They make an ANTI-STATIC SPRAY that you use in-between the laying down of the Basecoat that will keep most of the dust out. One more thing that us OLD GUYS do is ground the car by disconnecting the battery and run a chain to the ground somewhere under the car. I have a Grounding Rod drilled into the floor of the shop that works great !. Last thing I see your building dirt on your masking paper that is due too to fast of Reducer or Reactive Reducer, so move up to a slower or higher temp reducer. That way you can tack your car and the masking paper removing the dirt. Hey what do I know I've been painting for over 45 years now and rarely get more than 10 specs of dust in a job. Go buy a garden watering bucket one with a larger nozzle and lightly water that floor and spray outside your booth doors too.
Doug did an ace job on sanding the door perimeter and masking the interior, not a job for anyone who frustrates easily. Getting the car unwrapped is a delicate job which cannot be rushed. Jolene and Chad and the whole gang should be proud of this job. I think having a tarp under the car would draw some of the overspray/dust (Static?), but walking on it would be a major hazard, and as we saw yesterday it was like walking on taffy and just an accident waiting to happen. The car looks spectacular. Well done team Hiltz.
Chad & Jolene, the car looks absolutely gorgeous congratulations on a fantastic street rod a beautiful lead sled! Chad you did an absolutely amazing job on the car and you can be really proud of your work. I have watched you paint a car before so I thought it would turn out really nice. I like how you did not say to much to the critics that acted like you never painted before and all though they live to be critical and probably still will be everyone else knows now that you know what you are doing! Chad if you have to use tape on the paint to do the engine compartment please use painters masking tape it is a little more expensive but, it will not damage paint and it will not leave adhesive behind. Minus the bad chrome if it was me I would be proud to have it in any car show! Jolene you really have good taste the color you chose is awesome and it will look even better out in the sun. I am sure I will like whatever you choose for the interior, I personally could see a light Buckskin or a light tan interior in it but, it is your car so you go for it! Great camera & video work as well like usual you are a woman of many talents!
WOW!!!! ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL, I gotta be honest, when i first seen that color in the can i thought ohh noo, but then seeing it on the skirts, trunk, and hood I was blown away, i cannot wait to see this thing complete, I've watched every single episode of this build, and i have learned so much, thank you team hiltz for the dedication and humility, you're truly amazing people!!! GREAT JOB!!!
I have been watching this channel, Bad Chad and Jolene since the beginning. One thing I have learned is that he knows what he is doing. So with that said, to all the people who said he can't do it this way or that way, too high pressure, can't DA sand etc. It is time for the nay Sayers to eat crow ! Chad and Jolene and company, you knocked it out of the park. I stood by your decisions from day one. Congratulations!!!!!!!!!
Wow!! Shout out to Chad! Incredible amount of work! He took a lot of criticism but politely carried on with his own methods. Looks beautiful! Congrats Hiltz crew!
if you ever do planning on buffing the car its always good to wait a full month before buffing a car in the first place. BTW The PAINT JOB LOOKS TOTALLY AMAZING. LOOKS FANTASTIC love the color Jolene YOU NAILED IT. Can't wait to see it assembled and taken for a cruise. I would definitely paint the dash as well, I wouldn't leave it the way it is. I'd paint the dash a light creme color. or green, I'm sure whatever color you pick Jolene it will look great for the interior that is. You nailed it chad looks amazing! it's going to be stunning in the sun light.
Hey guys it turned out great fyi I had mentioned and was surprised that I put down water when I first started painting and had no booth, I was surprised when I seen ya do it, but when I saw ya put the tarp dow and not wet it I knew you were in trouble, wetting it as I said draws the overspray down, holds it down and don’t let it get sticky and washes right off the floor, and if you’d have wet the tarp it wouldn’t have been sticking to your feet 🦶 but t you persevered and got it done and that’s why you are Bad Chad although I never had a Queen Jolene to chase my hose for me lol so use the water if ya want or through it away as you said but it always worked for me as it did you in the hood… thanks to all of you and keep up the great work!! 👍😊🇺🇸
