Utterly brilliant!! This really did tie every supernatural occurrence in Season 5 together beautifully. Spoilers below for anyone who hasn't seen yet:
Making 1020 the central villain makes EVERYTHING click. He IS the monster under the shed. He IS the boulder. He IS the cause of literally everything, and it's because of his years-old misery and hatred over what happened to him. He's SUCH an interesting character, and that flashback at the start really reveals that. Even back when he was alive, he was deeply cynical and believed Hawin was out to replace him. I'm sure plenty of engines have died due to the carelessness of another, but not all of them become vengeful ghosts. Dane's tragic death didn't MAKE him evil, it just amplified the inherent sadism that was lurking underneath his self pity. Hawin's so interesting too; he made a HUGE mistake, but it's understandable for a young engine who doesn't fully grasp the consequences of a train wreck yet, and just doesn't want to get in trouble. His guilty energy throughout the whole saga makes a lot of sense now. It's honorable for him to sacrifice himself, even if 1020 was the real villain.
I LOVE Rusty in this! That turntable funhouse scene... WOW!! Using the engines' numbers for the door, and revealing that Rusty is insecure deep down about just being a "groundskeeper"... I can totally see that! Rusty always felt like the mvp of S5 scary stories, I'm SO glad you put such emphasis on them in this, like they're the greatest morsel for this fear-mongering specter to sink his teeth into. Especially because of Rusty's strength and bravery in other stories, they're the toughest nut to crack. It builds them up, but it also makes 1020 even scarier when he figures Rusty OUT.
And THUMPER!! WOW!! That was a standout, I LOVED what you guys did with him! Seeing him violently vibrate out of control, to the point of the foreman shouting "I want that machine shut off, now!" All the terrifying stuff you did with his face too, the melting and the crazy, broken smile... You can just TELL 1020 has taken him over. Brilliant to draw upon the fandom's well accepted view on his design and its lack of effectiveness. Poor Thumper is so insecure, and 1020 exploits that to free the boulder, and terrorize Rusty. VERY impressive that this is almost an hour long, and you guys didn't even recreate Rusty and the Boulder haha. The rest was so good, _RUSTY AND THE BOULDER_ wasn't good enough to earn the airtime haha. I'd love to see someone do a supercut of this where they insert the Season 5 episodes in, RATB and TATF would fit perfectly, albeit tonally and structurally very different.
This was an introspective masterpiece, I could go on forever. The spiral motif is amazing, there's something so simplistic yet scary about the swirly eyes, like I can genuinely imagine them putting stickers on the eyes of the models. It's a strangely fitting aesthetic for the model series, very practical and very chilling. I loved Edward in this, so kind and reasonable and foreboding, he's the only kindness Thumper gets and god bless him. Thomas's few lines are PEAK Thomas and split my sides haha, he's so fed up with the cryptic magical talk I love it. That guy always says it like it is. The shot of Percy being buried, and the utter HORROR of Bailey and Hawin watching... CHILLS!! 1020 looming over Hawin at the end is like a twisted version of a VHS cover, it's amazing... And Boulder not even falling, just slowly rolling deliberately ALONG THE SIDE OF THE MOUNTAIN, with that horrifying rocky effigy of Dane's face... Love love love LOVED this whole thing!!! It is a brilliant example of how a relatively small and simple video, like a retelling of monster under the shed, while good in its own right, can be turned into an utter MASTERPIECE of a saga if you stick with it and build upon it! I congratulate everyone involved, this is something VERY special!

There was something in the air in Season 5 wasn’t there? And it was Dane. The way all of the Season 5 were connected through psychological horror was brilliant.
I love how Dane enters the mind and causes the characters to make mistakes, become paranoid, or act out. Like our own flaws. Our doubts. Our fears. When we don’t own them, they consume us.
The music was expertly utilized and chosen.
The directing and visuals were spot on. Trainz has come a long way, but this is one of those monumental projects that will be remembered for setting the bar higher. Everyone involved deserves a pat on the back.
Honored to have been a part of this journey, and to share a few words at the end. You crushed it (but maybe not as much as Thumper. He took “crushing it” a little too far in my opinion).

