The spring fabric would look cute as a 1960’ play suit with detachable full skirt
I love the blue and yellow plaid it’s perfect for late summer it reminds me of a field of sunflowers against a deep blue sky
Ooooh, yes! That sounds perfectly lovely
Ohhhhh. Cheap business cards are available on line. The photo of the extant gown on the front. The citation and your info on the back. Tucked in your tiny bag to be given to anyone who shows interest. It would be like calling cards. I believe that people would love it! Good for Costume College, too. :) (I think I would benefit from therapy, but I watch you on RUclips instead! :) )
And could be done in black and white 19th century visiting card style. When people would give away photos of themself as a card.
You mean like for each costume? I do have business cards that have a rainbow of my costumes on the back, which I typically have with me at costume events.
Possible ideas for changing up your ren faire uniform
1. Your 18th century shepherdess could probably be styled in a very ren faire way
2. As a historicalish cosplay option inspired by A Knights Tale
I would absolutely LOVE to see you make a regency court dress. They are definitely one of my favorite dresses in history and I am so excited that you might make one! They deserve more love! I can't wait to see you make it!
Yesss I’ve wanted to see one actually made for so long I’d do it if I had the skill set lol
Ohhh!! I can't wait to see the blue Christmas coat scaled up!! That colour is GORGEOUS!
I recently became obsessed with the original Mary Poppins movie outfits, particularly the orange "Rooftop" suit, so I'm making sketches for that as my next BIG project . Can't wait to see your progress on all the pretties!
OMG! I had to rewind and see the sheet set. They are from sometime in the 1970s.We had the exact same sheets for myself and 2 sisters who shared a room. They also went to college with us. I think the a couple of pillowcases still in my parents' linen closet.
Regency Court Dress! I am so excited to watch you make that because it's such a wild, crazy style that doesn't get done that often. Yes!
do the regency english court gowns!!! they're awesome!!
I'm in the process of making a dress form. I also have a list of about a dozen projects - including a skirt, dress, & nightgown for myself; a dress and two skorts for my daughter; a tabard for my brother, a dress for my niece, a shirt for my cousin, and a cart cover & teddy bear for my other cousin's incoming baby. ... I just exhausted myself listing all that. 🤣
I’m particularly excited about you making a regency court gown - please do! Your video from 3 years back on it was so well researched and performed and it would be so good to see something that isn’t all over costube. And to learn things about the construction. And although they looked unusual to the modern eye the fashion plates proved they didn’t have to look ugly. I’m sure with your talent you could make it look good!
The sheets look more 1980's but I love that they could work for a 1960's dress. With so much fabric you could have a circle skirt with a frill on the bottom and frilly sleeves.
English Regency court gown, oh heck yea!🎉
I had those sheets on my bed! I think in the 70s.
Costume College is the same weekend as SLO so I won't be going, but I am making a new kirtle and shift for SLO.
Funnily enough The Hubs has gotten into me making him casual button ups with contrasting fabric . We picked up a khaki green and fishing lures with a golden yellow polka dot fabric as contrast last night. I purchased end of bolt. We will have matching shirts😂 We are so not that couple but its happening anyway…cuz it’s funny. 🌈🌈🦋🦋
So happy that you continue with your "plans in the making" video! They all look challenging! The one I am most looking forward to is your 1950's summer dress. Go figure! The material you chose does indeed fit that time. One question: Would it be possible to show the gowns you have made in the past when mentioned in your sharings? I would enjoy being reminded of all of your creations! Thank you! 😊
that plaid with the coordinating fabric from your staff look all amazing together. I think it would feel rewarding to make as so much would come from your stash. Looking forward to your American girl sewing and your Pelerine project. Thanks so much for all you do. Saturday's bonus video was a real treat and today's was yummy was always.
I am making fairy costumes for my great niece and nephew so that they can be the pixie and brownie in the stories I have written.
Oh, the 1830s pelisse!!! I cannot wait to see that!!!
I'm making two Regency/Star Trek mash-up gowns in the next month, including my first pair of short stays!
I'm so excited for the Regency Court Dress!!!
Looking forward to seeing this year's sewing projects.
I enjoy watching you make whatever suits your fancy. I can't wait to see each new item you make it in the case if the red dress, remake it into a slightly different version of itself. All I can say is good luck and good wishes for your success.
Yay! Bustle dresses!
Oh so many beautiful and wonderful ideas. As for me, my head so full of ideas I can't decide.
