Tesla FSD Trying to Drive over a Cliff (12.3.6) Tesla Model 3 RWD

- For some reason Tesla FSD Version 12.3.6 kept wanting to drive off the side of a cliff. Wasn't detecting the road curved.

I would like to see a Wile E. Coyote-style test, where the tunnel is just painted on the wall...
Tesla would collide head-on, for sure.
"1 million Robotaxis by 2020" 😂😂😂
In piles at the bottom of cliffs and retaining walls.
Elon really did say that. what a cuffing JOKE.
This is what we like to call a retaining wall, not a cliff. Also, the vision system doesn’t see the edge of the wall do to lack of contrast between the grass on the top of it and the grass on the distance so, it wouldn’t be able to do anything about it. In bright enough sunlight, a person can make the same mistake. By thinking it’s just a stone line to make where the road is.
Ehh. Did you miss the road? Super clear and VERY EASY to spot.
My ten year old could drive a car there.
That’s cause your 10 year old has one of the most advanced neural networks on the planet! Aka the human brain.
Take a look at the 0:54 mark in the video and zoom in on the white stone edge paving, you can see how little contrast there is between the car side of the white line and the grass behind it. If you opened your eyes for the first time, and looked there with no prior knowledge of the scene, you would not know there was a drop off.
Ask yourself, as you watch this video, how do I know there is a drop off there? Work through that process and it helps you understand what the ML algorithm is doing.
I have 4 little kids so this is more fresh for me but, remember how many times you had to stop your 10 year old from falling off of something as a toddler because they were unaware of their surroundings or didn’t know that stepping off the stairs would hurt them? Your correction is training their tiny neural networks.
Oh, as a reference, I work with Machine Learning in my career field so I see these things do some really cool stuff that a human could never do and then I see it do some real dumb stuff that a dog could figure out!
@@rcktpilot Take a look at the road in the video. Could not be any more clear. A blind person could actually drive there since they could hear the road and when they are going off it...
So i do not even have to knw there is a drop. All i have to know is where the road is, and it is NOT straight ahead.
@@rcktpilot Yes, machine learning can do fun and pretty impressive stuff (at least when looking at the surface) but is does not understand a shit and also, looking deeper, is VERY rudimentary and dumb.
Why don't you use the report function to tell Tesla?
Cause he wants it to keep happening so he can continue to get views
@Mooshimoca I did report it after the video. My channel is also not monetized so I gain nothing from getting more views.
I don't even know how you made it to that Cliff, how many boulders the car was plowing over. /S
This is why we can't have nice things.
I thought FSD was to navigate on city street.
Human brain and eyes can navigate *anywhere* . FSD is a simple minded Level 2 assistant. Nothing more.
can you retry this on FSD 12.4 please? Would be interesting to see if its any better at handling that corner.
Sure.
It probably won't, unless 12.4 changes what it sees as "roads". Look at the screen. It's showing absolutely squat in the visualizer area, so I don't know why the idea of it continuing to go straight is so shocking.
12.4 will behave the same. Don't believe the hype.
@@DerekDavis213 ..... What hype? Only notable thing to possibly look forward to is less steering wheel nags. Don't think anyone is thinking it'll change what the car does and doesn't see as a road
@@theElemDragon What hype? People are saying 10 times less interventions with FSD 12.4. We know that is nonsense.
FSD's progress in the last 60 days could be described as *Baby* *steps* .
It looks you are on a cemetery for FSD vehicles.
I am I mistaken or is the planner looking to park? Didn’t look like it was routing a drive. If it was planning to park, maybe it was doing the right thing?
you stopped 4m from the "cliff" lol
Next time I’ll let the car drive off for content.
@@Jacob6875 it probably thought that the white edge was a road line, so being so far away says nothing about "cliff" safety, the car had more than 10x the time needed to stop.
Ironic how you imply you are not doing stuff just for content after several extreme exaggerations...
If there were a way, I would bet you 20k it would not drive down the step
You'll get bad juju playing around in a graveyard which could result in driving off the side of a cliff. I suggest testing elsewhere.
Right? Like of all the places, why tf is he playing in a cemetery? 🤦♂
Please report the edge case. Is this even a public road inside this graveyard? I doubt it. Also, please stop using clickbaity titles.
Yes the graveyard is public access. The roads are mapped on the Tesla Nav even. It’s not a clickbait title if it’s actually what happened.
If that's a cliff, I'm a Titan mate.
This is not an edge case. This is a clearly visible road that the car totally fail to follow.
Poor system. Not edge case.
@@Jacob6875"The roads are mapped on the Tesla nav even"? You do realize that the MAP is just Google Maps data, right? Autopilot/FSD doesn't base it's actual driving on map data. It's based on what the cameras can see (which is why it typically warns that it may not function properly where no lane lines are visible). And from what I can see on the screen when you're for some strange reason trying to FSD around a freaking graveyard, it's not showing any road visible, hence it's not trying to turn.
You're also in an unmarked and unpaved private road 🤷♂
But a human could drive there, *with* *ease* .
That's a hill, not a cliff
It’s a good 15-20ft drop off. Define it how you like.
@@Jacob6875 it looks like max 5ft, can you make a video on it.
It's a beta.... What did you expect
It’s actually “supervised” and not in beta anymore.
It is better than a human, eight years ago.
And total autonomy next year, every year, for almost ten years...
Level 2
@@larryaugsburger8452 Simpleton Level 2, while fanboys think Level 5 is coming in 6 months. omg what a laugh
It’s an unmarked dirt road. It’s not a cliff. Terrible content!
Thanks for your feedback !