    "...You look young."
    "Hmph. You don't."
And so it ends. When I first joined the team during production of Part IV, I wanted to help bring this chilling saga a deservingly chilling end. I cannot thank Griffin enough for offering me the chance to narrate in this project - it taught me a lot about my vocal capabilities, and a lot of the acting you heard in the film ended up NOT being acting! It felt more like I was living the whole story through my voice.
What a ride it was. And I feel all the better for have experienced it. I raise a glass to you Griffin, and to the rest of the team. You brought to the fandom a haunting tear-jerker, that despite being about division between old friends, brought new ones together in sewing the fabric of this project together. That takes a lot, and you certainly had what it took.

@@alias_the_chosen_one1915 If I'm correct, he was already insecure about his design, and because of this, he was easily impressionable by Dane. Dane, himself, was insecure about his design, and with his supernatural abilities, he convinced Thumper to do his bidding. Thumper did it partly with his own will, but mostly from being controlled by Dane. However, Thumper began to realize the sheer horror of his situation. A moment of consciousness was all he could spare before his face melted, along with his tortured mind and body. It isn't shown, but I believe Thumper blew up, sadly. He may have survived such a possession, but given the tone of Edward, Rusty, and Hawin's conversation right after everything happened, I don't believe he'd be alive. Take a look at the tone of the conversation in Tugs after Big Mickey died...

