Paul, I just recently purchased a Model A pickup in Anchorage, Alaska. I’m 30 years old and have wanted one since I was a kid. Appreciate your videos and inspiration!
I know a lot of younger folks who are wanting these Model A Fords and other early cars! I LOVE this! I adore Model A Fords! I have quite a few 1920s Cars and have got a lot of them back on the road, the one thing I pray for is that they will keep making the parts for them! I am having issues getting the parts I need at present, like 2 blade fans and other parts!
Nice interview, John Hermida is a really nice young man, good to see the younger folks getting involved with the older cars. I like what you all are doing, I hope for the continued success of John and you with all your endeavors. I hope you have a fabulous day and weekend, stay safe and God Bless!
So John, first, let me say that by owning a model A, you're on your way to discovery. Second, everything that you do to your "project" is an improvement to it. I would suggest updating the lighting. Head lights, cowls, tail lights to LED's. When you fixing a unit from the car, the operation and design just makes sense, in most cases. Wait 'till you want to teach your wife to drive this fine piece of machinery.
Hey there, I have just installed my first set of LED's all around the car and they work great. They also draw much less power from the electrical system. Thanks for the tip! My wife is hesitant to drive it but absolutely wants to learn.
My first, second and fourth cars were Model As, my daily drivers for 8 years. Sold my third one in 1982 and last month I bought my fourth -- 42 years later.
Paul great points on this hobby, it grows into a lifetime changing experience. John congratulations on your marriage and as us older folks know, those that play together stay’s together. Tina and Paul are good examples of this, plan on the Model A days at the Gilmore. KY Ken.
Fantastic interview Paul, next year I’ll be in Miami and will be great to meet him. Very informative and convincing interview. Model A here in Curacao, really is a very much liked vehicle, and people really are impressed to learn how these prewar models were designed and operating till the day of today and beyond. Model A is an icon of the automotive world. Thanks Paul. Regards to Mrs. Tina.
I purchased my Model A in Sept of 21. My wife and I really like planning out full day excursions with it. We picks out as secure a route as possible, considering we live in the Los Angeles area. For a stock A, I surprisingly use the freeway more than I anticipated. After 40 years of marriage, I believe the hobby can provide some stimulus too.
I was mostly into 60s fords but the taste moved prewar and looked at Packards , Lincolns and Auburns. The model A support is what lead me steer to this car. I wish there was Shinn family to support my other brands
You should have interviewed David Welch, he’s young, he also lived in Southern Florida, he actually drove his car to the Keys 4 times (once accompanied by a 1919 Model T), and is passionate about the hobby, not as a wacky money-making venture. He literally just bought his second Model A. Why you ignored him I’ll never understand.
@@SunnyJay I'm sorry again, sir. I have no idea he even wanted to be featured. I receive 2,000-5,000 emails a month. I cannot assume anyone is writing because they would like to be featured. If he requested to be interviewed, I would write him back and learn more. I'm not stuck-up!
I live in the Miami Area and I agree that the traffic here is terrible. My modern daily driver was hit in a parking lot and is now being repaired by my insurance. I don’t own a Model A yet but I can definitely vouch for everything he said. Thank you for posting this Paul.
Welcome John to the wonderful world of Model A’s. It’s wonderful to see that you and your new bride are going to enjoy your Model A together. After traveling my bride and I have been enjoying our A driving all over the this wonderful country mostly on back roads. We are still Married after 75,000 miles See you done a country road Steve and Leah
Yikes! A Packard! Thats the deep end of the classics pool! When my rich uncle gets outta da poor house.... Great niche article Paul! And he is in my neighborhood (Florida). Its cool that these cars bring people together.
@ModelA The next time I am down there (Miami) I'll have to look him up. Or maybe at the Gilmore. The problem is he is nearly as far away from me as Atlanta, GA! Back when I was driving for a living I would get down there once every week or two. Still, it is a nice interview with the future of the hobby.
I’m 22 and I don’t own a new car I daily drive a 1939 Ford 1.5 ton and a 1963 Ford f250. Both all stock. I enjoy it I would not own a new car. I have 45 vehicles ranging from 1917-1977. Including 2 model As and 5 AAs. I am a mechanic and the new stuff is to complex. I don’t enjoy working on electronics so points and condenser it is. Great to see someone else my age into old stuff.
recently was allowed to put "nova the chocolate 4door" in a parade this was the first time i was ever able to drive it more than the end of the road and of course the people put me at the front. it was the most fun ive ever had but wont be able to take it on long form drives because i cant afford tags and cant afford to fix the structural duct tape. hopeing to beable to join mafca soon but cash is tight and i need new headlight reflectors.
You'd be surprised how well a high torque Model A engine can adapt to AC loads. I know a lot of people running AC and it doesn't seem to affect much. Swap to a 5.5 head and it totally cancels out the AC load.
mafca is tge largest car club in the world devoted to one model of vehicle. i sold my 31 coupe for funds to buy a 73 big block 4 speed challenger (swapped in) and intend to someday get an A pickup. or maaaaaybe an AA... but likely not lol
Hello, "Paul Shinn" I was analyzing your channel and saw that in your channel have some problem, That's why your channel is not much growing and not getting much engagement, If you can solve these problems, Your channel will grow like a storm. If you tell I can tell these problems. Where can I tell? Here or ig or where?
I do this RUclips thing to help the Model A hobby, no other reason. Not for me, not for money, not for subscriber count or popularity. So, I'm good with it as-is. Thank you!

It certainly could!

Hey Paul, do you have a video on adjusting a steering box on a 31 model A?
Yes. ruclips.net/video/hjaI-Od_v8U/видео.html
I found a Randy Shinn in an booklet put out from Veda Orr.
Would this Gentleman be related?
The article was written in 1946.
If I wanted a Model A with air conditioning i'd invest in a Shay. With barely 40HP as is the compressor and alternator with grab at least ten of them.
You'd be surprised how well a high torque Model A engine can adapt to AC loads. I know a lot of people running AC and it doesn't seem to affect much. Swap to a 5.5 head and it totally cancels out the AC load.

Get an AA if you're really wanting to slow down!
Nice....
Most guys don't want a stock a Model A. Not really worth a lot. Hot rods are far more desirable. Guys like hot rods. Just my opinion.
Interesting...The people I hang around with only like stock Model As and reject the hot rods.
Expensive hobby to say the least!
It's cheaper than drinkin!
I'll drink to that 😂@ModelA
