  • This is our first real winter in Florida! We have 75 resident animals that we have to keep warm when it's 30 degrees! Here is how it's been going.

Hey guys, nest boxes are a no no, not only does it encourage them to breed it makes them hormonal, what I would suggest is a swing, budgies love swings, a lot of birds do, I absolutely love your videos, I could watch them all day long, you’re amazing ppl. ❤

Wow, water and power out there is a big accomplishment! Bet that's a relief for you. Can you recycle the soiled sand after it sits in the sun for a while? That was so funny to watch Jumanji chase the turkey! Thanks for the update!

I wouldn't put any nest boxs in the parakeet enclosure because it will encourage them to breed. Also can we get a bird video after you guys get the parakeets. 😁❤❤❤❤

Well thought out cages! Obviously from years with animals...esp. the coauties cage with the separate lockouts. Just be careful about treated lumber and large parrots. I have read the chemicals they use to treat the lumber can be poisonous to birds that chew!

question: are you also getting some Gambian Pouched Rats, they are invasive in Florida and people have had them as pets, they are also known as "Hero Rats" due to them being used in landmine and tuberculosis detection and other "nose" related work.

Is the wood for these enclosures treated or sealed? Hard to tell on my phone. Each enclosure looks fantastic, was just curious if the wood was protected from rain, or if it’s best not to treat the lumber with animals. 🤷🏼‍♂️ Just an observation, if it’s not harmful to the animals, some kind of protection for the lumber may save you $$ in the long run & it’s not too late to treat it. God bless

My sleepy brain somehow read the title as 75 degrees, not animals. I thought "I live a few hours north of ya'll in southern Georgia. It can't be that warm!" Then, I read the title again.😂
It's nice to see the animals. I hope that things continue to go well for you and the rescue in 2024.

Short answer is No nesting boxes if you don’t want them to breed. They might lay eggs on the ground but just remove them

I'm no professional when feeding wild animals but I've had many pets over my years and to help the channel out I'll vouch that when feeding any animal by hand you will have accidents no matter how careful you are. Never fed alligators by hand but birds I've helped watch someones large bird and they're very food motivated and scrapes will happen even when they like you lol

You got me thinking about the composting I did before I became too disabled to garden. It contained the poop of 4 dogs, leaves, grass clippings, all the excess food waste from the kitchen, earthworms, etc. Made some beautiful compost. Some zoos are doing this with just the poop and selling it to gardeners as manure. I know you are buried in projects right now…maybe something to think about in the future. The issue of “germs” from the poop is not an issue because the compost be comes so hot. As an aside there are municipalities here and in other countries who plan to convert human waste into manure…much cheaper than processing of it. It’s also safer for the people doing the work as the “ponds” are very dangerous both health wise and if you fall in.

He was just gonna release 40 budgees into the wild? How kind of him to feed the local wildlife (big sarcasm). People thinking they're 'setting free' domesticated animals and somehow bettering their lives drives me nuts.
My aunt told me a story of learning this lesson the hard way as a child. She went to set her goldfish free, and as soon as she let it go in the lake, a large bass swam over and ate it right in front of her. People need to know. You're not 'setting your pet free.' You're serving it on a platter.

In addition to feeding all the predators in the area, it may cause an environmental disaster…40 is lot of birds! So sad and infuriating at the same time. Poor budgies. They will undoubtedly have a far better captive environment.
