The lore, the mythos of the Green Lantern is one of the greatest things about them. It feels like there is always more and more stuff underneath to discover and the universe is just huge. The way Johns expanded it was amazing.
Guy Gardner became my favorite lantern between his run with the Red Lanterns and the Hal Jordan and the Green Lantern Corps. He fought and defeated Arkillo WITHOUT rings, then they became friends out of mutual respect. Guy probably overcame more than the other Earth Lanterns and still has a sense of humor. John Stewart is my next favorite lantern, especially in the Justice League run where he becomes an Ultraviolet Lantern after Sinestro unleashed the invisible spectrum. Green Lantern mythos is some of the best developed lore in DC. Hawkman under Venditti became my next favorites from DC.
I love this commentary! Thank you! Although I am not a fan of the emotional spectrum being the source of a Green Lantern's power, (when I was young, I figured out an energy matrix that would explain almost all of the rings abilities, and I quite prefer that explanation), I am still one of the greatest fans of this particular comic mythos.
Hal Jordan, you have the power to overcome great fear, the power to turn greed, rage, compassion, and love into motivation, and turn your hopes into realities, welcome to the Green Lantern Corps Doesn't quite flow off the tongue
My favorite lantern is the F-Sharp Bell, who comes from a part of a sector where no light strikes any of the planets, thus all the creatures are blind.
Green Lantern was the first regular DC Comic I bought. Back at the tail end of the Kyle Rayner era (literally his last 4 or so issues as the main GL before they redirected Hal)
Yeah, when I run my DC Heroes RPG I have the GLC only in the Milky Way galaxy not the universe. I mean with nearly 400 billion stars that is PLENTY enough space for under 10,000 GL's to patrol. Even with just one GL per sector, that would mean flying by over 100,000 star systems a day, every day, for a whole year! 😅
The Green Lantern Animated Series was amazing and is incredibly underrated and really didn't deserve to be cancelled. Had some amazing writing and characters within it.
I'm with you, Rick, The GL mythos in DC is one of the greatest sagas ever told, IMHO. I've adored the very concept of "Green Lantern" ever since I was old enough to know what a "lantern" was, and what a Power Ring could do. My favorite, all-time ring-slinger is Kyle Rayner, because he used the ring with so much imagination, wasn't an arrogant self-aggrandizing, excuse-making P.O.S. like Hal, and to this very day, Kyle gets almost no credit for not only keeping BOTH the GL corps and the Guardians from completely dying out, but completely revitalizing both of these groups. Hal's whole career as a GL is NOTHING compared to what Kyle accomplished. And the thing is, I used to like Hal before Hacks like Geoff Jones started to write him, since Geoff and Co. can only make their character look good by sh**ing on other characters, and always writing their preferred characters (in this case, Hal) as Mary-Sues who can do no wrong, EVER; even if they ROYALLY F'd up, it's somehow never their fault, they are always forgiven and coddled, and nobody ever brings it up again... Such huge, B.S. "writing".....
Hmmm. I hoped for more open World game, or at least Mass Effect style, with Green Lantern. There isn't much good movies or any other media, that has him in a Central Role. Shame. And if it is just Fighting game it is not my cup of tea. I'll watch part of some gameplay and then decide.
Maybe its my strong Canadian instincts but I've never had the sterotype American almost instintual aversion to police or federal institutions. Partly due to never wanting and doing my best to never break any laws and desiring peace and stability above all else. Tho when I've visited the US in the last decade or so I was really shocked at how much police and aggresive looking police presence there was compared to here or in the uk or japan, the two other countries I've lived. Never had a huge desire to be in the US we are so similar and get most of what they do but don't have those fundamental differences as regards to police and such in my opinion.
Why is the spectrum red at both ends? Stupid DC cant even get the most simple things right. Dont even get me started on the guardians setting up base in the center of the universe, which doesnt physically exist.

In brightest day, in darkest night; No evil shall escape my sight; Let those who worship, evil's might;Beware my power ...
Or in Lobo's case: A giant *%$^*(

Only a few years ago I didn't know anything about Green Lanterns now I have two Green Lanterns on DC Online and I love them.
Right off the bat, a universe is born.
Excellent video! Also: I don't think I've ever heard someone say 'Chagrin' before, though I've read the word a hundred times.
I know it's overdone but if we're sticking to DC, then I vote for Kryptonians. It's a rich and involved history.
You should watch Krypton on sci fi then. Great show.
"Because the universe is... kinda big." xD

Mogo doesn't socialize. But he wants to.
Very nice video. I will have to look up that game. Does anyone thing it is worth it?
It's a verses fighting game from the makers of Mortal Kombat with a pretty solid story based in an alternate DC universe.
Hmmm. I hoped for more open World game, or at least Mass Effect style, with Green Lantern. There isn't much good movies or any other media, that has him in a Central Role. Shame. And if it is just Fighting game it is not my cup of tea. I'll watch part of some gameplay and then decide.
