Johnny was a legend for sure. In his time you actually had to have real talent and determination to make it in the music industry. Not like nowadays with RUclips, Tick-tock and lots of AI special effects so just about anyone can make music and be on the world stage overnight. If he was alive today though I'm sure he'd be shaking his head at the antics of his drug using nephew Andrew.
My mother never liked this man and singled him out, couldn't stand him. We went to a family reunion to discover they are cousins 😂 I'll never understand my mother's aversion. I'm so proud of the connection and love his style. What a legend!! He really is something and his music has stood the test of time.
'She's My Baby" was recorded for Liberty Records at Gold Star in Hollywood at a 5 song session held on November 5, 1959. It was produced by Snuff Garrett and arranged by Ernie Freeman. The song featured LA's top session players including Plas Johnson (tenor) & Jewel Grant (bari) on saxes, Rene' Hall, Graham 'Scotty' Turnbull & Barney Kessell (guitars), Red Callender (bass) and Earl Palmer (drums)The bass singer featured on the song is George McCurn, who had a solo hit in 1963 with the song "I'm Just A Country Boy" for A&M Records.
Sadly, only a fraction of his catalog ever saw release here in the United States. But that fraction was more than enough to inspire me to seek out the rest of it, which I did. One of the absolute masters. He is greatly, greatly missed.
JOK what can one say what an Aussie legend there will only ever be one JOK will always love your 🎶🎶 music

Australia's rock n roll king without a doubt and that recording is one of many that demonstrates just why he has that supreme status.

Fun fact- TV Personality Andrew O’Keefe is related to this man.
Absolutely right. Andrew is John's nephew 🙂
@@teresakym2672 And I wouldn’t be at all surprised if Andrew O’Keefe can sing as well! He’s a pretty good all-rounder I would think. 👌

Hate to say it but ...
