This is too good to be Lofi, we need to call it Hifi
Haha true. Maybe this is that. Found this song I don’t know what genre this is lol. Have a listen and tell me ruclips.net/video/x9ovyXphQWI/видео.html
Wowzers! It uses midi so that's mid-fi.
@@Alkatross lol, that's pretty funny ngl.
Like any other lofi nowadays, it's no more lofi
Honnestly its incredible how much I've learn with your videos man, you make me want to add more layers and complexity to my beats, but im still learning how to do it without overloading it (just like uncle Joe's overloaded credit card debt)
What a great way to help people find the key the song is in.
You do have to be careful, though. If the song has any modal interchange (stepping outside of the scale for a couple spicy notes), this method will produce incorrect results.
This is a lowkey full flex on all lofi producers. I learned a lot. Thank you!
After 5 minutes I learned so much ... my brain exploded. had to pick up a compressor to glue back together and then you show the color effect. and then spitfire. and then wowzers. Thank you man. this was so helpful (far beyond LoFy production.)
I've been saying for years that these "lofi hiphop artists" are just making loops that never go anywhere. You have such an entertaining way of teaching, I really enjoy your characters!
It’s super true and people love it so idk how to even make it matter
on my momma people who say "I've been saying x for years" are the worst to hang out with. and I don't even like lofi lmao
@@JordanRobey that's a great way to judge someone, you must have a lot of really cool friends.
@@jarkenmer I mean they're alright. isn't ur first comment is a judgement on artists lol? it's all good brother, my b
@@JordanRobey I'm not concerned, I'm talking about judging the quality of art, you're talking about judging the quality of a person based off of one sentence
this is exactly what i’ve been looking for to be explained for a while, thanks so much. not many videos on this exact method
Yes spitfire labs is great, also the cinematic pads pack is well worth the money
I've enjoyed your videos for a long time, but finally seeing you expose your inner jazz musician with those juicy chords, and I'm a fan for life. Love it!
Thanks..just discovered your channel today and been binge watching your video ever since. Hope you continue to upload new content, as you have a unique style of passing on your knowledge. You're really talented and all I can say is WOWSERS!!! 😁👍
Your videos are still so entertaining to watch. Thanks for posting.
next level, those guitar techniques are so gold 🔥 amazing track gents 🖤
i love how ur not only a phenomenal teacher but also have amazing music. appreciate u so much
Awesome lesson... Nice and clearly, thankyou
I learned so much! Thank you!!!
This is so funny and also educational. Thanks a lot and wishing you all the success
this guy is a legend
thank you! been itching for you to release some new content
Your production is so phat… man such a huge sound, yet still super chill‼️Thanks for the tips… man, I gotta up my producer game.
Loveandpeace.
Love how you explain things and make a joke out of the whole process! Definitely going to be using your tips for making beats for my videos in future
You are the king man. Can't get over how helpful and how fucking hilarious you are. Thanks so much for your efforts!
Great video! Learned so much, thank you!!🎃
Impeccable, as usual! ✊🏼
I have been talkimg about this subject for months...thanx for the confirmation...first playlist coming very soon
You're friggen hilarious and a great producer. I'm subbed, thanks for the laughs and great knowledge!
Finally you back, love you
Amazing! Thanks for this video, I'm a newbie and it's hard to get your head around how much you can do with all this software, also the LoFi does put you to sleep, it is a parallel universe of relaxation. xD
You always offer gold techniques and tricks. One of the main reasons I always come back! Non surface level music stuff :)
Wowzers. So dope.
Wowsers!
Edit: OK, this is really enlightening, thanks a bunch for that!
Yoooo love u guyssss
Thank you sir!
dude the way you do your tutorials make me laugh. Never change !
damn! your humour is gettin' way better! xD
as always grreat video!
Oh WOWZERS!!!
incredible collab guys!
THis is exactly what I need! I have a really hard time making SONGS for I can't seem to get the energy movement right, so seeing you arrange is a blessing. thank you underbelly! Let's hope Derek doesn't keep being such a disappointment to your family 🙏
The very best tip that’s been working for me is finishing songs no matter how unhappy you are with the sound. Get the structure right. You’ll be amazed how even the worst samples and sounds structured into a song can still be SOMETHING. But a super cool 4 bar loop is only cool until the brain sucks all the stimulation it can from hearing it
Yeah man I know what you mean. Just need to stick to it no matter what and do it piece/part by part and give each part your attention. Example this song I found from this other artist seems to pay attention to parts of songs. ruclips.net/video/x9ovyXphQWI/видео.html
@@Bittamin great tip, man🤝
Also highly recommend wathcing the video 'Are You Taking Your Art TOO SERIOUSLY?' I know I have been recently, its sometimes nice to let loose and just make whatever you are feeling like for a bit then get back to it! Best of luck my friend!
Thank you for removing the pain of finding drum samples to fit the track. Bless
Also, regards to Derrick.
bruh you teach me so much
Yo huge effort on this video it was great
Seriously! I agree, packed back to back with dense information. Killer video.
He’s back!!
wowzers
WOWZERS!
