Thank you for sharing these helpful tips! Will be sharing this with my pelvic floor PT patients to help them explore other options with their prescribing provider
Dr. Rachel Rubin is THE BEST. Thank you Dr. Rubin for being so willing to educated so many of us. I'm not even pre or post menopausal, but I am confident I will know what to do when I get there. (I discovered because I noticed issues when nursing and was given vaginal estrogen.)
Everything has been tried for me nothing worked I was even told stop using after one month . I don't feel one month is enough but followed instructions. I fully agree with your recommendation to give it longer. Why don't doctors know this?
Dr. Rubin, please don’t forget to mention Imvexxy soft gel inserts and Estring as other options for those of us who have chronic burning from the creams. And re: adding Vaseline and Aquaphor, are you saying apply those to the skin first, THEN apply the cream on top? PCCA has told my two compounding pharmacists (at different pharmacies) that this can cause the estrogen product to sit on the surface of the skin-rather than absorbing-thereby causing even MORE skin irritation! They say oil-based products are the worst for this reaction. Would love to hear you comment on this. And what about if the vaginal estrogen you’re using is causing burning to occur inside the vagina? You shouldn’t insert Vaseline or Aquaphor into your vagina, right?
I just turned 43 and Im so lost. I wish someone would of taught me this stuff in school or my mother.... somebody... anybody. This is stressing me out. I don't know if Im going through pre menopause or when to expect it. Im just so ignorant in this area 😞
I have been to gynaecologist and urogynaecologist. I’m 64. I used the vag estrogen for years with no problem. Now I have been told I estrogen driven thrush. This has been recurrent. I just tried it again now feel sore and irritated. I really found it beneficial so am hoping I can persevere and use it.
I was allergic to the vaginal gel. I really felt swollen in the whole of the underneath area including my anus (I thought I had piles). After having a swab to make sure it was not an infection, I changed to the vaginal pessary and by a couple of weeks it gradually went back to normal. Hope this helps someone x
Absolute valuable info dr Rubin. Thank you .

Could you clarify? Do you put barrier cream before you apply the topical estrogen cream?

Premarin is scented. The fragrance can burn.

I live in AZ and saw a urologist who couldn't help me and recommended me to you in CA. Any way you can do telemed appts?
I don't think any of these are available in Philippines. Do you know of any ?
I have LS and the creams irritated my skin. I’ve switched to the tablet. Once my LS is in remission should I try the creams again?
