The daughter drives a fancy sports car. Part of the context is showing that the family is doing more spending than earning. Whereas later you see Eleneor showing "old money" through generations. Contrast that Awkwafina is driving a Audi R8 whereas Astrid is being driven in a Rolls Royce. You might say, well Astrid is buying sooooo much..what about that? Her character is a famous model and philanthropist in the movie, which means wearing certain things is connecting her with sponsors. @5:32 two Indian guards greet the car. There are many Indians in SG and HK due to the British Empire inviting themselves to conquer parts of India and then "relocate" people to other territories of the crown. There are even Indian temples in SG. There is a full bar and also an actual shower. Your "seat" is a lounge-type area to get work done, then you go across "the aisle" to your beds. Proper luxury. I hate having to hide my existence from his family and I hope one day they will look at me as a person not just an emotional white woman.
How is it going? Are you still together?
15:40 - either he bought a ticket, or he bought the airline XD
5:32 This though-
I remember being invited to a friend's house and carpooled with another friend. At first, we thought that we got lost because it was so dark and there weren't a lot of houses. Turns out, her house was an entire mansion right at the end.
Glad I found your channel, I love this reaction!!! It the many facets of us Asians, it’s crazy yet relatable how this is many of the things we go through. I understand both sides, and enjoyed Rachel’s conclusion that ended with the majong scene. It’s so sad, yet pretty accurate to how many of us feel.
I've watched this movie *three* times and the dead fish scene always gets me. Jesus Christ it's so scary.
you want an accent...lol, you got one. An American accent
you're so right... *different accent LOL
The American accent is the lack of an actual accent
@@alexac4293 Pr ...do you mean the accent of Americans that does not sound like other regions of America, like Texas, the south, etc...Chicago, NYC? Sort of a tv anchor accent...
@@alexac4293 .....no??? do u know what an accent is lmao
@@alexac4293 go to England and you'll see
I love this movie! The first time I watched it, I posted on Facebook that I was only 10 mins in and I was still grinning from ear to ear. It made me feel good!
Also I've had the pleasure of meeting Kina Grannis on 3 different occasions. Such a wonderful artist and a genuinely decent person. Great reaction video! :)
Two years is a long time but better late than never. :) Only recently found your channel and been immensely enjoying all your content. Working through your videos. So many things to relate to in this movie but not all are good things.
bro, her side comments makes it more better! the, "ooooh", "dammmnn" *MASTERPIECE*!!
Your really get the gulf in cultural differences between Asians in Asia and the ones raised outside in this reaction vid
The flower blooming is like a sign of virility and good fortune right?
It just popped out in my Facebook feed and I just finished watching it. I laughed and cried and enjoyed. What a great movie! ♥️
I haven't seen one person go through the wedding scene without getting emotional xd I fully started crying
I'm a new subscriber and I'm binging all of Ange's old vids. I just wanna say that your hair looked so gorgeous here.
I think the bride stepping into the water was not just a puddle! Everyone was sitting in the indoor "rice paddies". A nod to China's agricultural roots!
+ Finally a movie where asians don't use kung fu or math.
- Michelle Yeoh not playing a warrior empress and not doing kung fu
Yes! I'm so happy I found an Asian reactor that I vibe to! *time to binge your videos*
The term is actually “banana” in Asia particularly in Southeast Asia in Singapore and Malaysia (maybe much better representation of the culture). Probably because we don’t actually eat Twinkies 😂.
I still need to watch this. Not Asian myself but I grew up in China and my father's still over there and my stepmother's Chinese. Both gave glowing reviews so I really need to.
SIS JUST A SIDE NOTE BUT YOU ARE GORGEOUS !!!!!!
Does this woman on my screen speak facts facts and nothing by facts while being a whole ass mood, yes I will be subscribing
Representation east asians received: "Crazy rich asians", representation central asians received: "Borat"
Omg 😂😂😂😂
Just watched this movie. Hate how much I cried ha ha ha but loved the movie and loved your commentary
ur commentary is so funny i loved your "not a vibe" lmao
haha thank you!! 💕💕
6:56/It's the type of flower....it only opens up once a year!! Many people wait All year long for this flower to bloom!! People make party's a year in advance!! 😮
OMG I just got an orchid cactus 6:53 like this!! the blooms are a big deal bc they’re only open once for a few hours starting in the evening and then wilt away
My husband and I LOOOVE this movie. We watch it every time it comes on TV 😆
Thanks for doing your part, fellow Asian earthling. You know it's required viewing for all Asians, right? LOL. Great funny reaction. You had me grinning the whole time. And of course, you end the video with one foot on top of your chair. So Asian.
I only just realised that the ring he proposed with on the plane was his mother's ring showing that she gave her blessing, how did I miss that the first time 😭
Bcs they crazy rich so even their specific flower blooming they will make an event for the flower like a married event
Banana is actually the correct term, its the term we use here in Asia. Nobody knows what a Twinkie is here lol
Im glad they changed it from the book, the book is more mean, the movie is more goofy and fun. Its not roses and bunnies in the book
RUclips suggestion. So glad I watched. As a non-Asain I think the themes in the movie are relatable across a variety of cultures.