Here's the full timeline as to what I can figure out if anyone is confused. Please correct me if I get anything wrong.
It all starts with Hawin Lake. Hawin and Dane make a promise to look out for each other and help each other, with Hawin faking being ill so Dane could take his place on the passenger run. Later on, Hawin bumps a truck too hard, damaging the points leading to a siding by the lake. He resolves to tell someone about them later. Unfortunately, that has serious consequences as no sooner than that happens, Dane comes in, out of control with a fully loaded passenger train. He hits the damaged points, comes off the line, and plunges into the lake, killing him and his passengers. Old Bailey watches the accident from afar. The rescue operation is deemed too expensive and too risky to pull Dane out of the water, so they just leave him there, which turns Dane into a ghost.
Dane or 1020 [and I will refer to him as 1020 from here on out] becomes vengeful, wanting revenge for those who had wronged him by delving into the minds of the engines, machines, trucks, and even humans until progression on Sodor would be halted. Ever since the accident, the Hawin branch line is in danger of shutting down, but it gets shut down for good after Hawin has his accident at the viaduct, which was 1020's doing. He was rescued by someone and was put in the back of the shed for repairs. The branch line also takes down the kirk Ronan line with it, since the branch line did extend all the way to Kirk Ronan.
Fast forward a bit, until Edward discovers Hawin in the shed when the first Fatt Controller wanted to restore the branch line. He and Old Bailey warn Edward and the workmen that they should leave and tell the Fatt controller to halt his project. Reluctantly, the workmen agree and Edward brings them back, only to find out that James had wrecked on a field. When Edward comes back to the shed alone, Old Bailey and Hawin tell Edward about at least what they know and Hawin lies, or Hawin tells the story alone, lying to them about what really happened. He also brings up the events of his own accident, which Edward tells in the future to Thomas, Percy, Henry, Gordon, and James.
This part of the timeline is going to get crazy, as these events could've happened in any order, except for the last few episodes shown in full in season five. But here's I believe what happened. I'll also only mention the key important parts of season five that can be noteworthy. Oliver's find is first when Oliver goes down the wrong line and crashes into an old shed. I propose that he didn't find Toby's old shed in this version of Sodor, but instead, the shed in Kirk Ronan. 1020 had something to do with that, as to what, I have no idea. Next in the timeline, logically would've been Haunted Henry, 1020 messes with Henry's mind, along with the trucks, causing him to hit an avalanche and the trucks plunge into the ravine, with Henry managing to avoid such a fate. These supplies were to reopen the Hawin Branchline again. After that, the restoration of the old line starts, along with Kirk Ronan. The narrow gauge line also gets extended to a part of the island, where Toby discovered Bertram. That area used to be a quarry but was abandoned due to a large perfectly round boulder.
Continuing with the timeline, the next logical event is The Monsters are due at Hawin Lake, where Stepney agrees to help at the quarry, before being asked to deliver supplies to the lake. He rests there for the night as there is fog about. This is where 1020 messes with him, calling him selfish and Stepney is scared out of his mind. He has to shunt there until James takes over in Invisible Engine. Stepney goes to Rusty to tell him about the strange night. During all of this, at the same time on Stepney's night Duncan gets spooked happens, 1020 [presumably] causes Peter Sam's trucks to run away and crash at the old iron bridge, leading to Duncan eventually encountering 1020 on the bridge. Rusty lets Stepney know about it but Duncan refuses to talk. Later on that night, 1020 messes with James, eventually causing him to crash into the ravine where Henry's trucks had crashed. This causes James to be in the works for quite some time.
Fast forward to the chilling cutting where Rusty encounters 1020 and when 1020 tries to get Rusty to be fearful of him. The little diesel stands strong this time and manages to get out shaken, but not stirred. The events lead him to him talking with James and them both seeing Hawin and Old Bailey. From there, 1020 ramps up his attacks of revenge. Henry crashes on the coastal run, Gordon wrecks through Kirk Ronan station, and Percy nearly gets buried alive. As can be seen in this episode: Railspin Splitspace. Hawin tries to talk with 1020, only to realize this was all a result of his own doing. At the same time, Sir Topham Hatt starts yet another project at boulder quarry and Edward collects Thumper. Rusty sees Boulder's/1020's face on it during the rain. Thumper is also taken over by 1020, and he [presumably] dies due to overheating engine. But his work causes Boulder to get loose, or 1020 controls the boulder and once again goes into Rusty's mind and screws with the little diesel, trying to get him to crack. Rusty manages to put on a brave face, though really, a part of him is now broken forevermore [based on the line: "But on some nights, rusty feels nothing at all."] The rest of the events of Rusty and the Boulder happens. After that, Edward tells Hawin and Old Bailey about the large dam, after learning of 1020 actually being in the water. This takes place after Toby and the flood, where Old Bailey and Harwin part ways. Hawin sacrifices himself, in order to put a stop to 1020's revenge, and it works. Hawin dies, Sir Topham Hatt realizes his mistake, vowing to never again put up projects in the name of progress to Old Bailey. They moved the boulder to a hill and finally everything is at peace once more.
I hope this helps, and please let me know if I got anything wrong and great work on the entire series, you and the others did a great job!

Duncan get's Spooked in this universe happens before James' accident since in Part 3 of the Hawin Saga, Stepney went to talk with Rusty where Duncan was at the sheds too. They mentioned about the events at the old Iron Bridge where Duncan met the "ghost" or 1020 there. And after this, Stepney went back to the old Hawin Lake Branchline only to refuse. And that's where James took over, 1020 messed with him, and that's where James has his accident there.

And long before that, I had the original Monster Under the Shed book as a kid, and what always captivated me the most was that little blue engine. Now his story comes to an end, and I won't lie, it made me heartbroken to see this obscure character from my childhood, whose story I've been following for over 2 years, give his own life to save the other engines of Sodor, most of whom don't even know him and will never know what he did for them. But nevertheless, I think this saga ended in the best way it possibly could have. Well done!

I also feel like we could have gotten something else minor with James and Duncan as well, also Thumpers current physical and mental state. Otherwise fantastic work, was worth the wait.

