Wandering into the gazebo elevator in Limgrave's forest and entering the underground for the first time. Running from a dragon and somehow ending up in the middle of HELL. Looking down on Nokron from Night's Sacred Ground and realizing *you have to go deeper.* That vague, dreadful wonderment when you hear Sharpie-song for the first time. Literally stumbling upon the face of Death. Seeing your first Mariner, and just kind of vibing with him for a second ("Fuck you, D. They just want to hang out in a submerged parking lot and do sick wheelies! They're just living their best death, man; they never asked for this!"). Moments running the gamut from the small, to the humorous, to the grandiose, all seamlessly and naturally blended into a singular vision of a dying world that feels so alive, you can practically taste the Rot.
Mechanically, it's one of my least-favorite FROM games, but aesthetically, ER is a non-stop hit parade. FROM's art and design staff are like a miracle. They catch lightning in a bottle. Every. Single. Time. I'm not sure they could teach other companies to do what they do if they tried.

I am obsessed with Malenia, she‘s by far my favorite Elden Ring Boss, her lore is so good, the cutscenes, voice acting, the (optional!) fight is unique, challenging and epic, she is just perfect in all regards. I stopped clicking on Polygon articles many many years ago, I hate how they‘re always so matter of fact about anything related to women in games, as if anyone perceives them the way they describe in their dumb articles 😂

Fun fact just to trigger QTV: there are in fact different difficulty settings in Elden ring which scale the numbers of all encounters. It is called New Game Plus. It only gets harder though. You are automatically playing on the easiest mode in the first playthrough.

I just bought Elden Ring last weekend. Found your videos and watched the QTV saga and this is still just so funny.
I’ll admit that Elden Ring was ridiculously difficult at times, but I feel like Fromsoft balanced this by making the tarnished capable of becoming ridiculously powerful in response.

Considering the things QTV is complaining about, I feel like he sabotaged his own gaming experience by playing it at a time when he was *not* in the mood to play it, forced himself to do so anyway, and then blamed the game for it.

Ok Polygon. Except Ranni, Loretta, Rennala, Roderika, Fia, and Nepheli Loux, who are all at the very least not disfigured, and in fact are all quite powerful. Many of them aren't abandoned, Ranni, Rennala and Fia all have dedicated simp squads, Roderika and Nepheli hang out in roundtable.
Nepheli literally helps you fight battles she is the typical good guy. Too cookie cutter good for her own good.

don't forget, the end of nepheli's quest is kenneth haight crowning her queen of stormveil, and she then pledges to raise a true storm to wipe out the sickly wind that's infected the castle.

From Software created Melania, one of the most notorious bosses and considered borderline nonsense because of how devastating and fast she was. A literal powerhouse of a character, tragic in nature, yet admirable in her determination in spite of her awful fate. She carves her name into you through repeated failed attempts, reminding you at the start of each new battle exactly who she is until her name is etched forever in your mind. Beating her is a major accomplishment for most new players.
That is the definition of a powerful woman, and there is absolutely no way you could say that From is “sexist” for making such a character.
It’s because she isn’t a transgender black woman who happens to also be queer and who’s personality is based on some form of “abuse” and their sexuality. This type of nonsense is what these “critics” think of when they think of an “imaginative” character

Malenia is my favorite character from Elden Ring. I love her aesthetic, boss fight, powers, etc. It’s a difficult fight but not impossible.