I loved your reaction.... Me and my girl are native American and related to this movie
You missed the chance to say rich asians after every time you said crazy smh haha
LOL
IM SORRY YOUR REACTIONS ARE PERFECT!! YA DESERVE A SUBSCRIBE!
The wedding scene gets me every time. That first step into the water...🥺🥰😢
I like that they casted the gay guy (with glasses) from "Superstore" and Sonoya Mizuno from "Devs" (Hulu), "Maniac" (Netflix) and Gemma Chan from "Humans" show.
Brenda Song wasn’t in the film because the producers thought she wasn’t Asian enough.
You are so funny!
"They gotta put Asians on Bachelor"
Wongfu: Are we a joke to you? XD
I WATCHED THAT OMG wow throwback classic parody
I cried too at the part you cried. It was really emotionally touching.
ahww this video put me in a good mood, love your vibe!!! Love from England
I love the title of your video. Can totally relate. Great reaction as always, you are just too funny Angelina.
as asian
i proud this movie actually getting fame as it deserve
The wedding water and the fireflies was to honor the fields that they originally come from and started from :) I fkn CRIED my eyes out in that scene
I don’t know you or this channel but the title got me intrigued and you deserve a like and a sub just for that😂
The Crash Landing With You reference made me a fan for life ;)
"good character growth, I feel like no other character had growth besides astrid" Yea that's pretty much the books too, although Nick has a couple of decent relatives in the books other than Astrid..
Omg you missed the ending credit scenee with Harry shim jr. !!!
Okay can we talk about her skin??? Like wowwwwwwww
I really enjoy watching your movie commentaries! You're funny :D :*
D flower called Wijayakusuma flower in Indonesia
It was rare flower that u cn find it in mountain only
But now many people plant it at their house
The fragrant Tan Hua flower blooms once a year in the dark of night and then dies at sunrise. I would clap too.
This is my absolute fav movie
10:30 - Earlier Awkwafina was talking about chickens and she's like "You're gonna go there and be all like 'Buk-buk, bitch!!"
The story is pretty touching but what sold me is the eye candy. Beautiful Asian men and women in a "comfortable"
surrounding with no real worries about money or success. And how did Singapore Airlines NOT get product placement?!
Praise to Michelle Yeoh for her acting.👍
An excerpt from a traditional English folk song (courtesy of Maddy Prior & Steeleye Span): "The Brown Girl"
🎶 I'm as brown as brown can be
My eyes are black as sloe
I'm as [brown]* as a night-time nightingale *actually [brick], an archaic word
As wild as a forest doe
My love was high and proud
A fortune by his side
But a fairer maiden than ever I'll be
He took to be his bride
He sent me a letter of love
He sent it from the town
He wrote to tell me that his love was gone
Because I was so brown
I sent back his letter of love
In anger I wrote down
Your love is wasted on such as me
Because I am so brown
I'll dance upon your grave for twelve months and a day
I'll do as much to you as any maiden may
I'll make you rue the very day that you were born
I'm a bonny brow girl
I heard not another word more
Until six months passed by
A doctor said he had a broken heart
Without me he would die
I walked to his bedside
I walked and never ran
I laughed so loud, then louder still
All at this love-sick man
I'll dance upon your grave for twelve months and a day
I'll do as much to you as any maiden may
I'll make you rue the very day that you were born
I'm a bonny brown girl 🎶
This bubbled to the surface of my alleged mind. The moral of this story, don't fu..., ehr, mess with girls you may deem as your social inferiors. Pride goeth before a fall, to coin a phrase. -- ✌👤
9:47 No, it's actually Banana. In Singapore and Malaysia or South East Asia, we call it Banana.
Same reaction to seeing Kina Grannis actually in the movie. Except I broke into tears from verse 1
This is my favorite romcom. So good.
Essentially a fish-out-of-water romcom. If it was at Christmas and there were a gazebo it would be the best produced, well-acted Hallmark movie ever.
TOTALLY NAILED IT. still got no idea how you got only 570 subs.
hahah thank you!! It's a slow climb ~ super thankful for your support!
“I can tolerate my milk.” 😂
Yoink I will be using that from now on thank you
This video has lived in my recommended for the last month.
May daughter is addicted to this film. I cannot tell you how many times she has watched it. She says it speaks to her Chinese side. hahaha
I don't even remember a single thing about this movie, my parents rented it thinking it was a comedy and about a half hour to an hour in we were so confused and disappointed that it wasn't a comedy at all in any shape or form. So, we didn't get a chance to appreciate the movie for what it was. Honestly can't remember if it was any good or complete shit lmao.
you are not stupid you are a beautiful woman yes you are stop saying you are stupid because you aren't you are a wonderful young woman
Instant sub just for the title alone 😭😭😭
Wait! you missed the mid credits where Astrid meets the new man! Also Astrid's my absolute favorite.
Gemma Chan is a goddess 💝
16-08-2020 ( first time to watch this movie... i have to say - it was one of the best movie ive seen i terms of romance.... good story as well... and the person plays Rachel ( shes sooo cute)