I get James since he already went though enough in the other parts of this arc stepney I understand aswell to an extent he went back to the bluebell railway anyway if lock at the intro I understand Herny too but I feel duncan thomas and percy could've been a part of the main cast in this part but I also see why griffin didn't include any of them maybe he couldn't fit them in or something tho l think another reason is that there really isn't a main character for this series just passed on to each protagonist in this arc tho out of the engines in the cast I think the main protagonist other than rusty in the in the last two parts is probably Edward if you lock back at the first episode/part.

I'm only halfway through and this is just a MASTERPIECE!! The dramatic tone and sense of dread is just so thrilling! The long drawn out scenes, the dialogue between characters... This is so cinematic! Takes the themes and characters of Season 5 and presents them in a way more serious, more introspective light. My favorite kind of Thomas storytelling, dialogue driven and written like a film, because it is one! The developments between Hawin and Dane... WOW... This just got so much more complex and morally gray, I LOVE it!

After finishing the video, this is a great way to stick the landing. There's always a little bit of a worry when it comes to roping in supernatural elements to T&F horror, it's really easy to completely lose the scope and go overboard for pure shock value. But 1020's methods and motives stayed consistent throughout, and the narrative stayed tight and consistent. Great series!

To say that I didn’t click the video faster in the span of 2 seconds is absolutely crazy
In all seriousness, this has to be my favorite finales of any Thomas fan series I’ve ever seen. There were so much surprises that I never expected like Hawin is revealed that he was the one that made 1020 crash and that 1020’s name is dean, and the whole scene with Dean and Rusty words can’t describe how incredibly fantastic that scene was. I don’t think this project is a 10/10…it’s a 100/10 for me, words cannot describe how amazing this series was (probably said that before but it was sooo good, I hope you and everyone else who made this finale happen are proud of yourselves!! Can’t wait to see what other projects you make in the future!

As somebody who had this Series recommended to me in the last few hours and blasted through it, I have to say that this was such a BEAUTIFULLY written and well crafted story! Truly, this must’ve taken an insanely long time to craft, and I think every single second you and the team around you put into this project, REALLY shows the attention to detail and love for the franchise of T:TTA, all the way down to throwbacks of legit episodes to helping build out a new part of the Island in a way that feels REALLY natural. Plus the newer engines stand out in such a colourful and fun way that you just can’t help but love them. Nothing here feels overplayed or cliché, it all hit the right notes to feel like a GOOD story, and you can ABSOLUTELY bet that I’ll be sharing this with people I know to give it the attention that it absolutely deserves!
Hands down, absolutely AMAZING work! I especially love that you made James a good focal point in Episode 3, keeping that moment as a pivotal scene for Rusty closer to the end of this episode! James has always been my favourite, and you really got his personality down on this! That easily earns points of approval from me!
I’ve been doing writing myself for a half decade now and I have to confess, I wish I had this level of dedication or resource to pull something of this magnitude all together the way you have!
Though I do have something I wish to say!
And please bear in mind that I don’t even really mean this as criticism, since I loved the whole story all the way through!
But that said, as a T:TTA story, part of me was just a teensy bit disappointed in the lack of actual Thomas in this whole tale! Overall he’s there, and he plays a role, and I even completely agree that giving him a MAIN role would be a bit too much considering the focus of your narrative on the newer cast and their story! But man, that childhood flame in me would’ve sparked just a /little/ more seeing Thomas himself get involved in the action somehow! Having an encounter of his own, or something along those lines!
But again, I already know it would’ve made the weight of content a bit too hefty for a story that already feels so clean and perfect as you have it!
The only other thing was, and I don’t quite know how to phrase it, the stillness of the series? The Model series had a really nice moving angle aesthetic to it that you DEFINITELY captured! But not very many times! Like in episode one, with the story Edward told! That escape sequence felt so /natural/, and I hoped there would be more drawn out tension and thrill to chase-like scenes like that! Really show off the Railways and the terror of them fleeing, you know?
Again, I’ve been writing for a while, and /please/ do not take that as me saying what you did and didn’t do! I think you did GREAT, and you very easily did better than I’d be able to pull off, especially in the time frame you have for this whole project! It just felt as though the fluidity of how much the models moved was on the lower side, is all!
Those concerns should mean absolutely nothing, and I /only/ offer them to you in case you do more projects like this in the future!
A SOLID 9.5/10 from me, I think! Great work, all around, and I hope you get a TON of recognition, likes and success from everything you’ve done regarding this series!
Amazing job, once again! Earned a Sub from me!

