If you're older and you're just getting into smartphones for the first time, if anything is ever too complicated Don't hesitate to ask some people you know to walk through some stuff. That's pretty impressive. The a35 5G is even faster. So it sounds like anything the a25 up is going to be enjoyable for you. And now Samsung is providing updates on all of those things. That's a great video you've put out and I was meaning to get this phone to replace an old phone I have that's having major charging issue due to it's charging port but decided to hold out for the upcoming Samsung A35/55 which is speculated to be better.
    Do you think I should?

    • @AndroidDigest
      @AndroidDigest  3 месяца назад +6

      The one upgrade you're going to get is power. And maybe a couple of extras, like water resistance or something. The a35 has the same processor as the A54, which is on sale at Best Buy for $375. I actually got one open box for $300 today at Best buy. And the A55 will be a step up from both of those. But price is the key. Assuming they come to the US (I heard they will announce the phones on the 11th. But it may take awhile to get to the US), it's $264 for the A25. It is $375 for the A54. It's $400 (probably) for the A35 and it would be $500 for the A55 (again, just a guess).
      It's all about your budget. And your expectations. Do you need water resistance? And what type of processing power do you need?
      The A25 can be pretty fast. On rare occasion it will have a bit of a lag moment. But it can be gone through pretty quickly. The A54 and 35 should be a lot better for that. The screens will be pretty similar overall. It's mainly just about getting a little bit of a performance bump.
      If you're coming from a $100 phone or a worse phone, you just have to ask yourself how much money you're willing to spend. And you have to ask yourself how important water resistances, and also a little extra power. If you need those things, you could always get an a54 today, even an open box excellent condition for like $300. Or new for $375. Or just wait and get an a35 and probably get something that's basically the same thing. For $400.
      It's really all about what you're willing to spend. And also, if you're with a prepaid, look for deals on them. Obviously if the prices are different than when I said, that may tip the scales a little bit

      @@AndroidDigest Thanks a lot for taking the time to explain blow-by-blow aspects of these phones but the other obvious thing which made me skip the A25 was it's got just 128 GB under it's hood from Amazon UK(where I do all my purchasing) though they have 256 GB in the Middle East and other regions but these phones the A35& A55 will both have 256 GB for the European region as well and 128 GB to upgrade from what I have been using doesn't make all that sense to me as opposed to double capacity plus going by indicators better voice quality and processor.

      The a35 and a55 if I'm not mistaken offer eSim which both the a15, a25 don't offer. The a35 and a55 don't have the built-in usual Fm radio app (purple square with the white radio inside the 'Samsung' folder) due to the abscence of the headphone jack on both a35, a55 as the headphone headset wire serves as the antennae, just something to consider while these cheaper a15 and a25 do have built-in FM radio as they both have headphone ports.

    Got this as my first Samsung phone. So far I am pleased, but I was surprised that it didn't come with a proper charger, also I don't think it came with any kind of pre-installed screen protector, either. So I had to to be really careful not to damage the screen for a couple of days, until a screen protector finally arrived.

    • @AndroidDigest
      @AndroidDigest  Месяц назад +2

      That's actually a pretty normal thing nowadays though. Sadly. But it is. Once Apple introduced not putting a charger in the box like 5 years ago, I think Samsung followed about 3 years ago. But they only followed for their high-end phones. Eventually Samsung and almost every other manufacturer, they followed suit even on budget phones. But that's been within the last couple of years

    • @AndroidDigest
      @AndroidDigest  3 месяца назад +3

      Not at all. It all depends on what you're used to of course. But I think it's pretty reasonable. You could look at my performance in the video to see for yourself. Most of the time I'm showing footage of me using apps that are already opened previously. But yeah, if you open up a new app you might have to wait a second or two. It's not bad at all. It also depends on what you're used to. What phones have you used in the past? If you let me know when a separate comment, not attached to this, I'm more likely to reply (I often filter by comments I haven't replied to). But I'll be happy to compare this to phones you've had to give you an idea.

      It's really really hard to compare. But I'd say it's pretty close. iPhones from years ago are still slightly faster than some Android phones even from today.
      So this should have a better screen. A higher refresh rate. In some ways it will feel smoother. Probably similar cameras. So I'd say it may be comparable. Better battery life in the a25.

