- MVP Baseball 2005 is one of the more timeless efforts in video-game history. The lore and legend behind it have contributed heavily to the games immortality. Also the fact that it was the last MLB MVP installment in the series because of fear and karma adds to the legend, but we’ll get into that later. Let’s take a closer look at MVP Baseball 2005.

Oh shit this blew up. Thank you so much for watching. Feel free to sub to the channel. I appreciate you. Have a great day!
MVP 04 was better
Congrats man you deserve it best of luck with this chance hope you blow up.
I'm sad. I bought this back in the day but didn't get to play much because I accidentally scratched the disc =(
You should make more videos based off of MVP series.
Charging the mound, and sending out the manager to argue NEEDS to be brought back
Andrew Dowell they should. Like if you get a bad call, you can argue and the next call might your way, but you also risk getting thrown out of the game.
That's what made this game great
@@Angel-je3bh they should add bat flips and race the freeze
Why? Yall will buy anything even if they remove features lol
@@ShutUpBubi Except I haven't bought an MLB the show in years?
MVP 05 used to be my life when I was a young kid. The owner mode, the mini games, the soundtrack, everything was flawless. To this day, every time I go back to my cousins house for Thanksgiving or new years we always play countless games of MVP like the old days and never get bored of it. Greatest sports game of all time hands down.
Basketball Heaven MVP 04 was better
Nothing but straight facts.
Ken Griffey Jr’s Super Nintendo game (the first one) would like to have a word with you
Once again Skip Bayless has no clue what he’s talking about
Nope
And I own it
Jon Dowd for MVP
I used to think John Dowd was so unfair that I had a rule with my friend that we couldn't be the Giants. Thinking back on it now, having Barry Bonds in the game would have been just as unfair since he was an absolute monster at that time, hence the John Dowd legend.
@@oaktownklaygrounds5514 what if I told you that Jon Dowd was actually Barry Bonds... look at the height and weight, its all Barry, they probably just didn't want to put him in cause... steroids
@@joeinreallife6293 2K baseball used a guy with the last name of Young
Lol in mlb the show they had a guy named Reggie Stocker be Bonds
Ha ha ha 😂 😂 😂 😂
now I need to go back and finish that 162-0 season in owner mode I started 12 years ago
I still play this on the GameCube today. When most modern sports sims become irrelevant the year after, it’s incredible to see this one not only still holding up 16 years later but actually being outright better than most of the current baseball options.
Owner Mode was one of the greatest features of any sports video game I have ever played.
I spent countless and i mean countless hours playing it .
@@lukeschultz6886 you and me both.
ZennerGOAT yea I honestly love how you could do all the monetary stuff and build a stadium etc.
Booooaaarriiiing I don't wanna read a book I wanna play a video game . I hate games that make you read mad menus before playing . Like its a game you press buttons things happen . That's why I dislike them owner modes in older ea sports games . They even had the nerve too release trash ebooks that were playable as the game itself called ea sports head coach wtf what true gamer wants to sit there and read menus and not even play Madden it was later implemented into Madden and till this day no apology was ever given to their customers haha fuck ea sports
They stole midway games NFL blitz
2k low key stole slugfest but both them ideas are just another flop. Almost every idea and game ea sports puts out is mediocre or bad seldom is their games ever phenomenal and spectacular also fun to play
I recall I stopped playing ea sports games for a while like a few years . Got a new console was up to date on the games and how modern gaming is . I had sent months almost a year without having one sports game played or purchased so I said one day in bored let me get Madden the cheap ones cause they're the same game over and over so I buy Madden 16 fairly relevant in the year and gameplay I played for like 2 weeks here and there and have no interest in revisiting that nonsense good riddance like I have game pass 275 games or more wtf I need to waste time with a bum ass game like Madden when I have almost endless action games indy games violent games fighting games shooters some family games that are surprisingly more fun than anything ea sports has done or released
Gaming is better when you just are yourself instead of following trends within gaming . There's like 100s of thousands of games to choose from but people continue to talk about irrelevant ass ea sports still
Humansaredum Fuckthemtodeath and then you write a novel of a reply
A game featuring Cardinals vs. Brewers at Wrigley?