I'm excited to see all your makes!
I was also thinking that that black viole would make a beautiful chemise à la reine!
I am finishing up a cinderella dress for my daughter, and a HANDSOME fitted 18th century banyon for my husband. Right now I'm not sure what I will make for myself next, but it's going to feel a treat, for sure!
I can’t wait to see the court gown 😂😂😂
OMG! We had the same sheet set when I was younger! 😂
So many fun plans in the future! Cannot wait to see them all in action! So funny, I actually have the Edwardian blue dress on my list as well! I plan to wear it to Costume College this year and we can totally match! ❤
I shall look forward to seeing all your projects! This year I hope to make some Victorian items for everyday use!
Awesome! Rose’s boarding suit is my favorite from the movie. I had to take several months off, just to rest. Just starting back up. Have several blouses to make and am about to start a simple tailored jacket. Going to do the hand tailoring, just make it lighter weight so the jacket isn’t heavy.
I’m sew, sew (😉) excited to see the projects you choose for the year to come! That purple silk you showed for that one 1890s (?) fashion plate is gorgeous! Not that it matters one whit, but that is my favorite shade of purple. I also am tickeled at the idea of a regency court dress. I don’t think I’ve watched that video, so I’ll check that out next. But that seems so fun and a creative way to do a Brigerton dress! Whenever Rose’s boarding dress gets made, this year or next, I’ll be there with bells on! My personal aesthetic doesn’t really fall to all the fancy stuff, but if I were to make one fancy outfit for myself, that would be it! I’ve salivated over that dress ever since I saw that movie the week it came out, lol! I also am enamored with that yellow and blue checked material. I love bold patterns and colors, and you’ve made some of the most amazing dresses in plaids and stripes that I could look at all day. Peppermint bustle, Sleepy Hollow, that red plaid bustle dress just to name a few. Whenever this one happens, I know it will be beautiful! I also think that butterfly fabric is absolutely perfect for 60s. If that happens, I’m so curious to see your creative vision. I know I’m leaving stuff off, and my comment is too long anyway, but I wanted to thank you for sharing your plans with us! Whatever gets completed will be awesome to watch unfold. I am grateful you share this journey with us. Take care.
I was thinking chemise a la reine for the black fabric before you said it!! That would be so gorgeous. 🖤
Ooh, love both the coats!
So excited to see any and all of these.😊
You should get set up a business (LLC) and get your wholesale license so you can buy your fabric wholesale.
There is a company called EE Schenck you can most likely purchase fabric wholesale. There is a youtube I recently saw which shows what their company does. Or even, maybe contact them and see if they would let you advertise for them and use their fabrics. They have so much fabric, you would be in fabric heaven! Worth a try!
I love your channel BTW
So not fair, i see your wall prints, that then send's me down a rabbit holes in the world of vintage dresses.. I am making my first 1880's bustle gown. But keep changing my mind on the over skirt. So have decided make the over skirts detachable, so i can swap them round depending on what event i am going to. The fabric, is a Black heavy weight poly/cotton with sewn black pin stripe with small rose's as base fabric, with deep purple ascents and trimmings
The first outing will be for a Steampunk weekend at a Working Stream Train venue, end of June, here in the UK. Then to hitch up the front over lots of petty coats, for a pirate weekend in July. Sadly we do not have as many events as you do.
We have a "Party like it's the 90s" themed birthday party & I have nothing 1990s (not even jeans), so I'm making a butterfly hennin to go with my Burgundian - 1490s style.
Still on the list: purple velvet version of 2B's dress from Neir Automata
Wish list: probably at least one more Tudor kirtle in a neat fabric (possibly dinosaur fabric?)
Oh my, I think my sis had those sheets and made curtains. Did anyone use them exclusively for their bed? 🤣
Your plans are marvelously extravagant. I'm going to enjoy every minute!
For the black viole I was hoping you’d say chemise! It could look amazing during your cemetery photo shoot (I’m picturing it like an era bent color reverse Lady Dimitrescu with a big white hat and accessories)
love these! We are doing some theme events with the family so have to make my little ones outfits for that. And some more everyday dresses for me.
I just found a teal( think peacock color) silk/poly mix taffeta, i want to make a midieval kirtle with a white wool or corduroy over dress for a wedding dress! (For my non-existent wedding...)
