As I was watching this it hit me....this man put a 💩 load of time into this video. I watched from front to back, thank you for the work you put into these.
Always look forward to your vids on Monday morning! Thanks
I’d say the market is so saturated with modern, auto, serial numbered, parallel, patch....it’s just not sustainable. But here we are. Six figures for cards that ideally shouldn’t fetch barely over five figs. Madness. It should cool off...but when??
when money disappears man RICH gets RICHER called inflation and just now sports cards are catching up to actual worth
@@alphaomega9563 Shaq rookies is still way behind in prices.
5 figure??? Shits a joke....if only we used ARE brains lol
@@alphaomega9563 what worth you talking about? all new cards are basically junk.
Great content as always! Cheers
What a time to be an auction house owner: you get paid a buyer's commission, you get paid a seller's commission. Multimilliion dollar sales. Yeah, there are risks, but most catalogs now have pages and pages of disclaimers to cover their behinds.
Its so true. The biggest winners of all may be the auctions houses (Goldin, Heritage, PWCC, etc)
@@collectorinvestordealer how can i sell my cards then because i have the 1one everybody want

Very rich guys in Dubai lol

$137760 for a luis robert card? i have his shoes!!!, well part of one shoe, someone has the other one
Insane. I just started collecting cards again and its become so overwhelming it seems too much to comprehend. My first cards in 30yrs. I used to cherish all my cards, base and all. now it seems like they pull the base and just throw them in the gabage right out of the pack. If they don't get a rookie they are dissapointed😒 Happy collecting!!!
all these prices fell... like rock from outter space
Love the content from Australia, og
I can’t for the life of me understand why Jerry West is so undervalued.
Tons of players are still very underrated, including Kareem Abdul Jabbar. I personally think its nuts to see modern players outselling vintage.
I went yo the National 2 years ago. Baseball Vintage is King. Blew my mind. Im getting more into Vintage of BB, BKB and FB. So underproduced..
@@vintagecollector5340 all the new money is coming from younger investors with money..they want media hyped players.
@@golfmaniac007 I believe that. I personally feel better putting money into already established players. Many people are going to get burned buying into the modern stuff at those insane prices.
Nice to see Clayton Kershaw getting some hobby love at 25:35. He has been my main PC since I restarted collecting in 2014 (first started in the mid to late 80's). The centerpiece of my collection is the 2006 Bowman Chrome base in an SGC 8.5 w/ a 10 auto. But that red refractor is something else entirely. Talk about high-end . . . .
Great Kershaw card you have there! Ive been meaning to pick up a nice 2006 Kershaw RC at some point.
I have been looking forward to this!! CHEERS!!
Cheers buddy!

I have a bunch more of those coming up...
I hate how Goldin Auctions is over stating their sales. When you look at the actual past auction results, the record '52 Mantle actually sold for $1.566MM and the Jordan PSA 10s actually sold for $720k, not $738k. I had people call me out when I did a short video on the record Jordan sales because I was saying they went for $720k and everyone else was saying $738k and then Goldin actually advertised the record at $738k but now when you look at the completed auction results, it says $720k. The difference is in the two buyers premiums. When I was watching this auction end and the final price was $600k + premium, I looked at the auction rules and saw 20% buyers premium or 23% if paying by credit card or not paying within 10 days and figured conservatively, this is most likely not a credit card purchase. This market is hot enough on it's own! We don't need to inflate these record sales even more by an extra 3%! End rant. Great video as always!
Wow. Massive number of sales. Goldin has really taken off.
Wow!!!
What do you think will happen to junk wax era Jordan's as PSA works on there backlog? I ask because I have about 100 Jordan's from 1989 to 1992. Given the high premium people are paying for PSA Jordan compared to raw I determined it's worth getting anything graded that has a shot at a 9 because even 8s are selling slightly higher than the raw value plus grading fee. I just worry that junk wax era non-gem mint jordans will have the bottom fall out.
Im not sure.... there has to be a LOT of them coming back from PSA soon, as PSA had a few specials for just Jordan cards. I would guess they'll go up in the short term, and at some point come back down.
Thanks man! Great info, I appreciate you sharing your knowledge and taking the time to highlight stuff in the price range of us mere mortals! ... mom wanted me to say she likes watching your videos also!
Sounds like you have an awesome mom!
$738k for an OC MJ? Fake sale?
Theres gotta be some type of money laundering going on
I bought a Kobe gold refractor for $2,000 3 years ago. I just got $100k for it. This is insane.
Wow, congrats! Can't beat that ROI!
That Paige and Robinson duel cut auto is amazing, hard to believe there is four of them.
I do have to point out that Pele hand cut rookie has Garrincha on it as well. Another Brazilian hero of the sport during their amazing World Cup runs.
Great point. I will mention that going forward
my daily dose 💪💪💪
Psa grading is so inconsistent these days
Really, hasn't always been, some cards i have seen over the years graded 10, the grader must have been out drinking the night before :)
Great new and wax, old school play together
The video we all been waiting for. I'm blown away how much Jerry Rice rookies are going even the 8s 😳
They have absolutely exploded recently

I (almost) feel bad for the guy who paid $1.5m for an Anthony Davis card. Yikes.

