Good video! I recently bought my smallest Bobcat, an MT55. The owners manual is not clear on the location of the roller grease zerks, so I found your helpful post on you tube. I have been using "Universal Transmission Hydraulic Fluid" in the hydraulic systems of my skid steers (Mustang, Ford, New Holland and Bobcat) for about 40+ years. I take oil samples and have it analyzed. The test results come back clean and I have yet to have an oil related failure. I have found that oil samples can predict a failure four years before a failure could occur. On one truck the sample came back bad and I was able to make a $300 repair, and saved about $25,000 on an engine repair in my Mack truck!
Really good advice John! Thank you for the comment. Thank you too for the excellent voicemail message! We will definitely lean on you when we’re in the area. Sounds like you’ve had a great career!
This is a great maintenance guide, I have seen some really badly worn roller shafts and even worn insides of rollers from the MT lineup. Greasing goes a long way with these machines. I have a few vids on worn shaft to my channel. keep up the great posts.
As an owner of an Mt 55 and 85 for many years several things caught my eye. The dust purge on the filter housing must be facing down, the inner filter is recommended to be changed every third time outer filter is changed, not always together. In regards to checking the hydraulic fluid : Page 79 of owners manual states “lower the lift arms and tilt attachment interfaces fully back”. Your video shows arms all the way up and interfaces curled down. I’m sincerely asking, have I been doing it wrong all these years? I love my maintenance, any chance to learn something new or share something is always welcome. Love the video.....grease Zerks!
Thank you! We're very much novices at this... we will take out part about thy hydraulic fluid because you're not the 1st to ask about it. I may have heard completely wrong and/ or remembered completely wrong. Thank you for your advice. If it's in the manual I would trust that... I'm going to have to dedicate some time to learning more about these machines.
@@PondKingWaterGardensMN thanks buddy I went to bobcat and got theirs. I was confused by you saying check fluid while buckets raised and in the air. My book says to check and fill as needed while everything is lowered and bucket tilted back.
@@PondKingWaterGardensMN did yours come with the manual in the round tube inside rear access panel. I believe it was page 79 or 80. But it said to check level and top it off while arms down and bucket tilted back. I am just trying to make sure. I have to read stuff 20 times to understand which is why I resort to RUclips lol. I hope we get it figured out though. I'm not knocking any info. Just double checking to protect our investments.
Great video!
Thanks!

Yes. I am semi retired. 43 years ago I started writing down thing I did and learned. I now have over 300 pages.
@@buelowexcavating we’ll need to take you out for lunch to learn from you!
Sounds good!
You guys make maintenance look easy. Lol.. knowing the ins and outs of all aspects of pond only makes you better. See you on Thursday
Thanks Brad! We couldn't find any videos out there so thought, why not make one?
This is a good starting point for new employees. Thanks!
Yeah we ask our new guys to watch it right away.
Not always a fun job... but someone’s gotta do it 👊🏼👊🏼👊🏼
That's right! And your machine will sure be happy!
@@PondKingWaterGardensMN wish there was one here to look at in action let alone service😅

Grease Zerks is the term you're looking for.
Thank you!
Do you guys use Bobcats hydraulic fluid or have you guys found a cheaper alternative?
We've been using all bobcat brand. We don't go through much very often so the expense doesn't grind my gears too bad.

I swear our guy said everything should be extended to see the true level. He was the one from bobcat stores around here.
