Loki getting pregnant from a horse, the foot beauty contest, and this event some times makes me wonder if Norse Mythology wasn't some kind of religious shitpost.
Don't forget the seal slap fight that got covered by Overly Sarcastic Productions!
@@Amy_the_Lizard omg i loved that video!
Isn’t most religion just agreed upon shitpost cannon? Like think about it, the Greeks, Aztecs, ancient Mesopotamians, Egyptians, Christians. It’s all shitposting and mass murder
I rememeber years ago I saw someone make a post that said Ragnarok is just Norse Mythology Jackass.
And since then every time I hear a story from it I always hear in my head "Hi I'm Odin, I'm Thor, I'm Loki, and this is Ragnarok."
@@sheriffbutterball7824 I disagree, I think many religions use symbolism and metaphors to express some human concept, obviously it has its ''wtf'' moments but most you see a reason or something wanting to be communicated (but the genocide part I can't disagree), in however I don't see much being communicated with the ''foot beauty contest'' maybe there is but I'm just ignorant and I see it as a shitpost.
Something about Loki suggesting therapy is the kind of thing that tells you that even HE isn’t cool with genocide
Loki isn't cool with genocide. Be like Loki.
...in this specific regard, I mean. Don't be like Loki in general.
@@xarxos5274 then be like other Loki
@@xarxos5274 Too late, I am currently giving birth to a horse
Not like they killed anyone…
Now we known why he think the God os better deads
There's a part of the story in end that reads:
Thor: alright Loki let's get out of this place
Loki: don't you know that a proper widow should wear black?
Well then my ex already has that covered
OH BOI
then he died
Thor: "Of course I do. Just ask my fellow Avenger Natasha."
@@legoking6165 Alright that made me chuckle
If I had a nickel for every time Loki dressed up Thor to be someone's bride, I'd have two nickels.
Which isn't a lot but it's weird it happened twice
Wait it happened a second time HOW?!
@@Nostromoq Not entirely sure but I think Loki dressed up Thor to be Tyr's bride. No missing hammer or anything that time it was just a prank
@@Meme_tlg_69 Huh thats interesting thanks for telling
If you didn’t read this in doofenshmerts voice you didn’t
I’d have 2 as well. From this and from reading an explanation in magnus chase
i love how Freya *The Goddess of Love* is absolutely willing to shed some blood just so she doesnt have to marry a discord mod lmao
Shes also the goddess of battle and death suprisingly
After the Aesir risked having to give her to the Master Builder, who WAS a jotun by the way, Freya's 500% done going through that again.
@@oliverchua7418 "all's fair in love and war*
@@videogollumer wait, the MB was a jotun?
@@ProjektTaku Yes, he concealed his identity, and only revealed his true form to attack the Aesir after Loki lured away his horse.
I love this story. It's so funny. Imagine if Marvel actually put their Thor in a wedding dress for a specific scene or occasion. I'd pay good money for that.
Thor love and thunder?? Maybe??
@@nasaf1sh
Hopefully...
Chris Hemsworth would probably be down for that

Time traveler bro.
This is THE most funny story from Norse mythology. The absurdity. The fact that Loki could have shapeshifted into Freya but instead decided cross dressing was the answer. Such a romp
Loki wouldn't be Loki if he didn't take the opportunity to troll Thor. Besides, Thor was the one who allowed the hammer to get stolen so he has to take some personal responsibility for getting it back.
I mean, when given the option of doing something sensible or embarrassing his prideful foster nephew, is it any surprise that Loki made the choice he did?
Also fun fact it was Hemidal who suggested Thor dress up as Freyja 😂
It's also actually Heimdall who suggests that Thor should be the one to dress up
Which is funny given how he's normally serious and doesn't much like Loki but is now joining in to get Thor into an EPIC PRANK
Loki: -Have you ever consider therapy?
Thor: -Do you?
Loki: -Fair point.
"wait why do I have to use dress up like Freya when you can just shapeshift?!?"
urgh, I think you don't understand the comedic value of the situation.
Loki got bam by a horse once so no
Well there was liberty in telling this story. Real Thor wouldn't notice that detail
@@zerlichr426 thor was too arrogant to notice the embarrassment.
Well then how would they disguise Thor as a bridesmaid? You could make up some sort of excuse for Freya, but for some random maid, probably not.
@@boo1boot261 brutally so.
This is my favorite Norse Myth! Something about how it reads like a sitcom just makes it better.
The first FanFic ever made: Thor x Thrym lemon
Again 10 hours ago and the video was made 2 hours ago
@@ApexRexZero The video was set as a premiere. You can comment on those before the video actually is released. Fun fact.
The majority of norse myths read like sitcoms.
Or a Plautine comedy!
Dont really know if there's been anybody to mention it, but it was Heimdall who came up with the idea of getting Thor dressed as Freyja tho
Ah i see there, none yet
True. But jake probably gave us a clip notes version or thought it be more entertaining if he just focused on Thor and Loki.