@25:45 it's Kevin Durant black refractor not LeBron
Thanks again Chris! When cards like that first Jordan are shattering records, and it's *clearly* not a 10...that tells you who's bidding. Wealthy speculators who aren't even into cards....and they'll be the first ones selling once the correction comes. As an aside, I feel like PSA has changed just like the hobby...they've become more picky about centering....those old holder cards may be overgraded (in general) when you are dealing with the current market. That 86 set, while beautiful, is showing a lot of cards that are also slightly off centered to my eye, and again, in old holders. I can tell you in the late 80s no one cared about mild off centering. Times change.
I totally agree. That has to be a wealthy speculator buying that Jordan, not a true card person. And also totally agree that PSA has gotten pickier. Most vintage stuff you see as 10s are from old holders.
A blazer ..one the 1st one my head was spinning on the second ..omg Chris ..what an amazing beginning here ..so many cards that lebron patch ..the colors the logo on the patch so nice..no love for trae..just so many cards to comment on thanks Boss..some eye openers again..thanks
That "PSA10" Jordan RC was so OC it needed a qualifier. Further proof that investors are just buying labels now!
thats insane huh? imagine what a centered 10 would fetch? .......1.5 -2 million? that psa 10 is off centered....paying that much is such a letdown....like WTF? paying that much for an offcentered card? jordan rookie is not a rare card to find.
Amazing cards and prices are up
I’m here to say that goldin auction has some shady dealings.
Past present and I’m sure future
just looking at these prices....one thing is clear....BGS needs to get their ish together
The Jordans are off center for a 10. Check out 'Jabs Family' when he opens 2 '82 fleer baseball BBCE boxes and there's a pack of '81 fleer in there. Was funny. Good job BBCE. This grading/wax box grading is a scam. Wasn't PSA called out for false grades? Love ur channel.
I love cards
Dude these cards are so epic I love them I have those same cards when I was little.
I subscribed to your channel.
Welcome to the channel!
$738k for a fleer MJ 10? Holy shit dude.... i had a chance to get two of these for well under 100k a good few years back
I just got in trouble cause i went over on my break time. Thanks Chris!!😀
Haha my apologies :)
Awesome breakdown AS Always! .. > PSA deal done, stock stopped trading, new group is running it now > paying close to a Billion bucks ... my prediction is this > on this date note the PSA card # > going forward I feel cards will be rushed back to investors/collectors, churning out much more volume but keeping the higher prices ... they know other companies are hitting the space ... look for much MUCH easier grades for cards such as GEM MINT 10's ... knowing a PSA grade is still the industry standard ... added comp, pumping out more volume IF your asking me will cause softer 10's then ever ... and return times will decrease as I think the grading process will probably be streamlined for more and more volume and quicker turn around
Interesting take! They definitely need to do something about the turnaround times, otherwise competition is going to start carving into market share.
That first Jordan psa 10 was SO off centered. Can’t believe that came from psa. That card has never been under the radar
Cool card's
At that level of price discrepancy between the BVG and PSA Mantles... you have to crack and crossover, right? The potential earnings are ridiculous.
Yeah if you think it has a shot to crossover, definitely have to consider it.
The difference in price on Mantle PSA vs BVG is crazy...4 BVG '52s for the price of 1 PSA...that BVG (8) looked nice too
Right. The crazy thing about it is that the psa has probably been altered and the bvg is probably unaltered.
What happens if Zion Breaks his leg and never is the same player again what happens to the value of his cards then?
As always, appreciate the updates and the latest news!
Chris: 3:35 This is why I would strongly urge one to break open a wax box of 1986 Fleer. The upside is just too good to pass on.
The upside is getting bigger and bigger for sure
Love your series, bro!! Snagging as much Mahomes Rookies for cheap as I can now he lost lol. People are going to drop those prices!! Brady cards prove to be a long term investment.
Brady cards as a long term investment... I wish I had gotten in on that more a few years ago!
Sold my Jordan rookie $5. Guy gave me a bunch of cards to pay off a bet. Jordan rookie shows 2nd year stats so I didn't think it was his rookie card. This was in 1990. Now it's probably worth 10k
What is your opinion about submitting cards to Goldin Auction? Do you know anything about fees? Any warnings about auctions like this?
I haven't submitted to Goldin auction in a few years. I used to now and then and always had a positive experience, and those I know who use them are very happy with them. I don't know their current fees, you would have to contact them through their website.
Alot of these prices are highly manipulated. I knew some guys who stocked up cards they could acquire cheaply, saw a number ed card out of 1000 they bought from $20-60. They would buy all thst could be found. Then they start listjng with auction companies, they jave a friend buy it back for a huge bump say $600. Then they do the same on ebay. They get 10 to 20 transactions in sales history at $800 a card. A few outsiders benefit and sell theirs and now the cards keep shooting up and they start dumping their stockpiles all around at a man made inflationary price. I dont get the insane prices on the intentional 1 of 1s. Who cares that some card was made to be rare. It only meant sonetging when it was unintentional. Now everyone has 1 of 1s, is that really special and does that truly constitute a high price because they intentionally made 1? Id never pay $500k because im the only person that has it. Now a gane used bat that hit the game winning run or something like that sure. But cards that were designed to be rare just dint do ut for me and most of them are ugly as sin.
Who graded the Jordan a PSA 10?? WOW
Thank you for another great video. I would be interested in video about auctions. I don't know anything about them (other than eBay). For example, do they have them weekly? How do they decide what to sell? What are the costs/benefits of using Goldin versus eBay for a seller? Is their audience wealthier? Did they do it in person pre-Covid? Would be fun to attend one.
Thats a great idea for a video, Ill consider it in the future. Goldin, Heritage, REA, PWCC, what are the benefits of each.

