  • Diversity fatigue is real: people of color are tired of leading the fight. White allies are tired of being told they're doing it wrong. No wonder we don't have equity yet! In this inspiring talk, Dwinita Mosby-Tyler explains why we need "unlikely allies" in the fight for justice, and why people who are experiencing inequality first hand must be willing to accept the help. Dr. Dwinita Mosby Tyler is the Chief Catalyst and Founder of The Equity Project, a company that supports organizations & communities in building equity, inclusion, and diversity, and The HR Shop, a boutique human resources firm for non-profits & small businesses. Previously, she was the Senior Vice President and Chief Inclusion Officer for Children’s Hospital Colorado and the Executive Director of the Office of Human Resources for the City & County of Denver. She has three children, Jasmine, Imani, and Chinelo, and is married to Rev. Dr. Timothy Tyler. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx

Right on. People were called colored because white people didn't want to offend blacks who were offended by the other word that everyone used to say. I'm white. Not really. I'm a French German Irish Dutch and some other stuff American. But prefer to be simple called a man or an American.

You can't ignore a problem that still exists. We have to talk about racism. I think Dr. Nita Mosby Tyler makes some excellent points. The world is changed through conversations that turn into actions, and white people have a great opportunity to use their privilege to move us towards a better, more inclusive future.

This world has become a perfectionist and more selective than anything, but I believe racism is still here, probably not as much like it was many years ago, but it is still here. But nowadays it is mostly about if you are physically look good, you have more chances of becoming something, and that's because of the way that TV 📺 companies promote perfection and project perfection to people's mentality, specifically to children so that they can grow with that mentality and become more visually selective. This is exactly the way that they promote brand name products so they become the most popular and have the best marketing sales, and that's practically what they doing by promoting beauty so that humans become more visually selective and perfectionist. I guess for them that's the way they are trying to get rid of "ugliness".
