Confused as to why people suggest that these three should restrict their movement when executing muscle ups... Momentum is an advantage; it HELPS the athlete perform at a higher standard. Why would they not use it to their advantage to aid in obtaining the best results possible? When a sprinter runs 100m, do you tear into them for using the momentum of the swing of their arms to achieve a faster time? If the challenge specified the movement to be STRICT muscle ups, then we could all agree that "not a single muscle up was done that day", but nowhere does it explicitly state that the motion has to be strict (restricted employment of momentum). Curious to hear the reasoning for disallowing momentum!
Bailey's form is flawless with no waisted momentum and the only thing I would mention to Angel Ence (which I'm sure she is aware and notices Bailey's technique as she watches him) is to use that momentum at the top to finish off that triceps press! One smooth kipping rhythm through the transitions from top to bottom!

She looks more like a gymnast, whereas Dan’s swing is broken and leaking energy everywhere. Either way, they’re both impressive athletes.

Then others show up and put everything under the table saying: "It wouldn't happen without drugs". After that point, it doesn't matter anymore how sexy and characteristic they are. Sadly. I personally love the Dottirs and Brooke too. Haley showed up, I went absolutely bananas. They inspire me more than any male athlete.

That being said, it doesnt take away from their greatness. If given the choice to take some gear in order to be a professional athlete, i wouldnt hesitate for a milisecond.

It encourages breakdown in form --watch any weight event at the Crossfit games-- and people pushing themselves farther than they should in the spirit of competition. That is why I think the average Joe/Jane is better off not going to a box if they want to improve their health. Of course there are exceptions. All that being said, if people want to challenge themselves in this particular way, that's their prerogative. But pretending it's a faultless system is ridiculous (I'm not implying you claim that btw, but I've encountered plenty of acolytes who do).
+Kurt Haller It is very easy, once you have a pull up bar. You put a chair under the pull up bar, and you use the chair to get to the bar, with your chin up to the bar. Now, once you hold the bar with your arm bended, you just let yourself go down very slowly : you just slow down the descent (that's what is called "negative" phase of the movement) to the ground. You do it as slowly as you can and on full range of motion (until your arms are fully extended). Then you get back on the chair and you repeat this movement for ten times (or as much as you can before getting tired). That's one set. Do 5 sets or more and you're done for the day. This is a very fast way to gain strength.