@@moondivine2288 could be
Forgot about that
which just makes it way more amusing
wait, i just noticed that thor said in his vow " till death tear us apart" and after that he he killed The giant which mean hypothetically he was basically giant's wife not "freya"
But the jotun is dead so…
@@spino-ace Thor may have been cross dressing to sneak into the wedding but he is still a man of his word.
@@GhostBear3067
Yes
I know
But in the end he killed everyone
Not really.
Im surprised that giant seriously believed Thor was a woman. His beard is bigger than me!
That gigant had very specific kinks
Edit: Actually made that comment before watching the video, and wow, was I right.
From what I remember when I looked into it, he had extremely very terribly bad eyesight paired with some interesting, uh..... interests
Well he was wearing a bridal veil in the myth and it was a dark lit place so the giant couldn't tell who or what was waiting to kiss him
beard is a woman thing
I mean this *is* ancient Europe.
I love how Freya is constantly just denying the requests for being exchanged for something to the point where she probably is just always strapped and ready to roll 🤣🤣
2:16 Love that Lady Loki still has the crazy eyebrows
0:36 oh hey look, it’s Magni and Modi in the background, the children of Thor.
2:23 at least he got drip on his phone case
3:58 caught me entirely off guard
Fun fact:it wasn't actually Loki's idea it was actually heimdall who came up with this sorry if I have some spelling mistakes
1:10 love the reference to Patrick rothfuss . Also my favorite series 😂
Ooo, I remember this one. Quite a fun story honestly
Loki suggesting Thor to go see a therapist gives me the feeling that when Thor goes to Therapy, his therapist is just Loki with squared glasses.
I screamed when I saw this. This exact story is what made my love of Norse Mythology flourish. 😌
I love how *Loki* tells *Thor* that he should be in therapy
He's Thor, he's Thor in tights. He goes around the realms looking for fights.
🎶🎶
I seem to remember hearing the "Thor as Freya" idea was Heimdal's rather than Loki's. Because the other gods can get in on the pranking giants for LOLs.
Yeah! Apparently Freya got so mad at the audacity of that king that her necklace exploded from her neck and Everyone ducked for cover.
Then Heimdal was like “maybe we don’t have to send Freya per se…”
Loki: 👀
if I had a nickel for every time someone wanted Freya's hand in marriage for something then I'll have enough to fill the Marianna trench
Did it really happen more than twice?
@@videogollumer *yes*
@@ProjektTaku Is that counting her husband, Odur?
The cross dressing plan was not Loki’s idea, it was Heimdall’s
This is actually a real myth. You spiced it up a bit with modern language but I read this story in my history class in school.
Loki probably thought it was too easy for him to pose as Freya and besides it's much more amusing for Thor being the bride.... He's not wrong tho
Did anyone else never notice that Thor’s torso was completely covered by hair? Never found it out until Jake addressed it
Mythology should be made into a really weird romcom
Wait... It already is
Please tell me what thing you are talking about is cause i want to watch that show
3:46 "Oh honey, wait before we're in the bedroom"
"Then loki decided to investigate" completely glossing over Thor threatening him with immense pain. 🤣
The version I heard was it was actually Thor's idea to dress up a Freya and Loki went along to keep Thor from screwing up.My headcanon of thatThor: "And that's my plan"
Loki: "But wouldn't it be easier for me to do it? I'm a shapeshifting con artist after all."
Thor: "Last time you got knocked up by a horse! I'm taking the helm this time."
In reality it was Heimdall behind the plan
I thought Thor was actually transformed into a woman to do this. I can’t remember exactly, but I also think Loki did it as a “it’s just a prank, bro” thing.
the ting about the beard and the eating and the drinking was in the story
Thor wore a disguise, he was not shapeshifted. and yes, he did not get recognized despite the fact that he still wore his beard.
Also this was Heimdall's idea, not Loki's.
Loki actually dressed up Thor as a bride twice, so you're not actually wrong.
No he didnt transformed.. In that story, it was specified how he covered his beard and red eyes with weil.. And giantesses commenting about his huge legs unfit for a women when he pulled his dress up to walk through puddle.
I did a play on this in the 6th grade, such a funny story 😄
I want to see this so bad
Especially the part where Thor killed all those Jötnar, hilarious 😂
Never stop making these.
I love how Loki has chronic evil conniving appearance syndrome
3:29 this is the only reason it took this video so long to make
Someone make this a meme or gif
I loved how it just panned to Fraya with a firearm and then back to Thor and Loki
1:51 would be hilarious taken out of context
These are so brilliantly done! This channel will definitely blow up at some point and it the high 6 digits. Only a matter of time until the stupid algorithm picks it up.
1:25 Asgard (hehehe)
Imma be honest, I thought he was laughing at the name. If I were an enemy of that place, I would take every chance to call it Ass-guard.
