildings go so yah its a strategy game also dont be a jackass
I think it'll depend on the cost on Steam/Epic as to whether I pick it up.
I didn't play the latest Rimworld expansion because of the cost, and I've sunk more time into that game than any other - 500 hrs, cost is the biggest thing in picking up a game these days.
i hope it gets mod support then the dev will have community help finding bugs and fixing them as well as adding things like multiplayer different units and stuff like that
there will be no multiplayer because multiplayer is s-t-u-p-i-d in this type of game
Your 30 second intro is OUTSTANDING in its summary! :)
I’ve watched quite a bit of Manor Lords gameplay videos and I can already say that the ambience, sound design, and scenery combined with the meticulous, but organic nature in which your township grows combined with the animations of the townspeople has the potential to be the type of game that fulfills a particular niche that other games have yet to fulfill. In many ways, Manor Lords has already achieved exactly what it aimed to in the core experience, everything else is hopefully coming to enhance the baseline experience.
Manor lord is proving to us that Big corporations only care about money and not the true meaning of gaming. If I knew how to code I would definitely be making games for the people.
i mean would you tho? if you could make 100 million would you really settle for 1million? like its such an insane amount of money most people would probably choose the 100 million option even if it meant making the game pay to win with microtransactions. but yeah most people have never been in that situation so i guess well never know.
@@GGuLost1Most pay to win games fail anyway. And the 1 million would go to a single guy, not 100 divided up into a corporation where developers have a set salary and maybe a bonus after release.
You'll change your tune quick enough once you see the median income from single developer indie games.
@@Nazpazaz cuz most indie games suck with rubish graphics not llke this one
Poppycock! With that sort of backing and the money raised in the early access they should be able to develop it really well.
i kinda hope Manor Lords doesnt get multiplayer cause competitive players can be real ass'
I have been playing Farthest Frontier for the last week or so and really enjoyed it. But then I watched people playing Manor Lords and was really taken aback by the game. It's similar in some ways to Farthest Frontier but to be able to get down to ground level and get among the villagers I found enthralling. In Farthest Frontier I had the fighting turned off but in this one, I feel that I want the fighting to be in it. I love how the Lord can walk around inspecting his domain, such a cool feature. Having watched so many videos on RUclips I feel that I know how to play the game reasonably well and I look forward to it very much.
please get them to add the occasional bear
I do hope there ends up being a little more danger yeah. Not overwhelming but enough to spice up a playthrough
The dev actually inspired me to work on my own attempt at making a city builder. He is epic.
I have a feeling that over time this will be one of the masterpieces of its genre.
Creative Assembly (Total War series) must be learning a thing or two from this game. TA has just been SO stagnant since Attila and has actually gone down hill with the craptastic Pharoah. Manor looks great, love it so far!
I doubt people from Creative Assembly(Total War developer) even plays anymore.
Warhammer Total War is the most successful TW title to date and I remember Three Kingdoms selling like hotcakes. Stop spreading misinformation and personal opinions
They’ll watch Manor lords and come away with all the wrong things “Oh they want SMALLER maps and BATTLES!! And only 3 unit types!!! Oh man we’ll save so much money!! We can add every province as a dlc 15.55 and blood and gore 10.99!! Smh CA is DEAD
Can’t say I am worried at all! Grzegorz’s approach to developing this game is more than refreshing, and I feel very confident that this game will only get better as time goes on. Cannot wait to play, Early Access bugs and all! And thank you, Raptor, for all of your streams and videos on Manor Lords.
Once upon a time it was a game called Knights and merchants
One of my all time favorites
@@malefica1 I loved Knights and Merchants, as well as Caesar 3. This seems like a great game in the same vein as those classics!
Chow time!!!
CA and all the rest we can all hope that this inspires you and you return to listening to us the gamers who used to love your games.
Im not worried at all. I feel that the scale of the game is just fine. I actually DONT want massive battles of thousands of soldiers on each side. This is just right.
Sierra gamers represent!
assemble!!
assemble!!
Ooft, the memories
If this game is anything like Farthest Frontier, which is does look like it is, then I’ll play it for hours upon hours and hours.
what it is right now without a ton of ideas/features that exist in other games is just insane. just a matter of time. 👏👏👏
I think the game that Manor Lords reminds me the most of with its blend of combat, resource management, and city simulation is the Stronghold series. One of my favorite games in middle/high school and I'm sure this'll fill that hole in my mid-to-late 30s...
No worries this will be a day one buy for me
Remember the old game called Caesar? Where you can only build 6 army units? I hope a mod for Caeser is in the future
This merged with Bannerlord would be THE ONE.
