Hi Anthony, greetings from Dorset,UK. Brilliant video I've been struggling with layers for about a year now and just could'nt get my head around it. After watching several videos I was still struggling, then I found this video and it all fell into place, superb , and the textures were the icing on the cake. So decided to buy the bundle and am having some good results so wanted to thank you for your professionalism and brilliant tutorials, keep up the good work my friend and I wish you and your family well, kind regards, Pete.
Aw thanks Pete. Nice comment to wake up to here in NZ. Glad this made sense for you and I'm really pleased you're getting good results with the texture bundle!
Another superb tutorial. Thank you, Anthony. Your clear, detailed and practical approach to photography - and frankly, your fabulous enthusiasm - is really inspiring. Your channel is much appreciated.
I was looking for textures. Your bundle exceeded my expectations! Thank you. I tried it on a portrait before watching the entire video. While I garnered good results, I would have achieved better by watching all of it. Thanks, again.
Mr. Tutnham, I'd like to thank you for such a great video sharing with us your knowledge an artistic sense. Great work! Seriously considering the purchase of the bundle.
Anthony, your videos are just great. Always teaching about the tools in Luminar Neo and how to use them while also sparking new creative ideas. I would not have come up with using textures and layers like this. Great way to breathe some life into images that might otherwise be a little boring. Thank you!
Great tutorial! I bought your bundle when you released it a couple of weeks ago. Loving it! I already got some great results on photos that I thought were dead. Before this video I didn't really understand all the blend modes and just muddled my way through, but now I can't wait to get playing with them again. Thanks bro!
I'm demonstrating adding textures using Luminar (bit.ly/Luminar-NEO) BUT the info is relevant for any photo editor that supports layers and blending modes (Photoshop, ON1, Affinity etc.). I cover how to build your own texture library, but if you want to take a shortcut I have my 240+ high-resolution (45mp) textures bundle available with a limited time 80% discount to tie in with this video (bit.ly/AT-Textures ). It's over 6 years of collecting textures from around the world and I'm really proud of the pack. I hope you enjoy getting creative with it too! 😃
Just purchased as a thank you for the great content on your channel mate (and of course to make use of the great looking textures for myself!). Your professional and open approach is really important - you don't hide any techniques or methods away like a magician...although your work is often magical - very inspiring. 🌟Thanks again, and keep doing what you do so well. 👍
@2020Decoder thank you! Thank you for tuning in, thank you for your kind words, and thank you for picking up the textures! I hope you have fun creating with them! 😊
I appreciate the explanation of the various blending modes. In the "old days," I was a sucker for fonts. These days it's textures. Bought the package. :) Thanks!
Follow on from my last comment and I'm not sure if it is even relevant, but do you process the RAW image first, before adding the textures as a part of the creative element? I actually think I have answered my own question... ;-)
Haven't tried this, but with the latest version, maybe doing a virtual copy of a layer and flipping it over a texture you're already using could be an option for some photos.
Since creating this video Luminar Neo has been updated and improved. You can get the newest version on sale here: bit.ly/NeoSale and maybe save more with coupon: ATNEO10 (sometimes Skylum de-activate the code if there's already a promotion running but worth giving a go!)
Superb video - thank you. Just want to add "curves" as this is something I still have not got to grips with. One thing I'm just not sure of is adding textures only to specific parts of the image ie portrait background. I assume you would use the various masks available? Keep up the good work - I love your videos! PS - purchased. ;-)
I am looking for a layer for texture like cracked paint. Do any of your packages have something like that? Or maybe a better descriptor is something like stained glass pattern. If not, how would you suggest getting a stained glass pattern?
TBH I'm a big fan of, wherever possible, searching out and taking the exact thing you're after. Not always possible though I know. If you have access to a bathroom window with frosted glass could you work with that? I do have a pack dedicated to cracks and cracking ( www.anthonyturnham.com/product-page/cracks-marble-texture-pack ). but it's not stained glass. More like cracked paint and other dried and brittle surfaces. If you like the look of the set you can use the code "course80" to save 80% off the entire bundle price.
Er…I know I’m thick but I’ve just purchased the packs and downloaded the textures. I have a zip file. I presume I must extract them. Where is the best place to save them? In Luminar itself?
Hi Roger. Yes they're zipped up as it's the only way to share via the Web host. You just need to unzip the folder (right click and choose extract / option click on a mac). You can store the textures wherever is convenient on your system. In Luminar (or any layer based editor - photoshop etc.) just load them in as an image layer, change the blend mode, opacity etc and away you go 😃 let me know if you need any other help.

Yep. Always process the raw file as a starting step regardless of the ultimate direction for your edit.
Well done as usual... and the $ to NW makes it a great deal on the bundle. Thanks so much!
another great teaching session ... yes I like to see the "Curves" session ... thanks
Here's the video on curves: ruclips.net/video/8l32uLRhZfU/видео.html Such a powerful tool and really worth mastering!

I'll add that to my list of experiments to try out later!
On the ball as usual. One point on which I am not clear is how you use a texture on part of an image. Assumedly by using the various mask tools
Absolutely. In the layer properties, you can access masking and control where you do and don't apply the texture.
@@AnthonyTurnham Thanks