Isn't that what the Grand Master did in Thor Ragnarok? XD
The Myth does makes some sense at its core. Thor loses (possible due to his own carelessness) his weapon which if you look at it would be a bad thing to happen to anyone (losing the one tool someone needs to forfill his role in society most of the time is). As a result/punishment he is required to do something that could be described as argr. Sounds like the stereotypical cautionary tale to me.
Moral: Dont lose your divine smiting hammer....
Also: Thrym needs Fielmann
Also Also: Giant weddings are fun
Also Also Also: Wasnt Freya already married? And why do the giants always want her as their price?
For the Also also also, itd probably be a source of pride to take Odin's "the all father creator of the universe" wife from him
Yes, Freya was married Odur. Also, I'm pretty sure the reason the Giants wanted her is because she's pretty much the Norse Aphrodite.
@@Brian-tn4cd You're going into the blurred line between Freya and Frigga. Some identify them as the same, but the general view, I believe, is that Frigga is Odin's wife, where as Freya is married to Odur.
@@videogollumer Well according to Loki she once had an one night stand with a dwarf. In exchange for a pretty necklace if my memory doesnt trick me.
@@f.w.3823 Frigga or Freya?
My favourite God is probably Loki. I mean look at those eyebrows, and moustache!🤣🤣🤣
2:43
oh i see you put me in the video too.
One of my favourite stories
I always love hearing about this myth, thanks Jake!
These Norsemen could be hired to write for sitcoms today, this shite is golden
I absolutely love this story. I also love Neil Gaiman’s depiction of it in his Norse Mythology book. Still has one of my favorite jokes:
“I’d like to borrow your feathered cloak,” Said Loki, “the one that lets you fly.”
“Absolutely not,” said Freya. “That cloak is the most valuable thing I possess, it’s more valuable than gold! I’m not having you wearing it and going around and making mischief.”
“Thor’s hammer has been stolen. I need to find it.”
“… I’ll get you the cloak.”
Loki really just wanted Thor to make a full of himself
fool*
Actually, I think it was Heimdall or Odin (forgot which) that came up with the idea, Loki just got sent along to make sure Thor didn't mess up
It was Heimdall's idea lol
"Ever considered therapy?"
-Loki 2022
The best part of this is the shade thrown at Rothfuss 😂 I died
Damn it's been such a long time since I read the wise man's fear that I completely forgot about it, now you remind me after ages and he STILL hasn't finished the trilogy
Yeeeesss, I read it three times thinking that the next one was going to come out. Now I don't remember anything so I'm going to have to read the entire saga as soon as the third book is published
The kings phone case is pretty accurate to his personality I’d say
I remember this. Thor disguised himself and pretended like he was going to marry a giant in order to steal back his hammer. And of course it was Loki's idea
Actually the plan was thought up by another god named Heimdall, but Loki did play along as a maiden because... he's Loki
This myth is so funny. Imagine Chris hemsworth in a prom dress💀💀
I'd sacrifice a thousand souls to see that...
And Tom Hiddleston as the maid? I'd give ANYTHING
I love how you kept Loki mouth stitched up
In one version I heard cross dressing Thor was Heimdall's idea.
I just found your channel and I'm already in love .
1:50 I just love how they jump to another page where Freya is holding guns
It’s okay, Thor. *Sometimes, it takes a real man to become best girl.*
BTW, I enjoy the little family photo at 0:36. It was actually pretty wholesome.

2:12 this is the Lokiest thing to do
I love how Loki just has mouth stitches now
"Have you ever considered therapy?"
"The Hel is that?"
I always believed that it was Heimdall idea to pit Thor in the dress not Loki
The channel is so funny! I love your content! (:
That is a good point Loki is the one with shape shifting powers
My funny takeaway is that every masc thing Thor does in drag is SUPER attractive to the groom. They don't even have to hide it much.
man this dude is spot on with his myths and is awesome at animating
I loved the doors of stone mention!!!
Loki saying "the end of the world is something i definitely don't want to do" is very funny after you know what happens in the myths
I like how you draw Loki with his mouth stitched shut bc of that one time he did a dumb thing. Only one time.
I just read the part where Alex wears a wedding dress to fake marry Thyrm in Magnus Chase-
ya to be samirah! i thought of that too
Remember this myth from overly sarcastic Productions. Cant wait to see how jake reinterprets it
I know after this wedding thor will be the laughing stock of asgard after loki tells them what happened
Can you please do Egyptian Mythology please?

Hey, we learnt about this myth this week at school and now this.
I love this story !
the best part of the story is that Loki DIDN'T suggest the whole plan. it was Heimdall
The god of thunder being scared of a glock is one of the funniest things I've ever seen
Loki is really looking forward to the entryways of rock
such a small thing but genuinely the top surgery scars on the dude in the beginning almost brought me to tears
this is what i needed.
I've seen this so many times and just now realized one of the men in the beginning has top surgery scars, Jake is truly iconic
