It’s not an old person thing. Everyone thinks their stuff is worth a fortune compared to what people are willing to pay. I just went to a consignment sale for kids clothes and those young moms were smoking something when they priced used clothes. 😂 In some cases old people do have things that are worth a fortune in the right market but next to nothing in the wrong one. I have my grandmother’s Frozen Charlottes at one time they were worth a mint, and may be again one day but right now they sell for next to nothing. I also have her old wooden record player which used to be worth nothing but would sell quickly for several hundred dollars right now. I’ve also thrown away junk like garbage pail cards, Atari and Nintendo games that are selling for crazy prices. What you can sell something for and what something is worth are two very different things.
Between the defendant’s attitude, body language, and his statement “my uncle’s a lawyer” it would be difficult for the comments to be juicier than the video 😀. I understand the sentiment though 😎.
I've been into antiques (vintage records included), primarily as a buyer, since I was about 13 years old. I know the minds of buyers and sellers. The defendant saw dollars signs when he heard that the plaintiff had crates of vintage vinyl and didn't care about anything but getting up there to grab them. As is so often the case when dealing with a non-collector, they usually are totally off in describing what they have, and think their junk is worth big-bucks. The stuff in the photo's was flea-market fodder that, if it does sell, goes for nickles and dimes. Many times I fell for someone at work, family, neighbors, who said "I got a whole box of those in storage, you can have them!" only to be disappointed. It's either they don't really have anything; "I can't find the box/I don't have the time right now to look", or "Yeah, I got the box out........you can give me whatever you think they're worth". In the end it's a TOTAL waste of time and can cause resentment with both parties.
I think the other guy flat out lied about the number of records he had. You don't confuse like 4 or 5 crates with 150. If he was not lying, then he meant to say "Records" (as that sounds more accurate) but for some reason never corrected himself. That said, i again, think he's lying. I think he needed the other guy to come out and take crap out of his storage.
@Stan D'eve, depends on how big of a music fan you are. My high school music teacher had probably close to a thousand vinyl LP's, of all different genres and time periods! Me, not so much, but I do have every original run LP John Denver released, except one! 😉👵🇺🇸

At this point the only difference is the physical ownership of a song/album. At one point it was quality of audio, but digital has gotten so good that even a large percentage of well trained/career trained ears cannot tell a difference.
