He didn't just make a good movie. He made a phenomenal movie! A rich, almost Shakespearian story; compelling characters; great action and humor; and a stunning celebration of culture, heritage, tradition, identity, and home. It really is unlike any other Marvel film in its scope and vision. My hat's off to Mr. Coogler and the whole cast and crew.
Man I watch every interview with this dude he's really become one of my biggest role models. He gives incredibly detailed answers and great insight in just a short amount of time. You can tell when he first talks everyone is a little caught off guard with his Oakland swag, but by the time he's done with the interview everyone in the room is very impressed with him.
Well, not EVERY one. :) Dawg lives 30 minutes away from my house (not that I've been invited or anything) but when you know he's from Oakland, and you live in the SF Bay Area, you know he's gonna be down. So proud of him. This film is epic and so is Mr. Coogler.
I cringed a little bit when they said that this movie was "kind of like his debut" because fruitvale station was amazing and creed was amazing and got all kinds of mainstream attention
yea I did too! like any movie person would know fruitvale was definitely his debut breakout movie...Only thing I would say is different is this movie has forced him to do more interviews.
pressure is literally the only hing that will ever push people to do better and reveal their courage. Without fear and pressure you cannot have bravery and instead youll just look like you dont care.
This was released at the cinema in the uk yesterday, The screening was absolutely full of people, Everything about it was wonderful, There are two post scenes if anyone is wondering,
Jose Andres I can't answer the question I'm afraid, Due to the film not being released until friday in the united states and wouldn't that be a spoiler for the film? If you logical think about what the soul stone is who is the only character in the mcu that has the ability to see everything in the universe including every soul (people)? Heimdall that's who,
I’ve never experienced tickets being sold out during the pre sale until now. I have my tickets already but planned on going again on Saturday but every show is sold out until the following week. INSANE. I always go see Marvel films twice but I’m sure for this one I’ll see it 3x.
The comic book had always been that way, so please don't act shocked with the political and racial statements of the movie. The main character is an African political leader. Just heading off that bs before it leaves the station.
I think the book is SO political, because the Black Panther was subject to Ben Grimm's (Fantastic 4's The Thing) racist jokes throughout his origin. I think the subsequent creators took it on as a challenge to bury that with Black greatness as the years went on. Especially Reginald Hudlin and on.
I am reading the priest run for the first time right now I am still in the Achebe arc. But Seeing Black Panther put the smack down on Captain America left a big impression on me. So I always shout out v4 first.

Saw it Feb 12 - Congrats Ryan Coogler on a great and important film - more important than the MCU - much like Wonder Woman was more important than the DCEU. Bravo.

Everyone who loved Black Panther and its soundtrack needs to remember to write reviews for both. The production companies need to know that we enjoyed it and want a sequel. The more positive reviews they receive, the bigger the budget will be for the next Black Panther movie! Let's keep promoting the movie.
Saw it today at 11am. I Dressed up and got ready to transport myself to Wakanda. Wooooweee. Love it. This movie will change your life, your mind, your spirit forever! Perceptions you know.... Wow...I have to go back and see it again. I am processing my notes on the major themes of the movie right now and oh my...this movie got it so right in ways unseen. A heavy history lesson that most of us never got in the Dominant Hegemonic educational systems. Woooo. Black Panther lives. Got to see it a few more times to take it all in. So much to look at and see. Great story-line, intelligent story that is universal and what many countries are facing now. It is contemporary and futuristic at the same time.
Great film. More than a comic book movie, it had a good message. I can't wait to see more of Wakanda. The MCU is so much stronger than ever. The themes and intricately threaded storyline that has been crafted is so much to praise. Also Okoye, Nakia, and - of course - Shuri SHINED alongside the Wakandan king (both of them). I wish the regular side of Disney and Lucasfilm would have this attention to stories. Pixar and Marvel have great stories covered.
LOVED this movie so much! Thank you to the PHENOMENAL team that made this project a reality! The dynamic cast, visionary director, creative producers, and all the wonderful people who worked on this film.
Love Ryan!!! He just a regular Ni$$a lol. Nah sound like my cousins, brothers, uncle regular black American dude!! I love it💜💜💜💜 never been into comic books but I pre brought 11 tickets and can’t wait to support this film! I hope we make history on top of history this weekend
I agree this movie transcends race... T'Challa is basically inspired by President Trump in my opinion. T'Challa is the black Trump....a king/leader of a powerful nation who is pro nationalist, anti immigration, anti globalist and wants to PROTECT his nations culture and traditions against outside influence by building a WAL/forcefield around their nations. T'Challa said (regarding immigration)…"if we let them in the world will bring their problems with them".
This dude is well on his way to becoming Hollywood royalty, and with only 3 films in the can! All of them have been outstanding too. Best to you Mr Coogler!
When she says "this film transcends race..." and Ryan's like "Mmhmm...Um...nah, sis. It's an important part of it" you can see how accustomed we've become to prepacking our stories help make white folx more comfortable and how desperately we've needed to tell stories that distinctly are made by and for us. A lot of folx from many different cultural backgrounds can enjoy the movie, and that's great but separating the fact that it is a distinctly black story for black people is missing the point entirely. So many of us are so separated by our culture and origin due to the longterm effects of slavery and systemic oppression that this movie means something more to the black community specifically. We finally get to see ourselves represented in a way that does us justice, a way that honors what we are capable of and it will affect generations to come. Colonialism destroyed so many black histories and muted so many stories for so long that when a lot of black folx watch this movie (especially in the Trump era) they cry. It means a lot to us because this is the proof of positive representation we've needed for so long and it's only the beginning...
This guy's only 31 directing a major hollywood flick. Amazing.

