- The international box office hit "Black Panther" is largely set in the fictional African kingdom of Wakanda. The African nation may be a fabrication, but it didn't come out of nowhere. Many of the movie's sets and costumes were inspired by actual people and places in the African continent. Abosede George, a history professor in Barnard College's Africana Studies department, spoke to InsideEdition.com about the real world origins of Wakanda. #InsideEdition

It was a good movie but very overly hyped & over-rated
I watched it and it was painful to see the Lexus LC (I think) and the Toyota 4Runner being tortured and destroyed in the movie although I know it should be fake vehicles used

Thank you for the analysis, you however left out the part where they did the water ceremony on the huge boat. I think it is inspired by the Kuomboka ceremony of the Lozi people in Western Zambia... I love that so many cultures were represented in the movie. I loved it. The women fighters were awesome. 😍

I totally agree with the King thing. During the movie I just realized how wrong this system is. Granted if you have a good King it isn't to bad but it's so simple to have a bad one. Seeing all the corruption in Africa I don't think that the leaders should have to much power. That goes for the whole world.

A lot of universities in the US set the standard for black or anyone that is not white or Asian lower in the name of diversity. Asian and white have to be really good and grades/score above average in order to get into that University. While a black person can get in even if they do worse than Asians/whites. This is race discrimination against both Asian and white.

That's the beauty of the movie and that is EXACTLY what has captured the hearts and minds of black people around the world. It may be a movie but it's a movie which was infused with REAL music, clothing, history dance art, folk art and customs of actual African groups. So beautiful...

Only the Ethiopians were semi-successful against European colonization. Ethiopia and Japan were the only nations who had won a war against a European power. Japan had a much more radical modernization program, and even became a colonial power themselves. Ethiopia, sadly, was not far enough along, and was beaten in the 2nd Italo-Ethiopian War.
As for the other African tribes, unfortunately many of them never even achieved the level of Roman society, much less the industrialized European nations.