Cubs fans' worst nightmare right there
I love the fact that MVP 2005 had different classic stadiums than the usual Griffith Stadium, Shibe Park, Crosley Field ect don't get me wrong I love those stadiums but MVP had others as well like Tiger Stadium, Vintage Fenway, Cleveland Municipal and even the Astrodome.
Pudgemountain your comment hits it out of the park! I loved this game. But I also love the show18 as well. But yeah, I want some different classic stadiums. Tiger stadium is classic. Old marlin and braves parks from 2010 are not
@@RobertJohnson-mn3br Aye though a Braves park that would be awesome is the original Braves Field with the fences being 400-500 ft away that would be a nice challenge for today's players.
Pudgemountain A) And they had all three of those classics too
B) I also loved that they had true throwbacks: any uniform before 1955 didn’t have helmets, anything before 1930 didn’t have numbers - including the 1929 Braves uniform with a big Indian head on the back.
@@TPTGopher Oh yeah that was my favorite of the Braves uniform, I don't think it was racist I think it was awesome and a cool design.
I swear when I would play as or against the Twins wearing I wanna say the 1913 Senators jersey it looked like the cups were as big as coconuts or maybe that was graphical limitations.
Pudgemountain Oh I’m 10000% with you on that (HTTR - a team which originally was the Boston Braves as well)...given that 1929 was five years after Native Americans were even granted full citizenship, if anything it’s a respectful.
My nightmare was Satchel Page because he had a 100 mph fastball and a knuckleball! Not fair at all lol😎
iwinzeazy also his windup was fucked
The moral of life is competition is great for every part of existence. It makes you work harder, it inspires innovation. Absolute power corrupts absolutely.
It makes me sad on a daily basis this was the last MLB mvp baseball game. Love the review man. You should do more of these and maybe some gameplay !
When you played the shit out of MVP 2004 and thought it was the best and then see all these videos about MVP 2005 being the GOAT and feel like you missed out. RIP.
Abram Chambers it was basically the same game but owner mode made 2005 legendary also it was the last one so it kept getting modded for years
Abram Chambers And even if the Nationals weren’t good, getting to play as Washington was huge
If you played 2004 when it came out you probably would have picked up 2005 naturally.
Your 9 year old self would be proud of the work you did. So many people cherish this game, as do I. At times, I pass by the closet which holds my bin, which holds my OG Xbox & MVP game, and think, is this the year I take em out??
Could you imagine how good EA could make a baseball game today? The Show would have some serious competition! That would be great to have a competition between the two and would make the games better each year instead of The Show just putting out Roster Updates for $60.00 each year.
Jared Nesbitt it’s so stale i rather play 17 with my god squad then pretty much start all over again on the same shit just a swinging replay on your bat gtfo
Ea good? Only in our dreams bro
The show best ever
Ea would charge you for every ball you home run
ALL modern sports games are trash....EA wouldn't do anything different with today's philosophy of making a sports game.
This was not only the best baseball game but it was the exit of the golden era for sports games
So much nostalgia from when I was 4 and beating my dad at this game. Damn, where does the time go? I need to get this game again.
You can get it on a psp emulator on your phone and play it on the go.
Ikr? So much nostalgia from when I was 2 kicking my dad’s butt at this game because I was a child prodigy
Paul Stella Dude right! So much nostalgia from when I was 10 months old beating my dad at this game. Damn. Dat time doo B flying yo.
High Altitude Reviews - I love you
It's like Nostalgia overload because when I was 3 days old I was beating my dad in this game as well
Still play this game on my gamecube. The soundtrack is dope too
This game and MVP 04 were literally the best baseball games ever made in my opinion. It was literally my childhood.
@@miketacit7049 completely agree. Both games were way ahead of their time

MVP Baseball 2005 is, in my opinion, the best Major League Baseball of the 6th Generation era. The game looks great in 720p HD on Xbox, has a lot of unlockable legends and unlockable classic stadiums. This is a great game.
