You obviously have never driven a Chieftain or heard one at full chat......this one is bit poorly, not running on all bank's of cylinders L60 can sound amazing, mostly in its later service life , but not this example....
These engines where shit and still are shit. Under powered for the weight of the wagon. Would breakdown if you looked at the wrong. Would do cyclinder liners in the blink of a eye. Plus they took for ever to change. Ps this 1 sounds like a bag of shit. I worked on them in the late 80s early 90s
Glad I never had to work on these when I was in. That engine was that tanks Achilles heel.
Still the best sounding engine
@@jjt1093 Dunno, the Chally/Craarv pack sound throaty.
@@DieyoungDiefast Yeah they do for sure But the chieftan has like old school Grunt ya know. Hear it coming from long off and run LOL
@@jjt1093 This one isn't. Sounds really rough.

Nearly all Chieftains smoked like that. The Chally injects diesel into the exhaust to get the same effect!!
Who was that shouting at the end there?
The bloke whose leg had just been sucked into the Rootes Blower, renowned for eating gloves, hats, overall legs etc,,,
Sadly that L60 engine needs some work on her but great sound.
Nothing like being marked up on the battle field that L70 engine was shit

Could do a pack change in under 2 hours with a good crew and if everything went smoothly.