Its crazy! its only his third film ever, all three of them have had A ratings
@ jeff my thoughts exactly!
He's the black Steven Spielberg (Jaws, 1975)
Ryan Coogler can just retire now, all three movies he directed were home runs, I have no idea how he does it, he is my boy!
He's so young with already three critically acclaimed movies under his belt, including a freaking MCU flick. Wow.
If they have any brains the DCEU will try to steal him for an Icon or Static Shock movie.
YES a Static Shock Movie!!!
He made masterpieces

Assimilate around white folks? Seriously? He's not different, he's just talking.

It's an Oakland thing
Raghu Seetharaman his done millions of this interview that's why
Raghu Seetharaman Every interview is the same
Fruitvale Station
Creed
Black Panther
.....bruh having the greatest 3 film start and he only 31 years old.....dawg
Culture that doesn’t say Nolan?
Tarantino?
lmaoo for a black director is what meant BUT, tbh he def in that conversation too if we wanna talk about it
Culture oh yeah definitely then
By the time Damien Chazelle was 31, he made two perfect, A+, 10/10 films.
Creed is only alright. Rocky, Rocky II, and Rocky Balboa were all better.
This guy is so down to earth
yfn_wale he is the most underrated director of maybe all time. I hope this movie changes that
Right?! This is the first interview I've seen of him and I love him already

the director is very intelligent.,...and probably a Trump supporter.
The reason I say this is..
T'Challa is the black Trump....a king/leader of a powerful nation who is pro nationalist, anti immigration, anti globalist and wants to PROTECT his nations culture and traditions against outside influence by building a WALL/forcefield around their nations.
T'Challa said (regarding immigration)…"if we let them in the world will bring their problems with them".
I think the director deliberately layered this message into his movie to show his support and appreciation for all the great work President Trump is doing.(by keeping South Americans with problems OUT of the United States).

Greatest director in Hollywood.
6:26 Omg, he is so CHARMING!!! Go Ryan Coogler!!💕🎊
Way to go young one! ✊
Excellent movie. More success to you in the future! 🙌
150million underestimated.. it did 220million opening weekend. Crazy! But well executed. Definitely one to see. Well done Ryan
"Ah, man. Right on, Gayle," Mr. Coogler says with humility and respect, at the end of this interview. This man!!! I love him.
LOVED this movie so much! Thank you to the PHENOMENAL team that made this project a reality! The dynamic cast, visionary director, creative producers, and all the wonderful people who worked on this film.
Ryan Coogler now added to my fave director list!!!!

Shondell Holmes 11 tickets ?!? Damn
Phonso she believes in the hype, yo!
We have!!!!💪
I agree this movie transcends race...
SO HUMBLE AND TALENTED
I love the way he talks he's so clear and to the point 👌
Gotta respect this Brother. Walking in his truth to the fullest!
I'm in Namibia on the south western part of Africa. Movie is not yet out here in Namibia. Looking forward to see it.