Thank you so much for this video. This game was my life when I was younger. Thank you so much.
I play this game when i was in middle school and it was a game of a generation
This is actually on my list of best game ever. The hitting was very satisfying. 2k is a joke in hitting.
Great video! Love the music and the background. Great sarcasm.
Enjoyable narration. Good video. Thank you.
I remeber exactly where I bought this game when it first came out. Great memoires! Good stuff my dude.
One of the first games I got on my old Xbox was MVP baseball 2003 and I played it religiously. I tried to find a copy of 05 down the road and I only ever found one with an unreadable disk. I tried 2k5, played it for a week and traded it in for NCAA 06 which gave me everything I was missing from the old MVP games. My favorite part about that game was the create a field feature and playing at Rosenblatt. I’m from Omaha and seeing Rosenblatt in game after being tore down in real life always put a smile on my face, remembering all the games I’d watched there
Loved using Ken Griffey Jr in the HR derby, loved using my Mets on this game: David Wright, Jose Reyes, Carlos Delgado, Beltran. This game was classic
Fantastic video bro. Well thought out.
Amazing video I love the way you review sports video games
One thing that I loved about this game were the signature follow thrus when a home run was hit by the more popular players. I remember hitting home runs with Jim Edmonds and seeing that sweet follow thru.
Just started playing this again.
Hitting is tough man.
Thanks for the tips though, and I'm glad you're still playing it.
Absolutely love this game to this day. Made my day seeing this video popup!
I still play this....why? Cause you can charge the mound and argue calls. Can’t do that in the show...
What about home plate collisions and hard slides to break up double plays?
my greatest video game baseball memory comes from this game. i played an entire season as the Braves and i led my division all season, however, the last month of the season i started to get ahead of myself and within the last 3 games i was 3 games ahead of the Phillies and my final series was against the Marlins. I thought " I just need one win, or them to lose 1 and I'm good. Well the Marlins beat me in all three and had two come from behind victories and the Phillies won all three of their games so I had to face the Phillies in a one game playoff. I had a 4-1 lead going into the bottom of the 8th and I ended up losing 5-4. I was so choked! 16 years old I had a blast anyways. thanks for the memories!
Jim thomes clip in this game was hilarious.
"You see this, because of this, it goes like that" 😂 lol the best
Thanks for taking me down memory lane
The hitting and fielding animations in this game were and are flawless.
I still play this on my ps2 I bought the updated rosters on a memory card and it still cranks. Can still remember staying home from school on a snow day and playing this all day long. 2005 was by far the best year of my childhood, the year I got into sports I just became obsessed. You take this and Espn nfl 2k5 and it’s heaven for an 11 year old.
Wasn't it even possible to throw the ball around the infield after an out? That Owner Mode is so deep, it's something I wanted in 2k and The Show for ages now. All the Legends...Not to mention all the extras you can unlock with cheat codes...Man, this game was waaaay ahead of his time.
This is THE greatest baseball game ever made. I just found my old copy and now I need to get a new Xbox to play again
My favorite baseball game was MVP Baseball 2003 until 2005 came out. These games will forever be immortal in my opinion. I really wish this franchise would be reborn. Now we get shit like RBI Baseball and it's nowhere close to the MVP Baseball series. Great video and I completely agree will everything you said about the owner mode. Just too many things going on. Glad to see others share the opinion that these games were incredible.
This is so nostalgic. Even better because I used the Cardinals every single time so seeing that championship team again really puts me back into my childhood body.
SON, let me tell you when this game came out I was amazing at it. I never had any friends to play with, but I was a beast in Season Mode. That Braves lineup was underrated, plus Smoltz pitching? Maaaaan
Very well put together video sir! Makes me want to pick up the game even though the Show 19 is out
I didn't like Tessie or Let It Dive, but the rest of the soundtrack is downright iconic. An Honest Mistake is still my walkup music in the MLB The Show RTTS.