I haven't followed along on this build entirely. I did see a lot of hate and I cant lie, I was a bit thrown off with some of the processes. But the final result is dam good in reality. The dirt in the paint will come out with a cut and polish if you wanted that. Its flat and has next to no texture. I was looking for issues using your strip lights, and its impressive for that size car, blocked with a DA. That's a level of skill that most wont have, so I would suggest blocking with quality hand blocks if your don't have that DA experience or able to read the panel as you go at least. Anyway, its looks great mate, I'll eat humble pie for any negative thoughts I had. Well done!
I think cream interior with caramel piping would look pretty nice. The car turned out fantastic! Kudos to Doug for all the sanding he did...and kudos to Jolene for all her filming and taping... and kudos to Chad for his designs and hard work!!! Can't wait to see the finished car!
I keep loving this car more every step of the way. Thanks for what you do. You are all a very cohesive team. I appreciate each and every one of you. I don’t comment very often but my day is always better when I get my “Chad and Jolene fix” as I like to call it. Love you guys!
Beautiful job!!!! I will say though, when I was watching Chad sweep and mop that concrete floor, I was thinking there is no way he could get all of the dirt and dust off the floor. He could have done it 50 times, with clean water each time and still that floor would not have been cleaned because of the rough concrete surface. Mopping the floor with dirty water is only moving the dirt around!! I strongly suggest that you epoxy the floor before you paint your next vehicle !! That will give the floor a nice smooth surface which would be much, much easier to clean and keep dust free!!!
I agree. Paint the floor white and then put 3M paint fabric on the floor. Pricy, but so easy to keep the booth clean and remove it when it becomes full of overspray.
The satisfaction of all that work being done and looking so good far outweighs the satisfaction of proving all the critics wrong on SEVERAL different points during the process, haha. Looks awesome and will stand out at local shows and drive ins. Need to get some photos at an in&out burger, or anywhere girls serve the food on trays wearing roller skates, :).
I Know How Stressed Out You Were Before Painting & At The Start Of Painting......BUT! What I Now Enjoy Is Your Thrill! Happiness! Sense Of Well Deserved Accomplishment! Love It When You Get The Reward Of "A Great Job!"
The only way that would have worked you would have had to hold it down and flooded the whole floor but even that would cause more problems including moisture and damage to the shop walls
I have a painted floor in my workshop that makes it easy to brush off and hose the floor to get rid of the dust. I wet the floor immediately before painting. Mostly good outcomes. Your job here is really smooth with not much sign of peel that I can see in the camera shots.
Exactly what I was thinking too. I wasn't a huge fan when it was in the van but once it was sprayed on and dried on the hood and trunk, I loved it. I had no problem in trusting Jolene's vision.
Root beer? That’s not the shade of brown I think of for root beer. Maybe poop brown, lol. To be nice maybe a melted chocolate brown. And I think the period browns were darker.
You never cease to amaze me. Your talent says it all. Excellent work by both of you. Congratulations! I have attempted to paint two cars in my 74 years. Both were embarrassing, compared to you do. Best wishes and blessings to both of you.
Beautiful car. I love the color. Dust nibs in the paint are part of the fun. It's when the random bug swarm comes to swim in your nice wet paint when things get messy.
G'day Chad & Jo, I reckon it's amazing how deep and wet the paint looks, with NO wet-sanding, cutting, and polishing. Obviously, you did a masterful job laying down the paint so it retains a "high-gloss" or "wet" appearance. The Ford looks absolutely stunning mate. Good onya Chad! Cheers from Western Australia 🇦🇺 .
Paint looks absolutely amazing! Color is very attractive almost a Root Beer Brown color . Can’t wait to see it outdoors in natural lighting. A gold cream colored interior or an Orange like Jolene showed would look very good IMO . The whole team-Chad, Jolene and Doug did a great job on the ole Shoe Box!! Keep up the great work!
Really digging this one Chad! Your modifications look great under than beautifully colored and applied paint job! Looks super straight and smooth too. Olive green/army green interior, old school style. (I hate that term) 2 inch tuck and roll. The door panels and headliner too. Stich it and pipe the edges with a color to match the car color, tan brown. Just my opinion. Keep up the awesome work you guys.
What do you guys think?
Love the color guys
Love the color . Looks great 😍
Outstanding!
You done a Great Job BRAVO !
beautifull!!
Great job 👏 I think a cream colored interior would look really good and classy with the brown paint job !
Agreed. Cream some brown accents would be Boss, imho
So, a cream filled chocolate? That might work really well. Make the car look even more delicious.
Chocolate Pudding !!! 🤠🎉🐭
Yes two thumbs up on a cream interior . Second would be gray ( for me). Black is soo over used.
Dark red interior maybe?
the first brown with cream design will look fantastic I think.