    SPOILERS:
I literally cannot believe Hawin killed himself, right in front of us. I thought 1020 was gonna save him judging by one of the teasers where he appeared at the start of the waterfall so the shock factor was even bigger. I absolutely love how you somehow worked Thumper into an actual character and how the entire story and maybe even the saga to an extend took place around Rusty and the Boulder. The models, the art and the other visuals are fantastic like the entire series and this might even be the best fan story made so far. My only complaint is that I was struggling with the volume the entire watch, the voices were pretty quiet even though my volume was pretty high but then right after a jumpscare I turned it down again and was struggling to hear the dialogue. Overall 9.9/10

This story revolves around the effects of the division between two friends (Hawin and Dane). But ironically enough, it brought so many people together to help with this project. You all did a superb job at bringing this film to life! This was definitely worth the wait! This whole thing with Hawin Lake could explain why a fair part of Thomas and Friend's supernatural episodes took place in one season. He did delve into the darker aspects of Thomas & Friends, so yes this would be partially what he wanted. He didn't want everything to be dark and gloomy. He originally was gonna have Henry be scrapped when he was shut in the tunnel, and then after his accident. Remember that next time you try to say something is the opposite of what he wanted and thought Thomas and his world to be. Only thing I'd say goes against the Reverend's lore and thoughts would be the modern show "All Engines Go". And perhaps certain illustrations and stories from the tv show, but you should watch the biography on him that's out there for that info.

After watching this I can easily say this is the creepiest Thomas stories to date. 1020 is terrifying and his path of destruction and chaos just for his own satisfaction I'd great. Hawin's departure was sorrowful and a great way to end both his and 1020's story. And my God, from when the workmen put the tarpaulin over Thumper to the scene of Boulder in the destroyed shed is pure chaotic horror. Thumper is such a great character in this too, everything about him was so messed up and unjust, I really hope the poor guys OK - his fate isn't really revealed.

The sound design was superb with fantastic writing to boot, the experience was genuinely immersive. Really puts you on the edge of your seat.
As for the concept of it all, I am in LOVE with it. The idea of all the crazy sh*t happening in Season 5 being all Dane’s doing is such a brilliant way to tie it all together. With every reveal of another Season 5 episode that took place in this time frame I did the Leo DiCaprio point meme every time, it was enrapturing. Dang this was absolutely awesome! It's nice to see the full history of Hawin and 1020 or should I say Dane. But overall this was an interesting series and this has to be one of the best episodes with the most depth. Fantastic work blue, you and your team did a fantastic job making this project come to life and Matt and George did great job narrating this series. A great team effort and well done to everyone.

This is just amazing. The writing, the quality, everything is just perfect. You've managed to turn an obscure magazine story into something really amazing. The fact that everything lined up with season 5 is just... Impressive. I won't give spoilers here, but it does have a sad ending. But at least everyone is in peace now.
Also I need to know what happened to Thumper