Fantastic tutorial, so many great tips! And it helps that it's actually a really good track. Would love to hear more guitar tips from @prodarbour, especially on the high guitar sounds - how that could be replicated on another reverb plugin.
Strong with the force you are
Your sense of humour is amazing 🤣
that fire lydian chord progression is the hidden gem of this tutorial for me
The title really undersells this, this is pretty much the whole Manual.
Great production tips as always, and learned from the guitar tips as well. That dry signal panned with a reverbed signal panned opposite is hella effective.
Favourite tip picture got me :)
Wowzers! Little disappointed Arbour didn't share any of his Uncle stories though :(
Wowzers
yuuuuu the best
Thanks
As an actual Lofi artist, this was an amazing video 😊❤
even his manuscript has prosody "In this case I'm starting with the Sweet Booty bass..."
10/10 youtuber zero flaws
Gonna try this tips with tons of my unfinished loops😂 thanks guys👍🔥
Cor blimey some great tips
Only just found this guy. 3 minutes into the video and I'm a fan. Dude is hilarious.
Great Video as always! Do you have any Tips on becoming fluent with the chords and keys on the piano. Because i know all about the circle of fifths and chords in theory but i have trouble using it in practise
I've been using FL Studio for over 10 years and I've been trying to get more into Ableton. Your videos are super helpful for that, thank you!
I actually came here to comment exactly this except I’m closer up 20 years in FL. I was also wondering if anyone had any general advice for making the switch
@@djaldd420 I'm still working on the transition myself. I'm trying to get the fundamentals down and go from there. Just keep watching Underbelly and Andrew Huang 😆
@@djaldd420 I was using FL since it started. Ableton workflow is much much better. There are lots of vids on RUclips and I think ableton gives you 30 days full working trial. You can still use fruity as a VST plug in I believe.
It's actually very easy and straightforward.. there's a ton of ways to go about anything in it.. u just have to spend time with it.. also there's this thing in live called “audio effect rack” which is gonna be your best friend
Ableton Tips and Production Music Live have great videos on Ableton
WOWZERS!
love layering drums, makes everything so chunky and full.. then you mess with the EQ a bit, move it around the wave, make some room for some fat Leads.. mMMMmmmm
Yeah I reckon if you got a good drum serum then the foundation is set.
Wobbly from the whiskey 🎶
Great track, nice. Did you use that spicy diminished chord in the end ? I was answering the door to a hoover salesman when you did the piano sequence. Anyway I can imagine a cat occasionally swishing it's tail, while it is almost asleep, on a Persian rug and in front of a virtual coal fire when I listen to the song. Good work.
😅😅this is gold
new tutorial, ok ill check it
All your tutorials about turning beats or loops into full songs made me a cent less terrible producer. Thanks man. I wonder what would you do if you'll try to make "turn a shoegaze riff into a full song"
Prance's appearance fucking got me good
Wowsers
Bro making it so simple and smoothy
me : reading all reddit plateform cause my monitors hiss
I honestly felt like my beats were getting pretty stale so I ended up using most of these techniques on my upcoming tape. The only thing I'm really missing is the layered drums so now I have something new to play with for the next few weeks
finally, lofi christan music
This makes me think about producers don't get the equal credit as the rappers when they should get the equal credit.
your videos are hilariously good you dingus
I laughed and I learned. Nice
11:24 Almost spit my tea over my computer 😂
11:25 professor Prance 😱
im not going to watch this but just stopping in to say your fucking thumb nail game is going up a lot. it had me cracking tf up, take my like
I feel attacked on the B section being scary comment. Though you’re right. You gave me a different perspective on it so I ain’t mad. We need a video on how to make chords more “spicy” cause that’s where you lost me. But I need that..
dang so good haha
Love the B section, reminds me of SWV lol
nice.
This man is the bob ross of producing lofi beats
What did we do to deserve this gold
❤
Could you do a video on common uses and energy levels of percussion? I only understand hi hats
I feel dumb having spent literal decades in FL Studio trying and failing to create realistic acoustic drums and vintage analog sound. This just inspired me to switch to Ableton
I’m converted and the drums I can get in Ableton Packs are excellent. I highly recommend switching
you can just download vsts or realistic sample packs, daw is just a daw
If you can't draw with a five cent pencil then you're not going to be able to draw with a $500 Wacom tablet either.
how to make chillsynth instead of lofi
I have no idea where you got that photo from @6:10, but I'm honored to be in a You Suck at Producing video, been watching your videos for a couple years now lmao
I noticed you might have just googled "LoFi Producer" which makes this even more hilarious to me
11:24 got my ass dying
thanks for the quality time.
the goat underbelly came back yall
I do , i do suck at producing!
finally somebody noticed that lofi sound changed over the years 😂 wowzers
those breaths in between lmao
Ya dingus! 😂😂
whats the program that shows the chords you're playing on the piano
1:10 Ah! Got me from the first tip, start with instruments!!!
2:05 Got me again! I downloaded Color ages ago but this really shows how to use it!
9:00 This one is ultimate - writing a B section! Thanks for making this video, it is absolutely useful for my lo-fi improv gig that I'm playing on Wednesday
Also thank you for sharing your chord progression and how you built it