AYEEEE That's lit!
Hello, do you have a personal relationship with our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ? The Son of God. Do you ask the Lord Jesus to bless you with wisdom, knowledge, understanding, and discernment? Do you ask the Lord Jesus to strengthen you to overcome all of your trials and tribulations? And do you ask the Lord Jesus to forgive you for all of your sins and transgressions?
Those two are absolute bangers though.
Entire soundtrack was trash!
@@user-bj3xb9oy9w , hey, what does your post have to do with the topic at hand? Granted, some MLB players also preached the Gospel, but you are just plain trolling your message here. Now with that being said, while your heart is in the right place, and that your heart also means well, if you plan on preaching the Gospel to people, then, at the very least, you should learn a lesson from the Savior with the Mighty Name of YAHASHUA HA'MASIACH and preach in parables that the common person could relate to in their lives. If Billy Sunday and other MLB players turned evangelists, preachers, ministers, pastors, and such can do it, then so can you, sir or madam.
"One day, this game shall remade once again for modern consoles! It will be a greatest prophecy ever told!"
Played this so much on PS2
this is my favorite baseball series 989,the show and slugfest are also great
Slugfest was the most amazing game 8 year old me ever played. I remember one time me and my brother were playing, and when I was heading home, his catcher hit my player with an upper cut and I swear to buddha he went to the moon. That was the most hilarious thing to us, and we replayed that shit over and over again laughing our heads off.
MONARCHSFAN90 989 and the show are the same thing it got renamed
Nice video!
Only played this game from when I was 5 to when I was 7 because my copy of the game got scratched and I never bothered to get a new one but god damn looking back I have so many good memories from this game and it’s really what started to get me interested in baseball.
Lol “let it dive” was favorite right behind “honest mistake”
I still play this game to this day. I actually took the time to trade all the players on the last team they played for or retired on. Addicting
Thumbnail got me subbing. Regular show is by far my favorite PG cartoon
This game is the dragon that Sony keeps chasing without success. It is far and away the GOAT. Nice vid.
MVP baseball is like Michael Jordan and The Show is like LeBron James. James is great but will never be as great as Jordan
JeffSan James is the east Jordan is the league
Is this the one that has the song "Honest Mistake"? I used to have it for the GameCube, I believe.
Beautiful
I was also 9 when I played this and I also agree with you on owner mode 😂 this game was great every time I played 2k or the show I always look back at this game and say "this game will never be as great as MVP"
i was 15 and owner mode was my shittttttttttttttttttttttttttttt
Woahh, I didn't k ow in MVP 2006 you could change the dimensions of the wall, that's awesome
huh, I didn't know about the Katie Roy skeleton key cheat, I just got this game as something to play when I got bored with Melee, because it's baseball. Also, great video. Subbed, :)
The 2004 Soundtracks were the best though.
I grew up a red sox fan and have so many fond memories of this game and baseball itseld from back then.
I play so much of this when I was 9, in 2009. I loved everything about it but over time it would start freezing occasionally when I went to play franchise mode or to play the batting mini game. So I ended up having to start playing MLB The Show 2010 for the franchise mode, which was awesome and I played the hell out of it, but it didnt allow you to customize a stadium. But it did go very deep into setting prices for everything and told you how much people were willing to pay, which I checked on every week and increased the prices as far as people would be happy with paying.
RED SOX HISTORY LESSON: Tessie WAS the anthem (or rally call) for the red sox back in like the 1300's or whenever baseball first started. Dropkick covered it to help break the teams curse; it was the anthem for the 04 season, and like Bronson Arroyo's cornrows, was sorta left with the '04 team. The ACTUAL anthem played at EVERY game is Sweet Caroline. Yankees Suck, thank you for coming to my TED Talk
Evan Lukash bro did you just say the 1300s
I love this game so much. I remember that when i started to lose i would just turn off my xbox and the game i was losing would just restart. Cardinals had a good 2005 year, going 162-0 thanks to power button.
