How do you convert a home that uses all gas for power to a fully electric home? This I think is safer and lets you use energy efficient appliances. I read that this process is called electricfication. Do you have any flippers who have done this or done it yourself? It would be great if you could do an episode showing the steps & costs involved and how to do this from start to finish.
This is possible but often not very practical, especially if you have multiple suites due to the capacity requirements. There are some homes with all electric heating, appliances etc and would typically required 200amps and up. If you have multiple suites and all electricity, you may need to upgrade to 400amps. Depending on existing transformers in your area, this can be costly. We briefly touch on this in the video. If your property is on natural gas and work is done by a licensed gas fitter, it should be very safe.
For a simple duplex conversion. What is the trend for electrical upgrades for bungalows with electrical panels in the basement? I'm looking to convert the main panel to a sub panel (for basement only electrical) and then create a sub panel upstairs/ main floor. I want to avoid having the tenants go into another unit to reset a tripped breaker. Thoughts?
Going through this now, great video!
