My old original XBox just went bottoms up, I took it in to be repaired and they said they couldn't fix it. So I went on eBay and bought another one...for the sole purpose of playing MVP Baseball '05. 17 years after it's release it's still the best video baseball game ever, bar none.
MVP Baseball 05 is the greatest baseball game I've ever played. Ever. The depth of that game's Dynasty mode is and was to this day RIDICULOUS. I truly think this is what MLB The Show tried to model its Franchise mode after.
And it suck imo. Look at madden owner mode are overrated, when it lost it novelty, people will realize that it is not important cause it was not that deep. What game like the show should have focus in are league historical record, player progression & ai management which make franchise mode not fun to play. Setting ticket price should be at the bottom list due to how minimal those things affect player experience because if owner had been that important then madden would be crowned as the best AAA sport franchise mode.
I still own and play this game on my Nintendo GameCube. I am an old fart and am not wanting or needing the latest or greatest thing every 15 seconds. I still derive a great deal of enjoyment from this game. This video was very well done, thank you Lex Marston.
Amen brother. Mvp is the greatest to this day
I went from your NFL 2k5 video, to this, amazing work Lex!
😔This actually makes me kinda sad.... The early 2000s had such great sports games and EA was on top. Now EA has 3 sports titles and they are all trash. The exclusive licensing killed sports games.
So true!
This was an expertly done documentary buddy. 💙
This is crazy quality
This video should not have 88 Likes W T F ! It should have 8.800 Likes!
Great, high quality video about the good old baseball games 👍🏻
I still bring out MVP 2005 every now and then! Always gives me a good hit of nostalgia
Woah heres an underrated sports gaming channel! Great video man, I make similar content and I love to see more of it because sports games need more content creators like this. Liked and subbed!
I really like the topics of your videos. Keep it up. Your channel is going to be big.
@@LexMarston thanks man! RUclipss algorithm finally recommended something good.
This work is amazing. Great job 👍
Your channel is so dang underrated. Need the algorithm to skyrocket for you..
I appreciate the kind words! Knowing you enjoyed the vid is good enough for me. That’s what it’s all about.
Well done sir! This documents my baseball game journey very closely( I was born in 71). I played a lot of the games you highlighted going back to the Intellivision baseball(loved Utopia too by the way). I factored my gaming systems by which one had the better baseball game catalog. My stat nerd friend got me mad hooked on Stratomatic. We would also spend many hours recreating classic MLB rosters to play on Microleague baseball for the C-64. I did buy a ps2 just for the baseball lol I did typically buy 2+ MLB games per year lol We still miss hitting targets in the triple play home run derbies. I love today's games I just wish they add more old game dynamic events like bean ball confrontations and ejections and rain outs that reschedule games into double headers. Take advantage of the rivalry factors, have more interviews in game, do highlights of the days action, execute a more MLB tonight level feel to the presentation. It would be cool to hear Dan Plesac or Sean Casey do a breakdown of a hot player. Sorry for ranting a bit, I'm just a fan that loves the level of immersion MLB games can provide. Maddon struggles with this too so I'm not very optimistic things could get better as I age out, but there's always hope. Great job again
Great video loved the production quality
I love how this whole situation is a reversal of the NFL games. EA made the better game, and 2K killed off the better game by buying the exclusive rights. I get why they did it, but it's a shame they did, as 2K's own games suffered because of it. Who knows what would've came of MVP Baseball when the 7th generation of consoles arrived, although knowing how bad EA is now, it's best that this series is left in the past.
This video made me boot up the old GameCube and play mvp 05. Great work!
Amazing documentary. God i love MVP Baseball 2005
I loved High Heat Baseball, especially on the PC.
Aklaims "All Star Baseball" series for the N64 was easily the best MLB series of that time.
YES! This is just what I needed
MVP was my favorite baseball game. NFL2k5 was my favorite football game. Sadly both were lost.
