Mike, I hope you are mistaken...a full charge of refrigerant (R12 originally) is 2.42 lb. or 1.10 kg. 5 lbs. w/b more than twice the amount called for.
Your correct about me being mistaken. In the end, there was a leak that the shop didn't detect, prior to filling the AC. On the lighter side, I've made so many mistakes, I need to start calling them traditions. :)
I read alot other post i read said bad lo pressure switch cause mine is full so I leaning more to bad lo pressure switch the cost almost 30 a piece so they have to be pretty important.
Disconnect your battery let the system reset. Connected back and turn your ac back on and check your Freon level or refill it. Mine usually says compressor off when it’s low on Freon.
Just checking the system for leaks with a vacuum pump and manifold is not enough. Sometimes the Schrader valves can leak because the seat seals are bad. If you hear a hissing sound or feel a suction when placing a finger at the time you disconnect the ac manifold connector, it's an indicative of a leak.
@@mariogreen1408 in this case I am 100% sure its the ORIFICE TUBE being clogged up on the high side. To check and replace the orifice tube, you first have to evacuate the system then use two crescent wrenches back to back. To brake lose the nut on one of the hoses that goes to the evaporator at the evaporator end. The orifice tube you might have to pull it out with needle-nose pliers because it os a bit difficult especially if it's clogged up with metal shavings that prevent it from coming off; look up on Google the image of an orifice tube so you know what you will be pulling out from inside the house.

Probably a bad High-Side or Low-Side A/C sensor. I think the High-Side pressure sensor is located inside the thinnest "liquid line"--might be located up on the pipe along the firewall. I forgot where the Low-Side pressure sensor is... probably somewhere near the Receiver/Dryer canister, but inside the pipe. NOT the Clutch-Cycling switch, which is also near the canister, though.
am74343 --- When the shop charged it, the test didn't show a leak.. But, it didnt5 have any pressure after only a week. When summer hits, I'll look into the ideas you've sahred. Thanks for the pointers.
Grind Hard -- Even though they did a pressure check, before installing the freon, it still leaked out in two days. There seems to be another leak, not sure where...haven't taken it back into the shop. At some point I will. ...just a little hesitant that it'll test fine, and the money and new charge will be a waste. I suspect there's a leak, which a good shop will find.
Hi Mike, I also have a 1992 Deville. I had the AC redone about 6 years ago. I heard in your video that you fully charged the Freon. The shop that did it converted the system to take the new legal Freon, the old Hispanic mechanic vehemently warned me never to pressurize the system fully (the old Freon is apparently a lower pressure AC system), and only fill it about 2/3 on the Freon pressure gauge, otherwise he said you will blow valves and cause everything to leak out. I have not had to refill the Freon since then. Also, any decent shop will include dye in the Freon to check leaks.
I had a 1960s Ford that had manual door that either opened or closed the vent air flow. I wonder if Cadillac has an electric one, that is stuck shut. Also... Common reasons for no air flow to happen: Blown fuse: Like many electrical units in your car, the ventilation system relies on a fuse for overcurrent protection. If the ventilation system's fuse blows, then the circuit will stop working, and there will be no power for the vents. Bad relay: A bad relay can also be responsible. Or, maybe there's a bad vacuum line...or leaves or something are causing a clog. My old Cadillacs have never had this happen, though.

Unhooking my battery makes it turn on again but not for long It goes out again, and wont turn on. I believe there must be a leak. Very expensive to have that done. One of the Cadillac forums says that code means low freon. I haven't ever seen any codes, the orangish light on my 1990's dash just suggests to check the AC.

In my case...actual 2 cases. A 1989 and a 1990 Deville, both had natal shavings from the compressor piatons I guess, clogging the orifice tube. This tube is in the high side line right where the hose coming from the compressor connects to the evaporator core. Yes, inside the hose sits the orifice tube. With 2 crescent wrenches disconnect the hose move it out if the way and using small needle nose pliers oil the orifice tube out... If it is clogged up with shavings and grease like substance, replacing it won't fix your problem because that is an indicator that the compressor is going bad. In 1989 car I replace the compressor with a used back in 2013...AC still going. I also flshed the condenser, evaporator and hoses, except the ine with the muffler. On the 1990 I replaced the compressor with a new one, flushed everythings as in Car 1. But this one had a leak and I couldn't pin point it. Turns out it was the Schrader valve, it wasn't setting quite right. The leak was very slow. Wiggled it and out PAG 150 oil in it to see if it would leak stool, but it doesn't. Hope this helps. Both cars were retrofided to R134a refrigerant, car 1 but a shop car 2 by yours really. Hope this helps some one.
Regaurding the Fuel Data Center, the one in my Cadillac goes off and then back on randomly. It comes on after a day or less (working fine once again), which is good enough. However, Google suggests replacing the physical Fuel Data Center. It has been that way since 2016.
@@bossmyanimallife12 Try a swap if at all possible with a known good MODULE, to eliminate buying a part you don't need. Maybe a friend has a car that has same part. While you're swapping clean the connectors and the contacts witha an eraiser. If that doesn't do it. The BCM might be your cause of the problem.

Did you ever find out issue for AC trouble. Mine 93 Cadillac does the same thing. Tried recharge can from AutoZone but it still doesn't work
