I'm white and had the same reaction. All the assholes like Kek Peterson, that got bent out of shape because blacks were stoked about finally having an aspirational fantasy that portrayed blacks, or Africans in this case, as capable, intelligent, honorable and proud just can't stand the idea that we've moved past minstrel shows and black face as the main representations of blacks in film and tv.

Something to think about. Chadwick Boseman has played Thuorgood Marshall and Jackie Robinson, two towering figures in the history of black America but it was his portrayal of a fictional hero that made the biggest impact. That shows you the power of representation in an aspirational fantasy. Black Panther deserves all the praise it's received and more. It's probably in my top three MCU films now. I don't know how they could've made a better film unless Michael B. Jordan had been in it more.

This was my exact thought as I watched the interview. Chadwick was intentional in what he was saying. I know it mostly came from speaking with a person from South Africa and not trying to be offensive. Yet, it also came from his need to express the African- American experience here, and our journey to connect to the motherland while being as authentic as possible.

Hate and lies don't make one a nazi, unless the person making that assumption is an idiot. Being a member of the National Socialist party (nazional sozialitische) makes you a nazi. That's what makes the leftist rhetoric so stupid.
A person disagreeing with you doesn't make them a nazi. It doesn't make them a racist. It doesn't make them anyone but someone who disagrees with you, and if you call them nazis without justification except "hate", then you are just stupid. You are also hating when you hate someone who hates. Why is that such a hard thing to understand?

Chadwick Boseman was very instrumental and necessary to King T'Challa in that he brought the perfect grace, humility, vibe and essence that is recognisably and undeniably African. It had to be Chadwick. We can never thank him enough. Rest In Power bro. 🙏🏿🖤

To all black americans having this same problem of not being able to trace your origin. As your african brother first know that we love you and we stand with you. we admire your strength and ability. since the tribes in africa migrated and intermarried alot its difficult to find an exact origin even for us modern africans so thats okay.. but just look at the small details in your own body and DNA then you'd know which tribe you share those with. or if you travel to africa ask some elders this question and they'd tell you based on some details in you. despite just as white people black people arent all the same.

How is asking an elder gonna help anyone they won't know only way is through dna. I doubt half of people overseas know anything about their history to get that initial tie

I appreciate this comment so much. I have a friend who traveled to Africa and the locals were able to identify what tribe she was likely from bc she carries very strong features that was easy for locals to identify.

The only thing I was able to find out was that my ancestry includes Ghana and Nigeria. I have no idea regarding what tribes.

Heart of a lion to keep doing what he loved and keep his struggle in away from his fans. He didn’t want to worry anyone 😥 wanted us to remember him in the brightest light 🙏🏻 Rest In Peace king

Usually crossing arms across one's body is a closed action; an action that deflects and is aimed at protecting oneself and pushing the recipient away. It is a testament to this man, to his abilities and to his humility and humanity, that when he did it, it was as though he was offering a hug and transmitting respect to the recipient all in one, albeit from a distance. Truly inspiring and appropriate in these challenging times. RIP Chadwick Boseman and thank you for sharing your amazing talent, humanity and for inspiring a generation.

ScarlettP .. I know. And I though All the Chris we’re in their 40s. Most are in the late 30s but look like they’re almost 50😆😆, No shade but do look at their pics untouched and raw without any makeup or cover gloss.

Watching this interview 4 yrs later reminded me of how brilliant Chadwick Boseman was. Both as an actor and as a human being. His insights into the movie and his explanations were so wonderfully deep and articulate. The acting fraternity has lost a gem!!! Continue to rest in peace Chadwick. 🙏🏽

May I just take a moment to say. Not a lot of interviewers show as much respect to actors or the films of Superhero movies. I really do appreciate the interest and deep insights Trevor took from the film and wanted to discuss with Chadwick, this is probably one of the first times I've seem an interviewer treat the medium as an artwork and not as a bloated "flavor of the month" superhero movie. Thank you Trevor. Thank you Chadwick, and Ryan Coogler, and the rest of the Black Panther cast, loved this movie, seen it 5 times, watching it again tomorrow.... #WakandaForever

I saw this with my daughter, she is 9 and we're both white, and we saw saw with a mostly black audience and there was points that felt uncomfortable. But not in a bad way actually because it was authentic. For a made up country it was reflective of real things. I'm a comic nerd and to have a character I love be done so well was just amazing. I even empathised with the "villain". Amazing film.

yeah when i was there i was one of the maybe ten white people in the theater. when the movie started i kind of had culture shock because every other movie ive been too, the audience is mostly white. it was kind of foreign and familiar at the same time. and that's when i really started to understand how big of a deal this movie specifically is to people. yeah everyone knows representation in person, but until you have that experience i dont think you get the full scope of it.

Brandon Thompson went to see it the second time and me and my girlfriend were the only black people in the theatre. not exaggerating. the lights were on before it started and yes. only black people. everyone is going to get to this movie at some point. even if just to see what all the fuss is about. great movie tho. 🙅🏾‍♂️
