I tell you what! I will always keep the broccoli leaves from this point forward! They were excellent!!!!
I harvested and used my broccoli leaves for the first time last season and yummmo! I can't believe I never tried them before! I use ham hocks if I have them or even bacon or pork jowl will work nicely too. So good and nutritious! I didn't have any luck with my broccoli this year unfortunately. Will try again next Spring and fall. In Louisville, Ky, zone 6b here.
Nice! They are delicious!
Can I tell you something, my Big Mom (grand maw, from GA.) would make the best broccoli leaves I have ever tasted! Big Mom would use Ham-hock and was just like collard greens! Good to see the tradition lives sir!!! Mrs Lacey is one good cook!
Thanks so much. Big shout out to Big Mom for not wasting a thing!!! Thanks for sharing!!!

It was awesome!
It was awesome!
And I been cutting down my broccoli and composting it.
You can eat the broccoli leaves.
When can i start using the leaves? I assume they are there to protect the brocolli so do I harvest them after I've eaten the brocolli head first?
Also, regarding the sink washing - the sink has SO much bad bacteria, almost like a toilet. its better to wash in a bowl?
Sanitize sink first. We use leaves after we do our final harvest of broccoli 🥦
I agree so much, the sink isn't a good place to wash anything, I will never do that, I clean the sink with bleach everyday and I wash my food in a bowl.
I am making my broccoli leave now with onios, garlic and then eggs.
Can u freeze them?
I'm pretty sure you can! Just like collards.
That looks amazing. Is the cook time about the same as collards. Ty
It is. You can prepare them the same exact way.