I'm in the middle of making a Victorian Walking Skirt out of some suiting wool I bought and dyed (the brown was a lot more grey when I brought it home so I warmed up the colour with onion skins), right now I'm procrastinating some seam ripping of the lining because I had more fashion fabric than I thought so will have more pleats in the back. For that one I'm using my favourite machine, the 1914 hand crank Jones Brothers "Victoria". Then after some mending and tackling an UFO and getting a sewing machine or two repaired, I want to try making swimsuits for myself and my husband before our July vacation to the cottage, I'll be patterning off a swimsuit I have had since my teens for me and... well, he started this because he hates swim trunks and wants something more like a s Speedo so we'll see how that goes, I guess I start wtih a pair of his briefs? And meanwhile I'll be finally setting up a craft room, going through all my stash fabric and deciding what needs to go and what gets to stay. I've also got a September deadline to make a purple linen medieval kirtle and I want to use the rest of that fabric to make a simple rectangles-and-gores medieval underdress, if I do it right I might not need sleeves for the kirtle :P
So excited for your Recency court dress! I’ve never seen someone make one and am genuinely looking forward to it. My big goal is to complete the main pieces for my Elizabethan design of Orym from Critical Role!
My current plans are two reformation era kirtles one blue one red and a smocked shirt to go with them (almost finished with the optional blackwork trim).
Currently working on a pirate shirt a la Ora Lin. A dragon wizard cape and robe for the kiddo
Do the 17th Century! 🧡💙
More people should make English Regency court gowns. They're just so wonderfully ridiculous.
There's several of us planning to do them!
May-July - Regency project, might be snow white, might be one of my Eras tour redesigns, not sure atm and really depends on what I can find fabrics for.
August-October - Elliott's Coat from Stardew Valley and Haunt Couture Draculaura because I have a con that I want to wear Elliott to that time of year, and Draculaura will be a fun halloween sewing project
And I just need to Remake Holographic Janet's vest from the good place and she's ready to wear which will in theory be a nice simple thing between to finish between bigger more complex projects
Tempted to make myself a lavender princess dress over the summer/December for no other reason that I want one.
The pink coat was lovely, great job.
Ok Meet me in St. Louis led me down a frockflicks rabbit hole and there is a poison green train dress that Angela Lansbury wears in a movie called "the Harvey Girls" that you have to look up because it is amazing. Also, watching your plan videos always reinvigorate my sewing mojo. Really excited about your projects, especially that MMISL dress.
I love the Harvey Girls!
I'm doing jeans and pants and possibly shorts.
I still want to do historical dresses, but with baby #3, buying yards and yards of fabric for 1 item is not in the budget.
Joanne's sales are my best friend at this point.
Right now the only actual planned item that I have all the supplies for is an early Edwardian walking skirt. I am going to visit the Biltmore Estate (I call is one of our American Castles) in May and I truly hope I have the time and energy to get it made before the end of April. I do have a 1940's dress cut and ready to sew.... um... skirt, yes the skirt first! --- I love all your plans and I too, one day, hope to make the Boarding suit from Titanic.
Ooh, that would be awesome to wear to the Biltmore. I'd love to visit there someday.
I have just looked at that 1875 fashion plate and thought to myself - hm, its plaid, would Rebecca make it?
Also, the color of your new evening dress is wonderful and I look forward to the autumn silk-velvet dress.
I love Meet Me in St Louis! The 1940s versions of Turn of The 20th Century costumes are sunning! I've wanted to make Esther's Trolley Song ensemble for a while!
Maybe a gown from somewhat later in the 17th century, say English Civil War or Charles II? (or Louis XIII/3 Musketeers for France?)? "The First Churchills" and "By the Sword Divided" are 2 PBS miniseries which would both show plenty of 17th-century English costumes. (Morgan Donner is a Costuber who has done a bit more 17th century-style costumes, and probably would be knowledgeable about how historically accurate the costumes in those miniseries are.)
I would love to get into historical costuming as you are so inspiring! However there are no events in Sydney to wear the outfits. So for now I will continue with mid-century-ish sews and wear them at antique shows and fashion markets. I'm hoping to make a 1930s teal velvet coat with a faux fur collar for our winter in July :)
Thank you! There may be other costumers near you, as I have certainly met/seen a lot of costumers online who are in various locations in Australia.
The blue day dress would look amazing with a sew/clip-in gathering of blue silk roses for the evening, just a whole garland full of them to fill the space. It wasn't uncommon for Victorian ladies to decorate thier dresses with extra fresh flowers or even a whole posey tucked in their cleavage so it wouldn't be a stretch to be live they would use silk ones if they could afford it.