I’m usually not scared by ttte horror films but DAMN this is well done! I watched this on a train and a rusted J15 with a face and the running number ‘1020’ is now chasing me. Jokes aside, this is the best series I’ve ever seen in the TTTE franchise and I love the designs and model of the engines. 1020’s ghost, James’ damage after falling down the cliff. It’s all perfect. Extraordinary work. 1020’s face when his eyes go into swirls really creepy me out and his grinning face is terrifying. I have no idea how Hawin and Old Bailey can still be with him after all this time. I also like how you take and alter episodes from the TVS (Haunted Henry, Stepney gets lost, Rusty and the Boulder). And also from the CGI series reference with James’ crash in his black livery.
To The Blue Snowplow if you read this:
Spectacular work. Absolutely smashed it out of the park! I hope to see perhaps another part, sequel or parody to his old line as it really stuck out to me as a kid when watching TTTE. I rate this 1000000000000/10. Keep up the stunning work! 👍🔥👌

Woah. That was frickin amazing. I just find it so clever the intertwining of the season 5 stories! The end scene was so epic and emotional - I can explain how awesome I found this but well done. Also great to have Ee93 come back to voice at the end - cherry on the top!

I’ve said it before on Twitter, but I’m absolutely blown away with the project. A thrilling ride from start to finish. (Although Part III gave me some quality and audio issues, idk if that’s only an issue with me or deliberate). EE93 and 84F Studios absolutely killed it with the narration and Tines nailed the filmmaking and music. Everyone involved deserves a huge round of applause. Well. Done. Any future projects you may have in mind, you have my full support.

This was quite the series. I think the concept of Connecting Duncan gets spooked and Rusty and the bolder is a pretty interesting one. Linking them to an accident that happened years before that no one could possibly have known was an interesting one.

Holy moley the wait was definitely worth it! So what can I say about Railspin SplitSpace? Well for one, the cinematography, the music, the voice acting from George, the audio mixing and the visual effects were absolutely stellar. This also did confirm a few of my theories such as 1020 AKA Dane using the engine's fears to mess with and that Hawin did have something to do with 1020's accidents. The only thing that remains unanswered is where did 1020 gets his hypnosis power (as I'm calling it) from? Most likely he discovered it when he became a ghost. I won't spoil the ending for those who haven't watched this yet but I will say it's one you probably won't see coming, it does have a bittersweet atmosphere to it and includes a line from a certain season 5 episode. Overall Railspin SplitSpace was a great finale to this series. Very well done to everyone who was involved in this. 👍

Wow! What an incredible series and story this was! A truly dark side to the events of season 5 and tying them all together into one bigger story. What a spectacular addition to this fandom and with a much darker tone than normal!! Absolutely worth the wait❤

What an amazing film, I absolutely adore creepy/spooky Thomas videos, this by far is one of the best I’ve seen, very well done. I think my favourite part was Scruffey crashing, the insane look in his eyes, and the violent crash that followed. Great job again! “Cheers and keep up the good work”

From what I understand, if you put Hawin & Dane's names together. It roughly means "River of the devil" in Sudric.
    ..Was this intentional?
Splendid work either way, I had similar concepts years ago about tying the strange occurrences of season 5 together, but I never knew how. So this was oddly therapeutic to watch. Can't wait to see what's in store for your future projects.

call me crazy but considering Dane can possess characters, it wouldn't surprise me if in this universe he possessed Gordon and cause his crash at Kirk Ronan. I also think that if this was canon in universe, the reason Duck, Donald & Douglas and Stepney aren't as prevalent anymore is because of the psychological trauma they endured.
Plus, Peter Sam humming his song blissfully unaware of the situation is such a contrast to the melting Thumper face.

Thank you so much for bringing this series to the community. There will never be any other series like it. Such beautiful craftsmanship, such chilling stories, such a tragic end. But, although the series is at a close, I hope we can see them sometime down the road again. Cheers to an amazing series, and here's to what incredible thing you'll cook up next

This was absolutely incredible!! The chat went crazy when thumper was being controlled by 1020! Plus seeing rusty going through different trials as all of his fears were put into one thing with the turntable in the circus tent and it was sad to see hawin sacrifice himself but I'm sure him and 1020 are in a better place

5:31 pretty funny how a ghost can travel wherever it wants without the ordinary use that gets it around, *nervous laugh*.