Great video I agree with your opinions and your what you said, and this sounds like a great idea but can you do episodes of your doing gameplay
I still bump "The IROC-Z Song" to this day 🤘🏼 biggest slapper in the game and that's saying a lot with this godlike soundtrack
My Fav Game... Homerun derby, Owner mode, edit any player.. I Looked fwd to playing this everyday.. My girlfriend was mad till she got into it😁 Classic 5 🌟
Remember playing this game. Classic
Damn, seeing this game again is making me feel emotional. It was such a good time.
Not sure how i got here, hell i dont even watch baseball yet i watched the vid and found it to be interesting. Good job, Rigby
My team(Yankees) drafted Masahiro Tanaka in my season mode, it absolutely blew my mind.

I was eleven when my dad bought the game
this games music gives me cool nostalgia of little league and summer didnt realize how great the game was at the time as a kid well compared to shit to come
an absolute classic
Imagine if EA had never stopped making the MVP Baseball series? The Show would have NEVER had a chance lol!

RUclips: here is a MLB MVP 2005 video
I loved to throw the ball around the horn after every out 😂
i turned hitters eye off, hitting view to center, fielding view to broadcast, and pitch speed to 100.....have fun playing a realistic game with those settings....its magic
I had this and the previous installment. Played this shit religiously everyday after school. One of the first games to develop multiple angle pitch types (9 to 12 sliders vs. 6 to 3)
I was 14. Still my favorite baseball game. I absolutely love it.
I had RBI Baseball for NES when I was 9. That game is immortal.
Never will ever forget when I finally didn’t go bankrupt as an owner and made an actual dynasty. I had won championships before by assembling some good teams, but building an actual dynasty was tough at least for me.
I STILL HAVE THIS OMG
MVP NCAA Baseball 06 and 07 were two of the most underrated sports titles of all-time. Dynasty Mode was so incredibly deep, and I found the lack of real players (not that most of us would've recognized NCAA players in that era anyways) actually helped its immersion. Awesome video Kofie!
Maybe I’m nitpicking a little bit but mvp ncaa baseball didn’t include teams like Princeton UC Davis Marist etc
also, what i do to get around the 162 game season is i choose a pitcher. so for instance, this year, i chose severino, and just make his 25 starts per year, and sim the rest, which is still alot, but better than 162 and i can see my stats on how i did during a full season as a pitcher.
I threw a perfect game with Ryan Dempster in Franchise Mode game, Mark Kotsay didnt start but pinch hit with 2 outs in the 9th, he hit a comebacker off Dempsters leg which I had Dempster run down and pick up throw to 1st just in time to complete the perfecto. Never forget.
Could you do a video on The Bigs games? Those games were awesome too.
Awesome game, and I loved owner mode and I might have been a year our two older than you but I loved how in depth it was all the way to creating your own stadium and keeping your finances in the black.. best baseball game ever!!! I hope for Xbox people that they bring the series back..
I’m busting this out this weekend
All time favourite Baseball Games:
1. Baseball Stars (NES)
2. MVP Baseball 2005 (Game Cube)
3. Super Baseball Simulator 1.000 (SNES)
Baseball games nowadays just doesn’t feel like the older ones
Played this all the time growing up with my brothers
ESPN Major League Baseball is 10000 x better NO JOKE!
I still play this from time to time...it is the only reason I keep an old xbox hooked up in my basement. This needs to come back!!! The games on the market these days have become less arcade and too streamlined. Also...Jon Dowd is the best player of all time lol
The single season mods for the PC version are the shit. My favorites are 1994 & 1988!

God so many great memories of this game.
I played a 162 game season and playoffs and won the world series. It took me over 2 years but since it was the last MVP I rode it out and played some minor league games
Im down with this video. Played the shit out of this game. Can tell its been awhile as everything looks different. Miss my ps2
I played the hell out of this game. I played so many seasons that most of the regular players had retired and teams were comprised of all fictional players.
Owner mode was awesome, but then again I was 20 years old at the time
