There is a grown child out there in the world somewhere now, who SUDDENLY vaguely remembers being tripped, and kicked in the face by a giant of a teenage man…. And then that same man SPRINTING out of the mall like a bolt of lightning.
I got a not completely similar but still somewhat similar kind of story. I was riding my bicycle home from work, when I come across a family of Middle Eastern-esque appearance, this is not unusual for my suburban area, who take up most of the path where I'm cycling. They see me a good maybe 100 meters in advance, and begin walking to one side, so I may pass on the other side no problem. Here's where there's apparently some bull-like switch that goes off, in the smallest child at maybe 5-6 of age, who is also on a bicycle, and basically just starts barreling towards me, his parents begin to yell at him (I don't know what they are saying, I presume it's a mixture of his name, the word "stop" and the sentence "come back here"). Naturally, seeing another cyclist coming towards me, I slow down to attempt to gauge were this kid is going, but the kid is in the middle of the path, speeding up. Best I can do is try and get out of the way, so I swerve to the right, but the kid swerves with me, he is intent on hitting me for some reason (or at least, so it seems to me), so I do the next best thing which is to brace for impact. The kid connects with his front-wheel at a like 40 degree angle to my front-wheel. Now I am about 100 kg, plus I'm not being blindsighted or anything here, yes it's not exactly pleasant either, but I'm unscathed, other than getting the breath knocked out of me, and so is my bicycle. The kid's bicycle is fine as well, but the sheer force of coming to that sudden a stop, means the kid is lifted up over the handlebar, over my front-wheel, landing on the tarmac on the other side of me, he gets his hands scraped up a bit, but is otherwise, as far as I can tell, not hurt badly. He does, however, start to cry. The rest of his family are like 70-60 meters away at this point, and I was so close to just be like "screw it, I can outrun them on my bicycle, I'm not going to take the blame for this kid being stupid." but decided against it. So naturally the mother and father rushes over to start to help this kid out, he is bawling, pointing at me, saying something in, I presume, Arabic. I have no idea what he is saying, but it seems like, to me, that this kid is essentially blaming me for not getting out of the way. I just catch my breath, look at the kid and in Danish go "You should be more careful next time, and start wearing a helmet, it's for your own good." Without waiting for a response, I just started cycling home.
I remember the first time I heard bricky tell this story was on some Minecraft stream back when he was BO8. That was one of my all time favorite moments of bricky. I'm glad to see it's immortalized!
Fun fact for anybody wondering, the best word to learn in spanish is "Orale" which is capable of accurately describing every feeling that went through Bricky, that kid, the kid's family, everybody in the area, and mall security's minds in that moment.