Facts
This is a good statement, because with all the content creators' (yes, I admit to following others as well) videos, the hype gets bigger and bigger. Puts everyone's medieval boots/shoes on the ground, tempers the expectations for what can be, and focusses on what is. And trying to perfect that first, before jumping straight to new features and added features.
I'll def be buying this game, first day available and playing it 'as is'.
Please keep your content of this game coming, because we are all learning from it and enjoying it!
The building aspects reminds me a bit of the old Sim City (while it was still good), but with more personality, and the battles are at a scale which I (as an old LARPer really appreciate.
The point of the comment by the developer was to tell people that this is a city building game first and foremost, with SOME RTS battles. The developer also made it clear that the first person/shoulder camera is a little aesthetic bonus, but NOT where actual gameplay lies (the game is meant to be played top down). Unclear as to why Raptor made this video, he seems to ignore this part of the developers comment and only showcases the walk around feature and battle feature in this video which is what the dev is trying to avoid. I know its mostly B-roll but come on man, it just further goes against what Slavic Magic is trying to avoid people to expect.
I literally can't wait for this to come out, and i'm dying inside just a little bit watching all of these You Tubers play this early. I still remember how freaking good that demo was, I would have played just that demo for the better part of last year.
I was very appreciative of how open slavic magic was, so many game communities overhype the game themselves and aren't dissuaded by the developer (e.g. starfield and bethesda) since any conervsation was free advertisement
however Slavic is clearly wanting us to love this game, and has never let us think its something it isnt
My only question is if modders will be able to push the game into being something else, Like the base mechanics are amazing and it looks like with a bit of modding you could push it a different way, e.g. a new version of Stronghold, or pushing it into the Total War side of stuff. But the base game is truly amazing as it is.
I agree that a first/third person mode to ride into battle would be cool especially if combat, although I understand why he might not want to go down that road. Imagine engaging in combat and actually trying to help a particularly important member or your town to survive. The main thing though is that I hope that the mechanic of the individuals that populate the town also fight the battles and weapons need to be crafted in the town with resources from the town. This seems to me very immersive and I hope that this will continue throughout development. For example it would great if when cavalry comes into it, that the horses can be reared and stabled in town so that a town could actually specialize in that.
I'm a sucker for medieval pc games and city builders. Life is feudal, KCD, Crusader Kings, Total War, Farthest Frontier, Anno 1404, The Settlers.
This game is a combination of everything I want in a game. A little bit of every game I mentioned above. I'm hyped from since the demo and can't wait to play it on the 26th.
Also looking forward to updates, ideas to add (like an entertaining plot: juggling, performing, bards, etc or a jousting area). It has so much potential to be THE ultimate game (for me).
Slow and steady wins the race. It's all in the details.
I think all the gamers know exactly what it is they are getting. Gamers already understood for years what it was going to become and also with all the content of the early release through Raptor and the rest, everyone already knows. I think he just said it one last time for all the people who have just heard about it recently and haven't watched any content creators playing it. But most if not all gamers already know so it won't really affect those in the know. You know. ;-)
If I could buy it now I would buy 2 copies before I finish typing this comment - even if everything I've seen in your streams the past week were all that the game had to offer for the first year, I would STILL buy copies for myself and my brother to enjoy! I was sold on just the Steam preview build a couple years ago, that in itself would have been worthy of a $30-40 purchase and I would STILL BE PLAYING IT NOW! I just want to support Greg and fund this model of game development for a genre I didn't know I liked but now am in love with!
I have Game Pass Ultimate and could play for free on the 26th if I wanted to, but as I mentioned, as soon as the purchase option in Steam is available I am buying a copy for myself and another for my brother so I can get him into city builders!
As someone who's been playing the demo hard every weekend and to this day, I can say that even if Greg says keep your expectations in check, this early access will be amazing and I cant wait for it to be Friday!
He shoud hire people ? For Animation
@9:15 I thought the name of that area on the map was 'Wingstop' for a second.
Ye oldie land of the stopped wings.
A mighty Lord resigns there.
I hope that more than total war, or age of empires, it end up going more for a stronghold series revival. Stronghold 2 was really incredible for it's time and I haven't seen many games recreate that kind of experience since. But obviously with a some elements from some of these other great aforementioned games and things like mount and blade. Either way it's awesome he is so open to community feedback, indie games are really going into a golden age right now and big developers have lost the plot.
This game will be pure fire if you could do castle walls, buttresses, ditches, all that cool castle stuff. Hopefully one day
I couldn't care less about the combat element.
