I’m not in Florida but enjoy your videos. It’s important that folks understand that sometimes you just don’t get on them. For me, those days push me to get back out there and chase them even more. Im addicted to the thump.
Brent I am a jig fisherman myself. I don't like lockloose for jigging. I love Dead Lake and Cresent. Thank you for all the good content you do have. I love watching you and your dad fish together. I'm 71 and my youngest son and I fished together all the time. I fish mostly by myself know that he passed away 5 yrs, ago. I'm in Jacksonville Fl. and do a lot of it. God Bless my friend.
I appreciate you watching! So sorry to hear about your son. That's awful. Hold on to those memories of fishing with him! If you don't mind my asking, why you don't like jigging Lochloosa? I didn't want to give up on it just yet, but I may head there later in the season.
I think you were a bit early for the good shallow water bite on Orange and Lochloosa. From my experiences, open water drifting/trolling seem to account for the bulk of the fish from fall-late winter. They seem to move into nearshore cover in good numbers in late January-March (and even into April) on those lakes. When they do finally move in, both live bait and jigs can do well (either dipping in and amongst pads and cover, or casting and retrieving on edges and between patches of cover). Orange is particularly dynamic in that vegetation (types and amounts) can change more rapidly. There are places I did really well several years ago that I can't effectively fish now do to changes in plants.
Thanks for the info! Sounds like the general consensus is I need to hit them later in the season, which I’m definitely going to do. A lot of that stuff looked really good to not revisit. This gives me hope for round two 🤣
Those are a couple fun shallow lakes to Fish lol just don't let that floating Pad Get you stuck and locked in lol it almost got me one time.. I fish Lochloosa and Crescent Dead Lake Every year.. Keep Rockin lines tight👊😎
Orange and lochloosa are one of my favorite crappie lakes. Best way to fish it is drifting with minnows.. I had a similar experience as you the first time I fished it until an old guy told me
Check out Gators videos on those lakes; plenty of fish in those pads but just not yet. They are stuck to the bottom in the mud right now mating. Caught a bunch last week trolling near the bottom all females had eggs and livescope showed them tight to bottom.
What time of year do they usually move up into the pads In lochloosa, I’m guessing around mid February? I’ve been catching a lot in deeper holes in the St. John’s river recently, but I’ve been wanting to try lochloosa.
@@cyrobbins2684 mid Feb is a good assumption maybe earlier this year after this cold snap passes. I fish St Johns from Woodruff to George and I live on George
Love fishing those lakes!! Had great times there. Usually, open water minnows, and when they are in the pads, which I feel is around the spawn we usually do minnows and grass shrimp. Newton's lake is another good spot and there's a facebook page that people usually post and let you know how the bites going on all theses lakes. Orange and Lochloosa is supposed to be good duck lakes. Never duck hunted but talking to a few people say it is.
Thanks for the intel! I'm intrigued to get back into those pads on Orange Lake a bit later in the season to see how the bite has progressed. I don't mind minnow fishing, but man I thought for sure they were gonna be hittin them jigs better than they did! I duck hunted Orange probably 20 years ago, but remember nothing about it, but we did shoot a few ducks.
Gotta have minnows and grass shrimp on that lake, live bait all day..they troll a lot there also..come to newnans lake in Gainesville fl..better for jigging
I've heard about it, but never fished it! I'd love to hear how you make out down there. Definitely sounds like a cool fishery with all the cattails and bulrush. Tight lines!

Exactly! It sucks to get skunked, but you gotta look at every trip out, good or bad, as a learning experience 🎣

I never thought I’d click on a video of someone getting skunked, but here I am. 😂 NE Florida has been good to me lately. Good luck out there!
Haha! I appreciate you watching! Tight lines 🎣
I'm in Mississippi and I love jigging for them CRAPPIE. Just subscribed to your channel 💙

62-72 degrees is my best times on those lakes up shallow. Under 62 gets the trolling gear out

Another great video thanks for sharing your struggles and don't load the cooler every time. What line are you using to jig with?
Using Trilene XT 6lb mono in Low Vis
@@brentallenoutdoorsfl thank you very much.

That's interesting! And that would definitely make sense, then!

Next time I hit it, I’ll come with minnows in tow! Newnan’s is definitely on my list for this season!
@@brentallenoutdoorsflcool,hope to see that video
Is that a B&M real you're using? If so, how'd you get the crank on the right side?
Yessir, it's a B'n'M BAN01 reel. I just orient the reel so the drag wheel is on the left side, since I use that 95% of the time over the crank itself.
Have you ever fished walk-in-water? It’s where I’m heading next to do some speck fishing!

The chemtrails out there that day is sickening
Boring. 20 minute video of not catching
Hence the title: SKUNKED.