I agree that your titanic dress was not appreciated at Comic-Con. You should have included hand dyed in your description. I remember watching your videos on how you hand dyed it and it was amazing . Judges seemed to favor more fantasy and anime.
I made my first corset last year but it's a little wonky so I need to fix that. I also want to make a chemise and drawers so I have some bare minimum undergarments. And I'm going to make a late 1830s-early 1840s day gown (more of a working class style that I can wear daily). I also have two completed pieces that I need to fix but those are back burner
Ooooh chemise ala reign (sp!!)
Maybe, rather than going for historical accuracy for the Renaissance Faire, go ‘Victorian fancy dress medieval/renaissance’? Kinda obviously and tongue-in-cheek? That way it’s in a style you actually enjoy while capturing the ‘feel’?
Good luck with Rose Boarding Dress . I made this dress ( Jacket and skirt to be exact ) in 2022. Also, in 2022 I made Deck Dress . In 2024 I made Rose Tea Dress .Now I thinking .... what else I should make !?
The dinner dress? 😉
I thought you did an amazing job on your Rose outfit, but perhaps ECCC was not the right event for it? Titanic is not really comic, animation, animè, manga or gaming. Perhaps it was just the wrong audience. I am concerned that the Boarding Suit wouldn't be appreciated there either. 🤔 It would be a shame for you to put so much effort into it, for hardly anyone to 'get it'.
Your Barbie creations are always fantastic and seem to go over very well.
I am still waiting for you to announce your 'Granny's Toilet Roll Cover project though 😅
Dear Rebecca, as a beginner sewist (though I'm a senior citizen) , I've been admiring your talents for many months now. I'm not far from you, in a major Pacific Northwest city, but have had a lot of trouble finding good fabric shops in my area. When you refer to "the fabric district", where do you mean? I seem to only have access to basic big box craft stores, unless I travel to British Columbia or California.
What am I missing? Thanks for all you've taught me in your videos.
Unfortunately, I mean LA. I go every year when I'm down there for costume college.
14:20 I would call that chartreuse
All the projects sound fantastic. Have you ever thought about making a male costume for yourself? I have thought a few times, about making a male regency outfit for myself, just so I don't have to wear stays. Still thinking about it.
I haven't. I've just never been interested in male clothing compared to female.
Hi Lady Rebecca, I am excited to see you at the Port Townsend Victorian weekend in April! Are you in Washington State? Where do you shop for your fabric locally? My husband was just diagnosed with Melanoma so I want to sew him a lot of linen hints for the summer. I just spent an afternoon in Seattle and could not find anywhere that sole pure linen or silk. Do you shop in Portland? Thanks for any info you can provide! I love your videos and was so impressed with your Titanic coat!
I live in Port Townsend. Downtown there is District Fabrics with a good selection of 100% linens. It's on Water Street.
Thanks! And yep, I'm in WA State. Unfortunately pretty much what we have in this area is just Joann's (though they do occasionally have linen). There is one Pacific fabrics left in South Seattle which may have linen, and as Crystalsidyll mentioned, District fabrics in Port Townsend has it. Otherwise I would recommend buying your linen online.
Can you do a fabric whole video where you show the show and the fabric and the shops love them
You mean like when I purchase the fabrics?
Yes would love to see the fabric shop and all the different fabric if that possible
@pcdragonblue I've shown that in my costume college videos, and I'll definitely be including it in this year's Costume College video as well.
@@LadyRebeccaFashions thank you as a cosplay love seeing all the different fabric and how you create fabulous costumes them with the amount of details and love you put into them 😊
Looks at fabric for summer dress, why not make cute accessories to match summer dress with it?
Regency court hoop gowns were a fashion atrocity 😅
Ok I have no idea how you get done what you do cause that's a long list! Remember that you are supposed to build in some taking care of yourself time into your schedule! Remember to have fun while trying not to run yourself ragged!
I definitely was keeping that in mind when making these plans! 😊
When you refer to "the fabric district," which one do you mean? (LA, NYC, etc)
LA
Rose costume unappreciated? Correct me if I'm wrong. Did U not win judges choice? No small feat, methinks. Ciao
Nope, that was for Katrina.
@@LadyRebeccaFashions We loved it, and U looked beautiful in it. I could see Rose when U wore that outfit :)) Ciao
@@bittersweet3- thanks!