I really appreciate the honesty. This really helped me decide to not get the game. However, I respect the developer.
He's already given us so much enjoyment just watching early demo and this 2 week preview by his closer circle of reviewers. This Friday will be so much fun for the rest of us!
The potential for this game is massive, I hope this is just the start.
thanks for your content !
Really looking forward to this and so happy that my vacation time coincides with this release ! Definitely going to buy it. Played the game 2 years ago, and man... i missed it since then...
I honestly haven’t been this excited for a game in a while, took the 25th off work to play it😂
i hope for the next update , it is like in their trailer that have many region and many lord in it. Diplomacy will be the greatest feature in that game. maybe alliance ? imagine if a lord claim land then others lord counter it and make coalition to help his friend claim that land or defend that land, then big battle happen. It will be greatest game all of time.
This game is perfect for multiplayer tbh. A.I always sucks to compete against. Best you can ever do is max the difficulty which does nothing to make the A.I better, it just let's it cheat.
Imagine this game only your friends control other spots in the map. Perfect multiplayer game imo. Hell lords of the Realm did it in the 90s and it was crazy fun.
one must respect the developer for trying to clarify his game. he could ride on the hype to make much more revenue but he chose to be honest and tell us what this game is and what it's not. i was never a big city building genre because i don't have enough time but this could be the one for me
looking forward to it
great speech!
if only our public institutions were as logical and open minded about developing things. this game rocks.
This also feels like one of then old game that no one mentioned... Lords of the realm.
Did every dev just collectively agreed on releasing their games at 2024 ?, and all of them being good.
One way to head off misunderstanding of what the game is or isnt would be to put the demo out prior to or in conjunction with the rease Friday
It’s going to be on PC game pass so you can play for free if you use game pass :)
I don't see how people didn't understand that it wasn't a city builder game. It looks amazing. I'm definitely looking forward to building a city with occasional battles.
People are quick to call for multiplayer but just keep focusing on the single player experience. I don’t want to see ML experience what happened to Anthem
Ive never been so excited about a game in my entire life. Its literally the perfect city building game!
I think it will be the medieval game of my life! I exactly know what I get, I know the dev knows what he do, its is already great and can just become better!
Will this game be available on console on realese or just pc gamepass?
TMM (take my money) Slavic Magic, and thank you for developing this amazing game. I played the Demo a few moments ago when it released for a short period of time and I’ve been losing sleep ever since. Love you have my babies.
PS: I plan on playing this game on only normal speed as to savour every moment of it.
I’m 1000% buying this day one. I’m right there with you in that I’ve been waiting for a long time. This game is insane in how organic it is and I love how it doesn’t follow the path of big game devs and I think more games should follow this. I think this game is going to have a huge splash and will do great!
I'm definitely going to buy it on day 1. Doesn't matter if it's buggy or if it is still in development and is not ready. I love the idea of the game and love the videos that I've watched so far. I've been dreaming of a game like this and am excited for the future.
Oh shi.. on gamepass?? Nice!
I think i will buy the game in the first month...
I played the demo 84 years ago and loved it, been on my wishlist since then.
Should I but this? I always liked Settlers (90s)
People can't see with their eyes ? Good thing the dev made an announcement for them that this is not a total war. I was seeing people asking in chat on live streams or in youtube comments if Manor Lords combat was better than Total War Warhammer...
Many youtubers didn't help that as well. Loads of them were doing videos like "Is this the new total war?" "what can total war learn from mannor lords", etc
I will be playing kingdom come until this releases!
they already have 3rd person king perpective. If they add mount and blade combat this game will become perfection and I will buy the game
I think the game is on the right track .
It really depends on the cost as to when I will buy it.
Game dev hinted at a 30USD price point
@@hermy5086 im hoping its $30 or below cause thats how much i got saved for it lol
@@hermy5086 A fair price. HD2 for 40 was totally worth it for a non-AAA dev team with AAA quality. I'm hoping these sorts of devs show up more often as it'll hopefully over-power AAA companies and maybe make them do some quality developing for once. Maybe the good-ole days of gaming will come back to us OG gamers.
@@HighlanderJosh yeah i mean if its actually 30$ at launch i dont need a day one discount to snap buy this game lmfao i love city builders and anything that takes my attention away from cities skylines 2 is a plus in my book lol
That it's so visually pleasing is just a very nice bonus, AND THEN THERE'S THE MUSIC
The DEI crazy’s are going to go insane!
The open developer feedback loop sounds great until a million angry degenerate internet goblins all spam Greg an endless wishlish of garbage and rage when they don't all get exactly what they want.