Is there a way to find the person who sold these cards to golden? Would they happen to be from Indiana the original purchase and how do I find that information?! I’m sure these cards belonged to my son. These are my family heirlooms! Or Baseball card exchange nba box I’m sure it was registered to my stepdad.
Insane how can Anthony Davis go for $1mil
EA Sports ... “It’s in the bin.”
Hey Chris, would a "case hit" explain that single box going for much less than Its respective in the unopened case? Seems like if you're ripping a case and you get the case hit you'd sell the rest of the case unopened?
Great point... that is most likely the case.
Love collecting cards and the prices are amazing would love to have them
Chris, thanks for putting in the marathon work on this video. Curious to get your take on HGA, the new grading company that uses hybrid computer tech to help grade cards. Would greatly value your input on this.
I dont have an opinion on them yet, but I think there is a real opportunity for them. The company backlogs are out of control, and PSA not having a 9.5 or pristine grade is going to start hurting them
@@collectorinvestordealer It just seems like computer grading is inevitable in a good way. Surprised it hasn't happened sooner. I think HGA will do well, especially with the backlogs. BTW, I only have one graded card, a BGS. Appreciate your input. :)
Agreed. A.I. grading is inevitable.
Dont change a thing...👍
Some people shouldn't be allowed to spend money
There is Kobe kards Wayne Gretzky Michael jordan And thousands more of ones I've seen on here How do I go about getting them looked at
whatever happen to the card of stephen strasburg that BGS graded it 9.5? how much is that card worth now?
I have a very large important vintage to modern sports card collection that has been in our family for 3 generations. Who would you recommend as the best dealer/auction house to approach to consign them?
It depends on a lot of different factors. Quantity, years, graded or not. etc. Ebay, COMC, and Goldin auctions are all great options to sell.
This is crazy these cards this is crazy these buyers Must have loads of money to throw away who are purchasing these cards who are the people buying these cards? I want to know who they are I’m just very curious we should be able to know I mean who is buying these cards?.
i'm thinking pro athletes are into it incognito hooked up with someone else to do the purchasing.
@@golfmaniac007 You would think at some point there’s an incognito shit going down for sure I mean somethings not right here it just isn’t well when I say not right I mean I don’t know I’m just scratching my head on the whole thing trying to figure this whole thing out. I mean who’s the last person you know that purchased $150,000 card?
idk about y'all, but i would WAY rather have that LeBron 2004 logoman PSA7 for $150k over a Luka prizm /10 for $700k. insane. whoever bought that LeBron STOLE it
Im not a big believer in PSA. The Gem10s are often off center which are NOT 10s in my opinion.
Why would they list it as Kobe's first point game instead of Kobe's 1st game played or NBA debut game? Because I was at Kobe's 1st game, unfortunately for me & moms (I was 16) Del Harris decided not to play Kobe that night. I still say I was at Kobe's 1st game however, I don't care what anybody says. But if I ever wanted to sell that ticketstub I have to be very careful on how I list it. It's a tricky one.
Have thousands of cards in good condition. Baseball, Football, basketball, hockey and NASCAR. Priced to sell.
“Zebut” is supposed to sound like debut.
Ah of course. I knew I was pronouncing that wrong!
Are you on Clubhouse? You’d fill rooms!
Im not sure what Clubhouse is...
@@collectorinvestordealer it’s hard to describe... an audio only worldwide zoom call or an interactive podcast. Everyone in a “room” can talk to each other. It’s a new platform that’s invite only right now.
Hope the market & sales keeps going the way it is, its no longer just a hobby, but a major market for high end investors. The down side, is the high end stuff will continue to be purchased and taken off the market, making prices for many unattainable, so low level collectors will not have the oppurtunity at obtaining certain cards like a Fleer Jordan Rookie, Topps Chrome Kobe & Lebron Rookie.
Thats very true about cards becoming unattainable. Although there are still infinite collectible cards at all price levels. I think the investment aspect is being added to the hobby, not necessarily replacing it.
What's is a psa 9 and psa 10
PSA is a grading company that encapsulates cards and grades them 1-10 based on condition. PSA 9 or PSA 10 means the card is in a PSA holder, and has been given a grade of a "9" or "10"
@@collectorinvestordealer I have some baseball cards from the 80's and 90's I'm trying to get rid off you have and suggestions on how I can

