Love your video. Thanks for telling us about the latest Google home updates. Your recommendation on using various brands of tuya products will mean that I have to get multiple hubs and gateway for that specific brands before I can integrate them into Google home. Is there like a single hub or gateway that can integrate all brands of tuya devices or it is better to get separate hubs for various brands?
any tuya zigbee hub can control any tuya zigbee devices, unless the manufacturer made some special tweak to the firmware else it should all work this way
@@AlexTeo Didn't know that. Thank you so much for the info. Any idea when the new update on the Google Home is going to be roll out in our region? Very excited looking at the screenshots you have shared in the video especially the more advance automations available in the new update.
Hi Alex. Many thanks for your video. Appreciate the time and effort that went into this. Started out my HA journey with my current place several years ago and now looking to build up the next place. Wanted to get your thoughts on the whole Local vs. Cloud debate. I purchased a HE to try and go down the local route but even integrating simple tuya sockets is proving to be painful. Not sure if this is best forum for discussions but would love to hear your thoughts on a few things (from 1 geek to another)
the cloud vs local debate is always based on a few points - performance, security, reliability. In singapore, we hardly have any internet outages so I am not concerned with that. I am also fine with security since I am not a celebrity, I am alright with my data sitting on the cloud. I guess partly is because i work for a cloud company. The only reason I will go for a local smart home setup is for performance, a simple motion detected and switch on light should not take more than 3 seconds
@@AlexTeo Hi Alex, looking at this seems like can't do the sensor to turn on light without a smart things hub. any way to do it ? like direct thru tuya app?
Nah not yet, there must be a strong reason why i want to add another hub to a setup. Even with matter compatible, you are still limited with google home app which can't set triggers with sensors and buttons
One detail on Google Wifi 2nd generation, if you get 2 or 3 routers instead of the original pack 1 router + 2 points, you can connect them over ethernet and they will work as points 👌
Google home support team: Will you please support the newer nest cameras on the nest app rather than the google home app? The nest app is far superior and I would like all my cameras on the same app rather than needing to view the newer one on the awful google home app.

The cables are burnt and the switch cannot be used. 1 by 1 its spoil.... even 1 gang to control lights. its not working. i open up. the copper cable is burnt with the burning smell.. Its connected normally by my electrician. nothing out of the norm. i using the non-neutral. its a new BTO. I use only 2weeks. some of it at the start was already spoil. The switch is forever on.
I wondering if anyone you met have such experience. Perhaps can share any solution/causes.
Thank you!
Hi Alex, quick question. If i were to run everything over zigbee and have added it to Tuya Smart Life, am I able to individually control the devices on Google Home after linking it to the Tuya Smart account?
Nope, not every devices on tuya is supported on google home. That is why I suggest to do most of your automations on tuya
@@AlexTeo hmm.. means the only way is to link the tuya account to know what's controllable. Was thinking on what the limitations are if using the sonoff nspanel to control tuya devices via google home 🤣. So now it would seem that a control panel that can support tuya smart app would be another consideration 🤔
@@edwinlek2895 pretty sure you cant configure anything on the nspanel on google home, can double check with sonoff
@@AlexTeo yes, i too think the nspanel is non-configurable. Would be great if there is a panel able to run tuya smart app or function like an android tablet itself 🤭
Do i have to buy the gateway in-order to connect all the zigbee's devices?
zigbee devices always needs a zigbee hub to communicate
@@AlexTeo is it doesnt matter how many devices i have and how big my house is. I just need one zigbee hub?
@@bendyeo a zigbee network is similar to setting up a wifi network, certain devices can extend the network or you could also get a zigbee repeater
@@AlexTeo thank you sir. Very helpful.
Hey Alex, what's your opinion on aqara's integration with Google home? Is it as good as tuya?
Integration is fine but aqara doesnt have uk smart socket, power strips, smart lights and etc.. they have a region setting which many people are confused
@@AlexTeo so when buying aqara's products I should always ask if it's a 'global' version? So as not to get region locked?
@@zeinfiz ya just get the global ver if you are using with google home to be 100% sure it will always work
Hi Alex, I can't manage to subscribe to nest aware in Singapore. Is there something that I have to do first?
How come? I can't really remember already, did it on web browser
Great stuff and many thanks for this video. What are your thoughts on Aqara light switches + door lock with the Google ecosystem for voice control (speaker, display)for a home? Seems they will converge with Matter eventually and your earlier videos have me sold on Aqara devices 😂. Thanks!
Same here! Decided to get the aqara a100 door lock because I saw his review! And I'm planning to install d1 switches for my house.
