      2009 Heineken Cup Semi Final. Munster were the best team in Ireland and the defending champions but the tide was turning on us. Watching them win and him running up to O'Gara to jeer him on the ground felt like the end. Not bitter at him for it, O'Gara could be mouthy as a player, but it's always stuck with me how bad it felt.

      As a kiwi i'd just say that every country has their own fair share of braindead punters, both professional and non, but at the end of the day we should not let their rage baiting chat taint our views of the general public of our respective nations because at the end of the day we all love the game, and once you truely learn to love the game you are able to see past your own biases and appreciate players based on their true ability rather than just their national colours.
      With that said Reiko was 100% correct, Sexton was an absolute grub his whole career, worse than Coles or McCaw. Enjoy your retirement...

    I’m glad to see a lot of these comments are so positive towards our Johnny. If you only looked at Twitter, you’d see the worst of society, as some of the comments over there are disgraceful. Fierce competitor, didn’t always get the attitude right but my god what a player. Anyone who knows rugby will look back on his career one day and have him up there with the greats. He is a far nicer person than some of his on field heat of the moment acts portray, and he brought Irish rugby to a new level. Legend

    I love how Johnny Sexton is smart enough to realise that you don't just walk into a coaching job with no experience. Yet they gave Leo Cullen an assistant coach role with no experience and made him head coach the following season. Our coaching system is so F***** stupid the reality is that Johnny Sexton would easily walk into Leinster and be given the keys to everything within a very short space of time regardless of his coaching ability. It happened with Paul O'connell and his terrible lineout cost us a world cup, its been happening with Leo Cullen every year since 2019 and we refuse to do anything about it. WHO you are is all that matters.

    • @straights
      @straights 3 месяца назад +2

      @@stephenonolan4298 The lineout was bad in 5 of Irelands world cup games...so YES! undoubtedly. And on Leo Cullen, he told the best Lock in the world he wasn't good enough to play for Leinster. A Lock, the same position Leo Cullen himself played. That player went on to win man of the match every week for Scarlets and now captains Munster. Also, Were it not for Andy Farrels vastly superior selections Luke McGrath and Ross Byrne would be starting today. Leo had no clue as to Gibson Parks usefulness and has now only selected Frawley due to sheer outside pressure. Frawley is 26 and because of Leo will never be an Irish great. I believe it would be interesting to look back at the pre-professional era where cameras were not watching every corner of the pitch. When conflict occurred as it always does in a competitive contact sport such as rugby, people would come to blows. Things were taken out in the rucks whereas now everyone is being closely watched, rugby players have had to learn to control their emotions, you punch you are red carded. But conflict will still be there and unfortunately the media and public treat the conflict as something that it’s not. In rugby we may fight on the pitch but always have a beer together off it. The media and public need to appreciate that

    I didn't go to Mary's but I do remember an absolute Legend of their Club, a guy called Jonno Gibbs who drove, kicked and charmed Mary's from a manky mud swept field in Templeville into what is is today, the guy worked 24 7 to build it. I reckon if they called you Jonno they were paying you a huge compliment. They must have seen that side of you.

My son was born here. I support the Springboks of course but I cheer for England when they play other nations. I do then find it rather sad that the presenters of this channel have such a dislike of South Africans and the Springboks (as two of your presenters voiced on this show when you interviewed Johnny) I am happy to subscribe to a channel where you are professional and respectful of all people and nations, don’t slag people off. If this is an England only channel, perhaps time to leave and maybe I did not get the memo.

    Hard for great players to get into coaching... They can't related to the struggles sometimes of someone less talented, because they were able to do it...
