I do it the other way around 😄 and have meat just once a week. By reducing my meat intake down to just 'Meaty Monday', my physical and even mental health shot way up. My weight is down, to a healthy BMI. Cholesterol is down. Blood pressure is healthy. I feel clear and fresh and light and enjoy my time in the kitchen. These do look delicious! Especially the little twist of lemon... Awesome
I have a special diet that is so extra! I am plant-based vegan, keto, and I can't have tomatoes or vinegar with the cancer treatment that I take. Most Portobello steak recipes do not adhere to my restrictions. Then I found this video! Thank you, thank you, thank you for posting this recipe! I tried it, and it was scrumptious! 😋😋😋
This is a great meal when for when you are sick. The mushrooms remove toxins, the thyme dries up your sinuses and the lemon helps liver function. My husband and I have c Ovid right now and I'm going to cook this tonight. I just found this channel, I subscribed and hit all on the notification bell. I feel blessed to have found you Lucinda Scala.
I feel like this is missing some depth. I would maybe use grass feed butter, pink salt, "garlic" saute onion,.....then lemon. The butter will crisp it better. If it is still bland... then add mccormicks steak seasoning.
Her show hasnt been on for years. So that probably is not happening. She does have a FB page and Instagram. :) BTW, I loved her show. One of my favorites. Im sad she doesnt have a show anymore!
great job....I have made these many times but tried another youtube demonstration of marinating with balsmic which seemed to make them spongy...your method more straightforward and much better....always like it when you're on QVC
Lucinda, thanks for the video...do you ever spoon out the gills of the portobellas? I find the taste if not scooped out a bit off-putting. I guess it is a personal choice(?).
Anyone nervous about if this will make a good meat substitute, it really does. I often crave mushroom burgers which is just a portobello in place of a patty, mushroom steaks, and you can also do mushroom "steak" and eggs. Healthier version of steak and eggs. I genuinely didn't think it would make a good meat replacement until I tried it. Like how could a mushroom satisfy that meat craving?? But it does.
That was so much more than 4 tablespoons of olive oil...I used a measuring spoon and 4 tablespoons didn't even come close to looking like all that oil in your pan. Try doing it with a measuring spoon and see for yourself the difference in how much oil will be in your pan compared to this video.
Absolutely not.. The gills are rich in flavor. Some people don't like that flavor so they remove the gills, but to me they are missing out on the full flavor of the mushroom.
vegetarian meal with mushroom steaks at your center? What nutrition value does a mushroom have that it can be the center of your meal? how many carbs? fats? protein? lol it is basically a sponge with water
@JORDAN Tyler I still think there is not enough protein, it is 3g for 100 grams of Portobello mushroom. That is a lot of mushrooms to eat in order to get a decent amount of protein intake... I get 25g protein in 100g of meat, and it takes a second to prepare at home, and it tastes better (in my opinion) Sure, i would complement the meat with some Portobello, it goes very well together, But i would probably not be able to live off Portobello as a source for nutrients. If you know of mushrooms that can give me a 25g protein intake for 100g of product, let me know, i'd love to give them a shot
beepIL Wow, you're an idiot. Why don't you take some time to learn a little about nutrition, particularly that of mushrooms, and then whatever it is you think consists of a 'proper center of your meal' - which btw, is one of the dumbest phrases I've heard, what are you, a 1940's house wife? Dietary knowledge has expanded since then. I can't believe there are people who aren't afraid to look like morons and open their mouths to expose their sheer ignorance without doing a little research first. Seriously, invest in some education.
Why do professional chefs and others wear rings in the kitchen? Yuck. My mother always had a ring holder in the kitchen and took her rings off when putting her hands in dough, or washing dishes, etc.
1 day a week not eating meat maybee two.... Lady you are feeding your family wrong. Meat is great but wow..... Way too much meat in your diet....I wonder how much of her red nail polish went into the dish too lol
Dwight Turner Yeah, cannibalism sounds like a great alternative to changing the animal agriculture industry that is destroying the planet. You sound really intelligent and funny.
Really? Do you not touch EVERY OTHER INGREDIENT used in any and every recipe? Unless you dont wash your hands, why would it be dirty? And you obviously dont eat at any public places, if you think she is dirty.

I just made this. the lemon went so well with the flavor of the mushroom. delicious! Thanks for the recipe
I would eat every single one of those, I love those grilled portobellos! So delicious!
I made these right after I watched this video. This is the best recipe ever.

*Looks good! Can you leave the recipe in the description box, or at least the ingredients? Thank you!*

Thanks for sharing this recipe for Portobello Steaks.😋

Daniel M. Edwards i was wondering that! Why didn’t she clean it ??
I ate a few of these instead of burgers and no matter how much i clean the gills, i get black juices. I m scooping out gills for sure next time.
Thanks for sharing this recipe 🌈
Is it an american thing to do, when you keep all the gills in the mushrooms?
Looking good and no animals suffered for this meal.👍😁😍
Animals are for eating also just like a plan.
But the mushrooms sure did.
Mushrooms are sentient
Jason
People used to eat people, and I’m sure they used the exact same justification.
terredee tell that to carnivorous animals who eat other species or even their own kin.
Pizza portobello is a must try!
my favourite mushrooms
I think I would really like that it looks beautiful thank you for the video good job

Isn’t it insane?
lemon and mushroom.
never thought of that.
She doesn't say how long to marinate!
But looks delicious
Love that you left the gills on!
Me too! It's such a waste to remove the gills, they have tons of rich flavor
People remove them?
Are you ever going to have another show????????? I miss it😧😧😧😧😧😧😧😧😧😧
😋Looks yummy. It’s vegetarian meals everyday for this vegetarian.
What did the marinade consist of?
Lemon juice
Olive oil, lemon juice, salt, pepper, thyme sprigs
You couldn't just re-watch the beginning? Does your RUclips videos self-destruct after watching?
@@jmsasek18 Yep, pretty much.
@@jmsasek18 LMAO!
Well young lady speak for yourself. I enjoy quite a bit of moisture on my mushroom.
Preach
Gosh they are massive.
Exactly I eat 2 meatless meals a week
Best stay on the safe side and avoid malnutrition by serving these with a nice juicy steak.

They are still to squishy, you need to squeeze some moisture out while cooking.
Who is this lady?
She looks yummy
😎
If most people could actually afford portobellos, maybe this would be more helpful.
I didn't know Katie Hopkins could cook
I thought u were supposed to clean out the gills
Absolutely not.. The gills are rich in flavor. Some people don't like that flavor so they remove the gills, but to me they are missing out on the full flavor of the mushroom.
You only clean them out if you aren’t a cook.

Way to take the entire video out of context to flex your superiority complex, moron.

What a stupid comment. Didnt your mom paint her nails? LOL
Save a cow -- eat a vegetarian.
Dwight Turner Yeah, cannibalism sounds like a great alternative to changing the animal agriculture industry that is destroying the planet. You sound really intelligent and funny.
Dwight Turner If you're trying to save a cow, wouldn't it make more sense to eat a meat eater?? I know they're probably disgusting, but still..
Dwight Turner Well. Some people got way too triggered over this comment. 😂😂

Uggh...Dirty fingers in salt bowl. How about using a shaker? How many other fingers have been in that salt bowl?

Horrible
Great looking