Does anyone have any guesses on what a full set of all 6 uncut sheets of 1983 Topps Baseball might sell for? I have had all six sheets (792 cards) sitting in toploaders since 1983 and have no clue what the value might be. I know there is Ripken 2nd year, Gwynn, Boggs. McGee, Sandberg RC's with a TON of stars. Any guesses out there?
Interesting item! I really have no idea what that would fetch...
@@collectorinvestordealer Thanks.
Looks like that big lot of Mahomes cards with a minimum bid of 60k and no bids was broken up, all the cards were sold at auction individually .
Ah that makes sense
why is there so much difference (1.3M) in price between a Mantle PSA 8 and BVG 8? the cards are practically the same...
For whatever reasons, PSA is just a much more desired grading company at the moment than BVG. I agree with you, the price multiplier is a little crazy though.
Could you just buy the bvg one and open it and have psa grade it
Is that a first ever octo-patch? Haha
Haha perhaps :)
Jeez, I just sold a KD Topps rookie for $195 and thought I did pretty good 😄
On some of the message boards that I belong to, increasingly people seem to be split thinking that most sales like this are on the level, or that there is somehow some kind of massive covert price manipulation going on. Is it really that simple? I don't think everything that is supporting the current market bubble can be fake. Either way, some of these prices sure feel stupid.
I dont see how there can be a massive price manipulation going on. Dont get me wrong, I am sure there is some here and there. But we have seen soaring prices for a full year now, across all platforms (eBay, the auction houses, live shows, etc) and in all sports and even non-sports.
@@collectorinvestordealer Agree. I think it's just partially related to everything having to turn into a conspiracy theory in our culture lately. Some people want to believe things that simply aren't true. Thanks for your videos!

I'm convinced when people start bidding on cards they lose their minds, lol - at the end of the auction it's no longer about the card(s) but rather winning the auction - it's kinda crazy.... Then the buyer realizes they overbid once they paid, lol.... Look, some collectors need more self-restraint er discipline - I've seen collectors go wild on cards via auction on prices that were significantly more than if they were priced conservatively.... I mean I just price my cards for what what I think they're objectively valued at - look, starting an auction off at .01 or .99 cents usually doesn't work out but when it does it can be extremely rewarding... The card gets like 60 "watchers" and in the last 10 minutes it goes from $2 bucks to $200, lol.... I guess my point is that some people are just overtly determined to win an auction and they end up overpaying and unfortunately when it happens on ebay these collectors realize this after the fact and then they don't pay, smh..... Look, we all have overpaid for cards but you gotta pay - and obviously most collectors do - of course on the flipside of the coin you have these collectors trying to sell their cards and when they don't get what they want they cancel the sale - that's actually happened to me twice in the last couple of months - and I was so pumped I won those auctions, I kept a birds eye on them but nope!! haha....