Wow great job! The secret is in the prep work. Thank you for painting this beauty! Glad to see you painting again.
Doug did an ace job on sanding the door perimeter and masking the interior, not a job for anyone who frustrates easily. Getting the car unwrapped is a delicate job which cannot be rushed. Wow. The team did a awesome job and the color is out of this world. Good to see Jolene.
Car is really a nice looking car. ❤❤
It must be so satisfying to the team to see a vision come together as planned. Well done to all the team.
ALL THE TEAM
Happy to see one get thru to paint. Nice job.
I reckon the prep work is very difficult and tedious.
The color is beautiful!!!!
That's the same color as my '74 Triumph TR-6, chocolate brown!
The 50 looks AMAZING!! Fantastic job love the paint!!🤜🤛🫵
Looks absolutely amazing. Nice job to all who had a hand in it!
some type of cream would like good. Great paint job!

Thanks Chad & Jolene for sharing this entire build.

💯✊
Thank you, Doug. What a great job you did.
Amazing prep and paint.
Looks awseome! always loved any cars that you modify or create to your imagination
The tan would look great in the car 👍👍
Creamy beige would be nice for the interior.
agreed~with brown accents,imho
And plain disc rims in the same cream with mini moons
Cream interior with a diamond brown pattern in the centers would look good
Love that idea
Definitely Cream
man i love unmasking a car after its just been painted. Probably my favorite part.
Just like opening a birthday present! Or better yet.
All that prep was worth it. Beautiful.
Wow!! Shout out to Chad! Incredible amount of work! He took a lot of criticism but politely carried on with his own methods. Looks beautiful! Congrats Hiltz crew!

He’s a custom painter, pretty sure he knows that…how’s the paint on your corolla ? 😂😂😂
That definitely was a sticky situation yesterday, great job and thumbs up
Looks fantastic! Looks like Dutch Chocolate ice cream melted smoothly over a car !
Awesome work 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Nice work Chad and Jolene
Looks great!!!! Nice to watch the build from the beginning to end. Thankyou.
Can't wait to see it when it's all done with the wheels and everything looking good on it.
I haven't followed along on this build entirely. I did see a lot of hate and I cant lie, I was a bit thrown off with some of the processes. But the final result is dam good in reality. Super good paint job. Brown is not my favorite color but it is really growing on me with this style car. Can’t wait to see the interior finished
I think cream interior with caramel piping would look pretty nice. The car turned out fantastic! Kudos to Doug for all the sanding he did...and kudos to Jolene for all her filming and taping... and kudos to Chad for his designs and hard work!!! Can't wait to see the finished car!
Looks great 🤘. I think cream with goldISH piping/stitching/buttons, etc would look good for the interior.
Looks totally awesome, love the colour
Yeah absolutely beautiful job mate, love it!
Awesome color, paint job
Can't believe how shinny and deep the paint job looks....... brilliant !!
I look forward to see it outside and looking so SHINY! Cheers

Looks kool, got my snapback now proudly worn over here in uk
The car looks great. Thanks for sharing with us..
That is Amazing!! Well done Guys 👍👍🌹
Let's see what all the expert haters have to say.
😭😭😭💩😭that's all they ever say😂✌️
Right
Those people always start with " I've been doing this for 40+ years" lol
@@chieftain_buildz I once had a man say that to me and my reply back was that because you did something wrong for 40 years doesn’t make it right
A Norwegian band was called Chocolate Overdose.... Love the colour!
Looks amazing. Love the colour. The shin is crazy. Great job Chad and Jolene.
Slick , love the color
That car is beautiful. 😊😊 Ontario fan
Beautiful job!!!! I will say though, when I was watching Chad sweep and mop that concrete floor, I was thinking there is no way he could get all of the dirt and dust off the floor. Tan with almost same brown for the stitching
Beautiful Work!!!!!
Looks surperb Chad, you are a master...🎉 have never seen that chocolate brown colour.
Paint went on real good 👍
JUST FANTASTIC.
Looks awesome 😎👍

Wow that is a great job. Way to go Chad, the reflection is outstanding.
That’s Kool, nice to see a different colour to the usuals picked…….nice job guys…
Tan interior would look classy
My Great Dane did one a similar color!
Did you name it 'Mark' 🤷♂️🤣
I'm about that paint. It looks good with the form of that car.
I Know How Stressed Out You Were Before Painting & At The Start Of Painting......BUT! What I Now Enjoy Is Your Thrill! Happiness! Sense Of Well Deserved Accomplishment! Love It When You Get The Reward Of "A Great Job!"
Stunning result. 👍👌
Sorry to say, I have never thought tarps were a good idea. They can flip up and destroy whatever they touch.
I think the idea was to keep dust down. They tried they didn't like. So I suspect they agree with you.
Canvas paint drop cloths work great.
The only way that would have worked you would have had to hold it down and flooded the whole floor but even that would cause more problems including moisture and damage to the shop walls

Hello Roo
It’s bloody beautiful. I especially love the colour.

The olive drab looks great with the exterior color!
You are Bad Dude brother. It looks beautiful. Great job, my friend. You are an inspiration.
wow looks awesome, very cool color.
Great job.!Well done all the team.
Looks great.. I like the timeframe on this project,a lot of work from start to paint..
Really digging this one Chad! Your modifications look great under than beautifully colored and applied paint job! Looks super straight and smooth too. looks great-I doubt anyone could do that kind of metal work and paint/body with what u have to work with
Jolene's question about speed at 8:40 is great and Chads answer is great as well. This is why we watch.
The paint looks fantastic, the chrome will defiantly make it pop!
Nice color. Jolene has a good eye for color. 👌
Awesome paint job !!
Fantastic job. I really love the color for this car. It is appropriate and beautiful.
