"The Battle of Damned Waters"

This is an an introduction to the research behind a translation project I'm writing. Its purpose is to depict the events that occurred as accurately as possible, given the immediate resources available to me. I believe it's a genuine attempt to capture the meaning behind some of the most mysterious markings on earth. I hope you enjoy it!

Some of those petroglyphs are from tourist but you can tell the difference from the coloration and depth. Also there are graves above the petroglyphs on Pu'u Kilea. Our ohana is buried there so please respect the area if you visit. Mahalo for sharing

The King of Maui was not "visiting Oahu" as if he was on a vacation. The King of Maui had just conquered Oahu and done plenty of his own killing of Hawaiians I'm sure. Kamehameha saw his opportunity to attack Maui from the Big Island while the Maui king was gone.
It also Sounds to me like the Prince of Maui fled out the back while his men were being slaughtered in the Iao battle.
