I feel like education is also a tool made to destroy us (Africa) the colonizers came to africa and saw us farmers, herders, hunters and gatherers and told us we were uncivilised. They brought education, religion and taught us their lifestyle. But the fact is we exchanged lifestyles the colonizers saw how independent we were, we never struggled for food, water or any basic needs and if u look at a white man in africa these days that's what they do they are farmers they spend hours in the sun, burning their skin but making millions from our land,look at a young African man, he wants a white collar job, he's scared of the sun, the lighter he is the better, balancing the accounts of this white farmer. how do i meet these people or join the African Diaspora? i’m from the UK and i’ve been doing a lot of my own personal study on money, civilisation, psychology and Africa, from our real history and wealth to slave trade and colonialism. I see effects of colonialism till this day however i believe all hope isn’t lost and things can be turned around. I see the potential Africa has to be a great continent once we unite and help one another to grow and redevelop the continent. I see the resources we possess, only if we had the right leaders who actually care about the growth of Africa as a continent, in charge. I have so much hope for Africa and I am passionate and destined to do something about it. One idea to connect the expertise of the diaspora with the continent is to set up a major trade expo, in Atlanta - directly focused on African-American businesses specialising in major civil engineering projects (bridge building, road development, solar power, wind technology, commercial real estate structures), harbour and port development. African countries looking for diaspora expertise in developing continental infastructure can be represented at the fair. I believe an event like that would go a long way in developing vital links, mutual cooperation and a deeper understanding between all parties involved.

The Europeans do not forget their past, they commemorate it in history books and with ceremonies every year, like the British poppy wearing..
Being oppressed by corrupt incompetent fellow black people in Zimbabwe where there is no access to healthcare and life expectancy is even shorter than the smith days is what leads people to say that the smith days were better. You can denounce white supremacy but you can also call a spade a spade and criticise black mismanagement. The men and women who died for us in the liberation struggle would weep if they saw the oppression and repression we live in under fellow black people in Zimbabwe. We haven’t yet achieved the gains of the liberation struggle.
This history is everywhere in Zimbabwe, including public holidays and names of streets and suburbs, not to even talk of schools. However, just teaching is not enough. The Gvt has to also be seen to be walking the talk and respecting these nationalist values of our founding fatbers and this is where our leaders fail. So far politics in Africa is about amassing personal wealth through looting of public resources and abuse of office. This is what makes common citizens disgruntled and end up appreciating colonial regimes better. The learned Dr Chihombori is biased in her narrative on this matter. People dont just wake up denouncing their native Gvts. Something pushes them into saying and behaving rebelliously and it happens over time not overnight. Of what value is liberation war history when those who are in power as part of trappings from participating in the war do all sorts of evil through abuse of power to intimidate and silence public descent? Surely this is not an attribute of Pan Africanism. The State is the people. Power is with the people too.

I went to school in Zimbabwe, junior and high school, and there wasn't, and as far as I know, still isn't anything on the curriculum about the Chimurenga or war for independence. I stand by my point, this needs to be on the curriculum and examined. And I disagree, Dr Chihombori's assessment is not biased. It is accurate, factual and anathema to those who revel in bashing their own country.

We used to get punished in school for not straightening our hair without knowing that those school rules were leftover policies from the Master's rule to mess with our self-esteem. I feel like education is also a tool made to destroy us (Africa) the colonizers came to africa and saw us farmers, herders, hunters and gatherers and told us we were uncivilised. They brought education, religion and taught us their lifestyle. But the fact is we exchanged lifestyles the colonizers saw how independent we were, we never struggled for food, water or any basic needs and if u look at a white man in africa these days that's what they do they are farmers they spend hours in the sun, burning their skin but making millions from our land,look at a young African man, he wants a white collar job, he's scared of the sun, the lighter he is the better, balancing the accounts of this white farmer. how do i meet these people or join the African Diaspora? i’m from the UK and i’ve been doing a lot of my own personal study on money, civilisation, psychology and Africa, from our real history and wealth to slave trade and colonialism. I see effects of colonialism till this day however i believe all hope isn’t lost and things can be turned around. I see the potential Africa has to be a great continent once we unite and help one another to grow and redevelop the continent. One idea to connect the expertise of the diaspora with the continent is to set up a major trade expo, in Atlanta - directly focused on African-American businesses specialising in major civil engineering projects (bridge building, road development, solar power, wind technology, commercial real estate structures), harbour and port development. African countries looking for diaspora expertise in developing continental infastructure can be represented at the fair. I believe an event like that would go a long way in developing vital links, mutual cooperation and a deeper understanding between all parties involved.

'You are where you are today because of those young men(and I will add women because it is a fact that women fought in Zimbabwe's liberation struggle too) who risked their lives to liberate Zimbabwe.' That history needs to be taught in every school in Zimbabwe as an examinable subject. If you fail it you don't progress to the next stage of school. It breaks my heart to hear young Zimbabweans saying let's not talk about the past whilst they enjoy the fruits of the labour of the past. Graduates and professionals who say life was better under Smith when they could have only hoped to be garden boys under the Smith regime. The Europeans do not forget their past, they commemorate it in history books and with ceremonies every year, like the British poppy wearing..
Being oppressed by corrupt incompetent fellow black people in Zimbabwe where there is no access to healthcare and life expectancy is even shorter than the smith days is what leads people to say that the smith days were better. You can denounce white supremacy but you can also call a spade a spade and criticise black mismanagement. The men and women who died for us in the liberation struggle would weep if they saw the oppression and repression we live in under fellow black people in Zimbabwe. We haven’t yet achieved the gains of the liberation struggle.
This history is everywhere in Zimbabwe, including public holidays and names of streets and suburbs, not to even talk of schools. However, just teaching is not enough. The Gvt has to also be seen to be walking the talk and respecting these nationalist values of our founding fatbers and this is where our leaders fail. So far politics in Africa is about amassing personal wealth through looting of public resources and abuse of office. This is what makes common citizens disgruntled and end up appreciating colonial regimes better. The learned Dr Chihombori is biased in her narrative on this matter. People dont just wake up denouncing their native Gvts. Something pushes them into saying and behaving rebelliously and it happens over time not overnight. Of what value is liberation war history when those who are in power as part of trappings from participating in the war do all sorts of evil through abuse of power to intimidate and silence public descent? Surely this is not an attribute of Pan Africanism. The State is the people. Power is with the people too.

I went to school in Zimbabwe, junior and high school, and there wasn't, and as far as I know, still isn't anything on the curriculum about the Chimurenga or war for independence. I stand by my point, this needs to be on the curriculum and examined. And I disagree, Dr Chihombori's assessment is not biased. It is accurate, factual and anathema to those who revel in bashing their own country.
💯. It will give young generations an idea of what their brethren faced to emancipate themselves and not fall for the fake narrative that portrays Zimbabwe as an evil state because they fought for their freedom.
This is why I have started to pray to my ancestors.