      The realme does beat it out as far as specs. It's slightly faster, more ram in the base model, better specs for the money. But not by a ton. Maybe 15% faster. Screens are similar. It's mainly a performance thing. Not sure what type of software support you'll get from realme. But it's normally pretty good from Samsung. So there are some pros and cons, but I'd lean realme. Thank you so much for the review. I was initially going to stay with Motorola. I currently have a Moto G Stylus 5G (2022) but the screen is cracked. For what they want to fix it I'm better off getting a new phone. I did find this phone that you reviewed at a Micro Center store for under $250. I was initially looking for a Moto G Power phone but it seems to be popular, especially the 256GB version from 2023. I think I'll sacrifice storage for now for the price instead. I can always get a 512GB micro SDXC card to improve the memory storage on the phone. I'm just hoping it's easy to transfer my files/photos from one to the other. Thank you for this great review! • @AndroidDigest
      @AndroidDigest  Месяц назад +1

      Honestly, that's tough. The S10e was one of the good flagship choices years ago. Now you're looking at budget phones from today. It's sort of a tough comparison.
      If size doesn't matter to you at all, the Galaxy A35 5G, Galaxy s23 FE, both of those will be very good options. Also the Galaxy s23.
      Your phone had absolutely awful battery life and even though these aren't the best battery lives in the world, they will still be a lot better than what you had before. All of these phones will have better cameras, etc.
      Basically, these phones are in this order:
      2: Galaxy A35 5G (still very good), 1: Galaxy S23 FE/S23 (these phones are pretty equal. Pros and cons to both)
      With all that being said, price is a factor, you may find the a355g for a very good price, if you do, that may be a good differentiating factor for you. I'm actually dropping review on that phone tomorrow.
      Coming from the phone you are, I would at least go for the A35 at a minimum

    • @AndroidDigest
      @AndroidDigest  29 дней назад +1

      You're going to get slightly better performance out of the Motorola. You will get a better screen out of the Galaxy. I lean towards the Galaxy though because the a25 actually had pretty decent shots on the camera in my opinion. But I think the big differentiator is going to be updates. I think you could go either way honestly, but the one thing that really draws me to the Galaxy is the software updates. Even with the a series lineup Samsung has been providing a lot more updates and a lot more timely updates. Motorola with their budget. Phones only gives one big operating system update and normally they delay it almost a full year or more. Samsung has been much quicker and I normally give at least an extra year of operating system updates, like 2 years at least, plus more security patches too. That makes me lean towards Samsung. And I'm comparing to the 2024 G Power. I haven't tested that yet, just going off specs

You can set what times they can use it, restrictions, you could even force them to ask you to download every single app. And you can control how long they use each app. Even if you don't want every restriction, even if you want to say very few, at least you will be able to lock the phone at any given time.

      Galaxy A35, Pixel 7a, Galaxy A25 or 6a.
      This is my order. Why? The A35 is pretty much an A54 in disguise. Except one thing I noticed recently, I was having some accidental touches on the a54. This happened on two different units. I thought it was possible the device was lagging with a little bit of overheating, and sure enough overheating issues were confirmed by GSMArena. Apparently those were fixed with the A35 and I'm using it now and it has no overheating issues. The A35 is newer, will get more updates. And it's fairly equivalent to the A54. • @AndroidDigest
      @AndroidDigest  28 дней назад +1

      We are talking extremely massive improvements. Your phone didn't even have a 1080p resolution on the screen. It's 3 years behind as far as Android operating system updates. The processing power on your phone is literally less than half of the power of this phone. And your phone only came with 3 GB of RAM which really slows down a lot of multitasking.
      This phone has a better resolution, double the ram, double the processing power, double the refresh rate, so the screen refreshes faster as you're scrolling. And the cameras are much better. If you are fairly content with your phone, I don't think you'll have to do much better than the a25 because it will blow you away probably compared to what you have. The battery life probably won't be significantly better only because it has more power that it draws and a lot more going on, but it also compensates for that with a newer battery since you will be buying it new. Hopefully this helps

      It's pretty much a lateral move. It's a lower end phone, but it's a newer phone that's a few years newer, so it's going to be more advanced in that way.
      If you look at the specs, and benchmarks and stuff like that, it's going to have about the same performance as your a52. I'd say it's going to be pretty close across the board. Of course the battery life is going to be a little newer.

    Would you say this phone is an upgrade on a Samsung galaxy S10?

