    Why is "Vancouver dying" look no further than the world economic forum, whose slogan is "you will own nothing, and be happy"
    Who was part of the world economic forum? Look no further than former Mayor Gregor Robertson. Is the current mayor? Who knows. But there are individuals that work for the city of Vancouver that are responsible for planning for it's future that are also part of the world economic forum.

    Thank you Aaron for highlighting the problems that are escalating in Vancouver and Victoria! The ONLY addicts I know who have had a good success rate are those that were able to get professional help AND a good support system. NONE have ever said THOSE drugs the government supplied were a help in getting me into recovery! In fact the initial 'FREE' CERB money contributed to the death of my dear friend's son along with two others! We need more recovery centers, more support to help people get clean and LESS drugs on our streets. Kudos to Danielle Smith for seeing the light and DOING something about it!

    The complete 4 pillar program is actually excellent in its entirety... when politicians push this plan and then only build one of the four pillars, you know the program has been compromised. The reason for the failure of the program is simply corporate greed... the other three pillars do not generate a profit. The weak link in the plan is where the root corruption of the political system meets the financial control (manipulation) of the corporations. Its at this juncture where democracy, community health, social safety, etc. are sacrificed in order to pocket the signing bonus that initiates an ongoing cash generating political program. You think a problem like this would have society as a whole, up in arms and inundating Parliament with demands for change. Let's address the root addiction and get people medically stable, let's get people into therapy / mental support programs to start the process of addressing their core issues, and for fucks sake, get the police back in all communities so we can all live in a safe and stable environment. We should be investing fully in the complete logical and sensible program to generate environments that will increase economical cash flow beyond expectations. Big Pharma is one of the greediest industries worldwide and we as world citizens have allowed this to happen by not holding our politicians accountable and allowing the political structure to be grossly abused. True "Politics" is not supposed to be about making money, true politics is the management of our tax funds to provide the needs of the "community" (whether it be municipal, provincial, federal). Get involved in your local ridings... if we send ethically minded people up the chain, we'll have fewer grifters representing us at higher levels of government. Starting at the base of the structure is the only way to start weeding out the corruption. It will take great vigilance, but the outcome would be so uplifting for one and all.

    Aaron Gunn is typical of the kind of politics we all are forced to put up with lately. With a title like "Vancouver is Dying", we know he simply has a popularity agenda, pushing a horror story for clicks and attention. There are so many more ways to get information about these issues than from a guy furthering his career with shock journalism, and now politics. It would be great to get real facts and in-depth coverage, decent journalism. His video wasnt journalism, it was made in the style of a horror movie...

  • @phoenixman8569
    @phoenixman8569 Год назад +1

    there is a lot of one party blaming the other for the failing programs, but at the end of the day, its all about choice, the programs our government creates, also assumes that most of those clients are capable of rational decision making, and genuinely want sobriety, housing and jobs, but they do not take into account how incredibly toxic the drugs are. Until now All the programs created for street people are voluntary and a few do cooperate but unfortunately most others don't and they will find a way to abuse the services, like the new safe supply program, most addict's will trade away their free medication to street dealers for fentanyl, So indeed we need more recovery centers but similar to the ones in the private sector, no more of dirty S.R.Os handing out needles and more that help no one...

    Rental health issues. That’s only a small fraction of the number of units created through the government’s supportive housing fund. The vast majority of people who could benefit from complex care housing, with access to addiction and mental health supports, will not get in.
    Julian Sommers, the researcher interviewed several times in the film, is often cited incorrectly by people who don’t want to have addicted people or people with acute mental illness living in their neighborhoods. Sommers is a brilliant man - I’ve met him. His research states that people are able to be their most well selves when they’re meaningfully integrated into community, with genuine access to the supports they need to live. And I agree with that wholeheartedly - people need to be in safe, comfortable homes, with accessible health care, accessible recreation, welcoming places to meet and spend time with friends, and meaningful ways to contribute to society and have a sense of accomplishment.
    There are several things happening concurrently that I think are making the situation complex. Yes, ideologues and out-of-touch academics started pushing a kind of libertarian approach to drugs; at the exact same time, though, we saw access to housing, health care, social services, childcare, and all forms of education become more and more out of reach for everyone except the very most privileged, and we can’t stop talking about that part of the equation. If this documentarian had spoken to anyone who provides a social service like housing or childcare (not just policing), they’d find that what has changed the most is the sheer demand for support as quality of life degrades for 99% of residents here."

Step 2 release them without charges. The day of release explain the destruction of addiction and recovery options. The pain of withdrawal motivates addicts to think about alternatives. You would see reductions within months.