Matter wont change the limitation of the google home app. No issues if you are going to have only aqara devices in your smart home. If you can, go with apple homekit if you are going with aqara devices
Thanks for the quick reply! Will use the affiliate links to purchase subsequently!
Hi Alex. I just finished watched your video. How can i get Google Nest Doorbell in Malaysia?
i suppose there will be some unofficial local resellers in shopee msia or other online shopping sites. If you have friends going overseas to countries that sell the doorbell, can also ask them to help you buy as well
I have cousin live in spore. How much does it cost now wired/wireless doorbell? I'm using Tuya Doorbell now,but when someone press the doorbell,it will not pop up on my 2nd gen nest hub display. So sad
@@DRUHKL i bought mine from the US, SG official google store don't sell too. Yup only the nest doorbell will auto pop up on nest hub
I am interested in the nest cam but I just found that Google is not selling it directly in Singapore. The power cable is from a different region?
@@winsonlim7702 its just a usb-c cable inside
Hi Alex thanks for the video. I am from Malaysia hope i could get the devise in Malaysia. May i ask self installation will it be complicated or we need to hire someone for the installation? Please advise for a person who don’t have much knowledge in smart home. Thanks 🙏
Installation of what kind of device? Other than those that requires wiring which you will want a certified electrican, the rest of the devices are just configuration on the app which you can follow the user manual
Hi Alex, can you enlighten on how easy/difficult to link Samsung devices to Google home for example Samsung tv?
Very easy... add the tv to smartthings then add smartthings to google home
Hi Alex, love your informative videos! Wonder if you could help a brother out here. I'm planning to smartify my new house by controlling everything using Google Home Assistant. Would you recommend Tuya for my peripheral devices or Aqara? I understand that both should be able to integrate with the Google Home App quite smoothly now. How would you compare Tuya and Aqara? TIA
My recommendation for google home is as per what you see in this video, you can refer to my other videos if you decide to go with other platforms
What about the thread radio is it turned on yet?!?
google nest hub? yes its a thread border router
Hey Alex, great video. Any plans to do a similar video on Samsung SmartThings?
Yup this month
How I wish I would be as IT-savvy as you.. so nice your futuristic home. 🤩
just an IT nerd that likes tech 🤓
Thanks Alex for the video 👍Very useful and valuable information
How do you subscribe to nest aware from singapore?
just go to google US store and subscribe from there
Can you do a Aqara smarthing buyer guide? Thanks
Smartthings guide this month
Hi Alex, thanks for the informative video, always looking forward to your new posts.. A non-smarthome related question.. Where did you get the do not ring bell door sign shown in ur video? We really need one as well ☺️
haha, i am ok with pressing doorbell, not ok with knocking of the door

Thanks Alex, great video. Will you be able to share and compare the advantages between using Apple HomeKit vs Google Home on an everyday basis? Would be great if you can do a deep dive since these are the two main platforms in SG now and features have improved. Thanks :)
apple homekit hands down better, 100% recommend for apple users
@@ckbekeong the public preview app is already very usable, you can go to settings -> general -> public review
For the locks, can unlock using Google assistant?
yup
How much is the electricity when adding this smart home? -- Also, how much did it cost you set all this up.
Thanks Alex very informative and useful🙏
The IKEA blinds looks good and most likely Matter/Thread compatible in time to come. Have you tested the new DIRIGERA hub?
Nah not yet, there must be a strong reason why i want to add another hub to a setup. Even with matter compatible, you are still limited with google home app which can't set triggers with sensors and buttons
Nice! 👍👍
I have a Google Nest Hub. Love it!
One detail on Google Wifi 2nd generation, if you get 2 or 3 routers instead of the original pack 1 router + 2 points, you can connect them over ethernet and they will work as points 👌
Yup thats why i mentioned if you can only do a wireless mesh backhaul for the 1st gen
I think Matter smart devices is the way to go for 2024 💯
i hope so, but they have not been v good
@AlexTeo I think setting up a Matter Smart device should be as easy just like connecting to a Bluetooth device 💯
My video was feature at 05:38 😁
Google home support team:
Will you please support the newer nest cameras on the nest app rather than the google home app? The nest app is far superior and I would like all my cameras on the same app rather than needing to view the newer one on the awful google home app.
very very unlikely haa, very obvious they are trying to move everyone and everything to the google home app
You make things sound so complicated
oh? sorry man i always try to explain as layman as possible
Can you help me setup my Smart Home, which is a 3 storey terrance house? I would gladly pay you.
sorry i don't provide such services :)
Very simple user platform???😮😮😂😂😂😂. I can't set up my services in years........
The wyze cameras work very well, natively with google