Omg completely forgot the living room home run derby in triple play. I freaking loved that so much!!!
amazing video dude
The games in this series are so frustrating nearly every game ends 1-0 and usually goes into extra innings. The sliders do absolutely nothing
Thank goodness for emulators. I have this on my steam deck which i use as an emulator and this is the only baseball game I only play and it's still way better than any current MLB The Show game. The owners mode and Franchise mode still kick ass. My favorite part is you can also buy stadiums with points you get for playing the game and also older baseball legends.
Well researched and comprehensive, I hope you continue to grow, the algorithm should have given this more love
Great work! No mention of the Hardball series tho?
Well done
This really needs more views wtf
This game never died. So, in Latin Americans are still playing this game. So even they created their own tournament. If someone is interested in joining a tournament, reach me out.
The Madden deal really changed sports videogames forever huh
I played a lot of dr. J vs Bird!
I can't play this in the uk man, it's so annoying 😔. My only option at the moment is MLB2K11 on Xbox 360, which I do really enjoy. But still, I wish I could play some of the games you guys have. Ps awesome video. Just frustrated as hell for me haha.
I'm in the UK and I've been playing baseball games for donkeys years...OK...admittedly mainly on playstation over Xbox BUT I did have an original Xbox and MVP baseball 04....and yes its a great game... Of course now a days MLB The Show gets a release on Xbox as well as PS4/5 ... No excuse not play some ball !
@@TheCockmeister ive a ps2 and xbox 360
@@KrisVic91 new console required then ! 😉
@@TheCockmeister hmmm. Too expensive for 1 game I think.
Plus wouldn't have time to watch baseball and play a baseball video game.
Well don't moan about not being able to play games then ! Simple as that dude
Damn good video mah boy.
These games are still why I use directional hitting in the show
I wish they would just make another college game on new consoles.
I’d grab mvp baseball 24 so fast 😳
Best ps2 game ever!
These kids wouldn’t understand. When we talk about games that had love and affection, THIS IS WHAT WE MEAN! MLB the show could learn a thing
Better than every mlb the show game
1977 was mariners first year
This was like watching pbs 😂😂😂
First like
EA can shove it. I am NOT a fan of EA. Last year they bought my favorite mobile baseball game, Tap Sports Baseball, changed the name to EA Tap Baseball for one season, and then buried it. They removed it from the ap store and then announced in game on both versions that were still being played (Tap Sports Baseball 22 and EA Tap Baseball 23) that the servers were ending at the end of March 2024. What the h*ck is wrong with them?!
Better than the show, way better
I prefer MVP 2004
But really who cares about MVP? I know people think it's so amazing. MLB the show is true legitimate baseball. Like it just looks like a REAL game, plays like one and is just the best sports simulation ever. I bought my PS3 to get it and I never went back to those red rings of death from Microsoft. I absolutely love the show.
MVP wasn't made by Microsoft /:
@@MEGATBLAZER No you misunderstood. I bought a PS3 due to the red rings of death from the Microsoft 360. Therefore I was able to purchase MLB the show since it was made by Sony Studios. And I never turned back. Please let me know if im still going too fast for you.
@@Gdub33 Too bad I read fast
I don't know if you were being rude or not with last thing you said but I'll do as if you never asked whether you were going too fast or not.
One last thing, MVP Baseball 2005, for its time, was really freaking good, you cannot change that. Hell, even the first MLB The Show back in 06 didn't manage to get the quality MVP Baseball 2005 got
@@MEGATBLAZER hey, I want to apologize. I was super rude. I'm sorry man. That was not cool of me at all to be like that. Yeah MVP was epic for sure. But the show took every aspect and put together an almost perfect product.
@@Gdub33 while I can agree with that, I've seen a lot of people complain about bugs. The game's great but it reportedly has bugs
@sportsdrinktv
Anyone else remember the Patterson cheats for MVP 05?
