This moment solidified Metaphor as GOTY for me. It's one thing to make me cry because of sadness in a game, but I have never cried out of sheer awesomeness before, at least in a game.
I just made it to this scene, and god was it powerful. I was crying because of how epic it felt., the whole game was building up to this moment, and it fucking delivered.
That's exactly how I felt. In Persona it's already a regular thing to cry over some sad stuff, but here it's because of something so awesome you just can't help but to shed tears. I can't believe I almost skipped this game because I thought it was just gonna be another Persona with a fantasy skin but I'm so glad that I was proven wrong
The twist was easy to see by the multiple hints but is really nice that the canon name of Will fits so we'll to the idea of being the dream and desire of the prince of being a hero worthy of ruling his kingdom
I swear Hulkenberg's emotional relief and shock was one of the most cathartic moments I have ever experienced in my life. I admired just how dedicated she was to her oath, and the moments leading up to me realising that the Prince and Will are one and the same... and then this bittersweet music playing and giving you the faintest glimmer of hope that everything WILL be fine... god I was crying for an hour straight. I am so happy for Hulkenberg! I am so happy for Will! I am so happy for literally everyone in this story that ended up with a happy ending! Thank you Atlus for delivering to us this masterpiece! The only problem with it was legit that there were too many repetitive enemies towards the last 20% of the game!
It also makes Hulkenburg’s Awakening scene much more impactful in hindsight, her liege was the one who gave her the Will (pun intended) to live and awakens her Archetype.
The reveal cutscene literally put a big ass smile on my face. Just like "omg look at my OC smiling, looking so happy n shit" definitely one of my favorite cutscenes in the game.
I wouldn't say the MC is a shadow since a shadow is the part of you that you don't want to acknowledge, it just doesn't sound very accurate. The MC is the ideal self that the prince wanted to be like in his fantasies
@@Kimo-Cyrus well if you forget the meaning of a shadow is a suppressed emotion and if the eyes is blue the suppressed emotion is positive while the famous yellow eyes are the negative emotion as he have both means his suppressed emotion is both positive and negative and I can say that most of his suppressed emotion come from wanting to adventure and his fear of the said adventure
The only thing I'm confused about is why his voice goes all regal British when he transforms, and then just suddenly goes back to normal after a few lines

Plus, using the British accent would make things awkward among the crew, since they're not used to their Captain being the Prince. That, plus it probably was difficult for the VA to do for the rest of the game, idk
@@mb2001 Yeah, they probably didn't want to re-record EVERY line of battle dialogue. Still, I got excited at the prospect of Will having an English accent for the rest of the game. It would have sold more that the Prince was truly awake and not his Persona just carrying his name.
They’d have to re-record almost all the follower dialogue options to keep the change consistent then. Easier for them to just acknowledge the voice change, then have him go back to normal. You can headcanon that Will didn’t want to put on any airs of royalty around his friends so he dropped his noble speech. The first line he goes back to his normal speech with is when he says “Call me Captain, same as always.” So it fits
I bet they initially wanted to completely shift his voice after but that got cut and now we just have this little remnant I really do wish they changed it though like hearing that first line was so cool like damn
When I saw yoko taro say play this game! I thought he was involved. But when humans were introduced I knew why! I haven't played passed this part. I'm soooo glad I didn't get spoiled! Metaphor has the best community in terms of that
I just got to this part and my mind immediately went to that’s how Louise was able to change us because we were from magla and not true human physical that exists if that makes sense I’m not sure but yeah
Yup i also thought the same thing, but Louise can turn normal people to humans too, because everyone got magla within them. But because the boy has a magla body so hes more easier to be succumbed by the spell.
I liked the twist, but I find it a bit disturbing the Prince was awake for a while before he got assassinated. So for a time, Will and the Prince were definitely two different people and the Prince wasn't solely experiencing Will's perspective through his yellow eye. And yeah, they merge, but the game doesn't establish if that extended to their minds. Will just gets white hair and blue eyes, but acts the same way. It's not even established if Will "remembers" his memories before the first assassination attempt when he was a kid. There could have been a fun moment where Hulkenberg asks if Will really is the Prince and he brings up a memory of them before his coma. It also could have fleshed out their relationship between them and added more context why Hulkenberg was so dedicated to the Prince despite probably knowing him less than a year as his new body guard.
So essentially, Will was just a cognitive being created by the Prince, and later when the two reunited, they assumed their true form… I was waaaaay off the mark. I had begun to assume they were brothers, with Will being a bastard child. NOPE.
19:20 i actually thought the protag was going to maintain the prince’s accent throughout the rest of the game, but it felt like he tried for 2 or so lines and then gave up after that
Lmao, I just slap all the buff and debuff skills on Will, then let Bas and Strohl beat the shit out of that human. Not a lot of things can survive eating back to back charged super moves Especially when Will can just perma proc the synthesis requirement
I wonder how much of the prince is actually here like obviously yes it's his soul, and our protagonist is essentially his own individual but when they fuse I wonder if the memories are combined now.
The whole soul scream ability the boss gets to use every turn with no cool down to get 5 turns is super annoying. It would make more sense if your party had hp values in the thousands but you only ever in the high hundreds so the ability should have a 2 to 3 turn cool down.
When I started the game, and the game mechanics all pointed to the protagonist being King, I had half a thought of "maybe this will be a Kairi from Kingdom Hearts thing" and discarded it lol
I’m going to leave this comment as a seed for what could or may come, so let me know if it ends up sprouting! Since the game has just come out, there aren’t exactly a lot of fanfics for said game presently. However based on this particular video a “what if” popped into a head. “What if an Original Character/Reader woke up in the world of Metaphor Refantazio, and met Will/(insert random name for game protagonist here) in the very beginning of his adventure. While I admit I could write a fanfic like this myself, I only just found out about this game through recommendations and would probably do a poor job with the knowledge I have presently. So if for any particular reason a fanfic writer came across this, I would be okay with my “what if” being used as part of a plot outline. There are many fanfic writers with a similar idea with Baldur’s Gate 3 fanfics, so why not a similar concept with this game?
Or combine metaphor with baldurs Gate, a human of the old world gets isekaid to Faerun, but then after a while Tav comes back to a world that is not theirs anymore, with the mission to know how the Weave create the magla, and helps people forge a true conection with the Weave and hopefuly Faerun, in a wish to create a world that though eternally imperfect, it can be better
can someone clarify for me, did the prince create will? or did the queen create him? because it seems like the game is telling us a combination of both and im confused
