Her portrayal of Abby was absolutely stunning. It blows my mind how my first impression of her changed so much as her story unfolded, and without Laura's amazing performance, I don't think this aspect of Abby's story would've been as effective.

They could have ellie be a loaner and avoid people and stumble upon a kid that needs help and before she knows it, in her own way is playing Joels role and eventually understands why made the choice that he made. Of course there are tons of different directions it could go in but naughty dog doesn't like to play it safe which generally pays off well (in my personal opinion).

I've been waiting for a more indepth interview with Laura Bailey regarding Abby to come out. It just didn't seem to exist when the game came out (prob due to the hate shown toward the character and her since some people couldn't seem to distinguish SHE is not Abby). However, Abby is a significant part of the game and I really want to know more about the character development and her process of developing the character, voice, thoughts on the story, etc. I thought she did a fantastic job as Abby.
I empathize with the feeling. I feel like due to the fact that not many people enjoy Abby as a character we don't get to know a lot about her, her depth and layers. She's complicated and i honestly don't get why someone wouldn't want to know more about her?

I was shocked and dismayed as much as everyone else by the brutal way in which Joel was killed, but also enjoyed Abby's character and story.

Every person behind the game spent years makig it (from voice actors to illustrators, animators, fx, sound effects and music, etc) should feel extremedly proud about their work because it is, in fact, a form of art. But I guess not everyone has a critical way of thinking and clearyly not everyone can appreciate something even if it didn't go the way they expected. But it warms my heart to see so much appreciation for her work in the comments section.

It should be of absolutely no concern how a voice actor looks like, what race they are, how old they are in comparism to the character they play. The only thing that matters is how they sound like and how good they are as a performer. So a white woman can very much play a black woman. But just as well vice versa. So this shouldn't be an issue at all.

I'd like to chime in on the "Nadine Ross Controversy":
This is voiceover work. It should be of absolutely no concern how a voice actor looks like, what race they are, how old they are in comparism to the character they play.
The only thing that matters is how they sound like and how good they are as a performer. So a white woman can very much play a black woman. But just as well vice versa.
So this shouldn't be an issue at all.

If we lived in a bubble with no racism or prejudice of any kind where real people aren't being harmed/excluded for who they are.
But we don't and it is, so it's wrong.

Diego R. de la Rosa dude are you serious right now like it’s not even about the fact that she killed Joel. Her character was just not written well bro. One abbys father was going to kill a little girl without her consent even if it was for a vaccine that may or may not have been possible. I’m sure Ellie would agree to it but at least tell her don’t fucking play god. 2nd She betrayed the people she worked with and cared about slightly over the years for two kids she just met! Like what! You’re going to switch up on people like that. She was gonna kill a pregnant woman. Yes Mel was with child too but Ellie didn’t know. Abby did “she’s pregnant” “good” our hero everyone. Abby literally puts everyone she cares about at risk for the sake of your own personal vendetta and it all started because they wanted to kill a little girl. Joel was 100% justified in saving Ellie. If that was your or my daughter, we would be Joel. She’s a failure because the Writers failed at making her sympathetic to the majority of the fans. You need to understand that there are more people that hate this game rather than love it. If you love it Power to you I’m happy for you. This is a bad character in my opinion. The only good character in was lev that’s it! If it wasn’t for him Ellie would be dead af. Abby is not a good or redeemable character you can’t change my mind! Oh yeah one more thing SHE FUCKING KILLED JOEL, a pointless death! That character had so much more to offer. Anyway just incredibly sad as a fan where these characters ended up tommy, Ellie, Joel!:(

soccutd77 yeah we’re vocal about it dude because that’s how passionate we are about these characters in this franchise man It’s not even about Joel’s death! Joel and Ellie were already establish characters so to switch them up all of a sudden does not make any sense even from a writers standpoint. I finished the game and I returned it the day I finished it because I did not like it. it was not a good story the payoff was not worth it. I stand by what I said! I have seen so much hate than love for this game. If you love it that’s great power to you🙏🏽😊 we waited so long for a Joel and Ellie story but now we will never have it.