No Calvary units ?
Not yet. The dev intends to add them :)
😮😮
This game is looking great, from a fan of city builders and total war. Just a great looking product and it's not done. Stunning.
day one purchase!
Why does EVERY game have to become a 3d RPG shooter?
Is this a day one purchase for you... im sat here waiting for the game to be avalible on steam... T-2 hours...
followed it for a long time, tried it when there where a demo of it. And I will buy it, and even if it doesn't make my expectations I think its worth the money. Especially if he continues doing what he does, because the triple A game companies has lost there connection to the people playing their games. While people like this dev and larian are making games that are made for the gamers and not the money. Of course it might change but as of now thats what makes it worth it now.
Too many creators already have it. They gave it to 1K subs big mistake.
"Potential" aside (I hate that term), Manor Lords is ALREADY the best medieval city builder available. And it has some limited combat elements, perfect.
I saw nano play this and he spammed towers as if it was New York City
I'm sorry Raptor. Your view count is about to take a significant beating on April 26th ;). Dev is managing expectations, even though everything about manor lords exceeds everyone's expectations already. Talk about a humble guy.
i was never hyped for manorlord and the developers letter to the public just reinforced why i should not be hyped, i do suspect alot of people are going to be disapointed with this game and wont enjoy just how slow it runs
This scratches the itch a lot of people have. Will there be a few disappointed people? Probably. But that's what you get if you don't look at what a game is before buying it.
It's not for everyone, but the people that want this kind of game have been wanting it for scoo long.
You know it's going to happen- complaints. This new gen of gamers NEED multiplayer. NEED constant gratification i.e. action. It is a problem in a plethora of games now. Tik tok brain rot I call it.
Just ignore it. They'll go away and left will be the gamers who known WHAT this game is. Can't wait to play!!!!!
Honestly I think releasing it to content creators so far in advance from release wrecked my hype for this game. Videos of the game have been flooding youtube and I feel like i've seen it all. No reason to really buy it until new stuff is added maybe.
I find these takes weird. If seeing someone else play the game ruins it 1) why watch them? Why not wait for reviews not gameplay. 2) Your play experience is going to be your play experience. Seeing someone else play doesn't mean that's what's going to happen in your game.
@@Zilla12 I hear ya but when you're super hyped for a game that you've been waiting for a long time, you want to see as much of it as possible. But then you realize later that you've just seen others experience all the things you could have.
@@davewolfe2668 bro.... Don't watch the videos. Everything you're talking about is self inflicted. You don't have to watch.
WARNING the game Developer is wholesale 'BANNING' & 'DELETING' STEAM Customers from the Discussion boards … this is NOT a good sign, especially for a game that has not even been released yet - Buyer Beware!
Extremely sad its being developed for console too, means the game will be incredibly limited in potential. PC only was the way to go. I guess his publisher couldnt say no to that Game Pass money.
RimWorld also has a console edition. Does that mean it’s incredibly limited in potential?
Get over yourself. Not all of us want to play on PC. Acting as if PC is the only viable place to game needs to end. I'd choose Playstation over the computer 10 out of 10 times if the game is on both. Gtfo dumbass.
@@dukes00 Yes? Everything released for console is much more limited than something that is solely released for PC? What dont you get about that?
@@HansWurst1569 in what way is RimWorld a limited game anymore now that it has a console edition than when it was PC only?
@@dukes00 Its more limited in: Development time, Mod accesability and modding in general, computing power, controls, expanding updates. Everything that works on PC needs extra development time and resources to also work on console. While limiting the game in potential because the console version of a game often (99% of the time lets be honest) stays the same as the PC version. But since a lot of gameplay is awkward on console it will mean that those things cant be expanded upon for PC in general. If you really cant see how a console version is more limiting in terms of potential than a pure PC game (and also vice versa), its a you problem mate. This is developed by one guy/very small team. Meaning expanding the game with more features for the full release will most likely not happen and the version of the game we have now will probably be the full version of the game. Full release will mostly only focus on ironing out bugs, glitches and working on console compatibility which will cost a lot of time if he's doing it solo. Meaning the potential of the game will be lowerd since it will have to be developed for console on the side?
The battles look suspiciously similar to the Total War series; what are the odds that the developer ripped off the code?

Am I the only one who thinks this game is gonna lack content/depth?
Shame, MS is a hard pass for me, glad he sold out before release, I would have wasted money on software that will not be free use after "buying".
Just like Win10 will become next year.
Sorely lacking in content on launch. The Dev did great but he need to hire a team and pump some damn content out and quick