    • @AndroidDigest
      @AndroidDigest  2 месяца назад +5

      That's a really tough question. And honestly, I would say no. In some ways it will be much better, the battery life will be a lot better. It has a higher refresh rate so the screen will seem a little bit smoother while scrolling. But whenever you own a flagship phone, even if it's from 5 plus years ago, the cameras and the processing power are still going to be better than a budget phone of today.
      And sometimes, people will come from those flagship phones with higher expectations on power or cameras and get disappointed.
      Sometimes a good way to make sure you're not disappointed in that situation, if you're really on a budget, might be to get a Galaxy S23 or S23 Plus on the used market. That will allow you to get better cameras, more power, and help save a few hundred. The S23 lineup is also recent enough that any used device won't have a bunch of battery wear on it.
      You could also do what I do, and pay the $150 for a Best buy membership. Any device you buy from Best buy during your membership will have two years of insurance, that even covers damage, assuming you renew the second year too. So that's a good way to get insurance and not only on your phone but on other devices you buy like tablets laptops and even things like a Bluetooth keyboard would be covered.
      But, if you do drop your expectations a little bit for cameras, if you really want something new, and you can drop your expectations for performance just a little bit, you'll get a phone with an SD card slot, a headphone jack, and a much better battery. And if things like that are very very important to you. It could work out really good.
      I still think there is a very important place for budget phones and for mid-range phones. And there's a lot of people especially using prepaid phones now that will see this as a massive upgrade. But since you came from the highest end phone out at one point. I'd be careful with your next upgrade

      @@AndroidDigest turns out that my issue was the charger, I bought a charger head because the phone only came with a C type - C type(these new chargers) and the one I was using that week was a fast charging charger which was not good, I then switched to a different "normal" charger head but with the same C type - C type cable and then battery didn't drain as much

    what's a good used phone for a 100 dollars ?

    • @AndroidDigest
      @AndroidDigest  Месяц назад +1

      Honestly, this is an extremely hard thing to answer. I guess it depends on the person's expectations. I'm sure technically you could get one of the better devices if you find a older flagship phone. But it won't get security updates and things like that. And there's a risk with the battery. May be being super old. Or you can get a device like the Galaxy a15 5G used. Maybe a Moto G power 2023, you could find devices like that open box right around $100. Otherwise you're looking at a really old flagships like a Galaxy S10 or something like that. And some of those older phones could have burn in with the screens or really bad battery life, especially since they've been used for like 4 or 5 years

      Definitely. But retails at $500. A25 is $265 right now. And funny. I definitely can't promise that video with the iPad very very soon. But it's on my radar. It might be a couple months though. I've got the S9 plus I'm working with now, for a few videos. Plus the 12r I'm actually going to be reviewing. And I might do an a9 plus accessory video. • @AndroidDigest
      @AndroidDigest  7 дней назад +1

      Honestly, I keep most reviews pretty positive. I tell all the negatives as I go, and for those listening that get annoyed by them, they normally make up their own mind to say no. But I try to factor in the price. Most reviewers are just saying "bad phone" "go buy a 5 year old flagship phone with no software updates and a terrible battery". They just demand you use flagship phones or else. Because most of these reviewers haven't bothered to use mid-range phones or lower end phones, they can't put their mind in that perspective. So I try to review budget phones and give a perspective of a user who uses them. Hope it helps. Dropping my moto g stylus review this morning at 9 am! So trying to cover a lot of mid-range or budget phones and a lot of android tablets too.

      In previous years, a lot of international markets have had a 4G LTE version and a 5G version. The 4G version typically has worse specs. So sometimes I would simply reiterate by using the 5G term. Because I don't want them to confuse it with the 4G LTE model if there is one. I didn't do that every single time because I think I did it enough in the video so no one would mistake the device. But yeah, there are plenty of Galaxy A phones, with an LTE model and a 5G model. Normally those phones were released internationally though

    • @AndroidDigest
      @AndroidDigest  23 дня назад

      I guess that depends on what price you find it at. And where you live. In the US, there aren't too many. And not many devices that will get 4 years of OS updates like this. Motorola phones can be a great bang for the buck, but they often only give 1 OS update, after a LONG time of waiting. Maybe look for sales on the Galaxy A35 5G or the Pixel 7a. I'd pick the Pixel 7a over this, by a small margin. And the Galaxy A35 is better, if you're lucky and get it closed to the same price.

    • @AndroidDigest
      @AndroidDigest  2 месяца назад +2

      It really depends on what you're comparing it to. There are some phones with the same battery size that last less time than this phone. But obviously, a lot of lowering budget phones with a lot less powerful processors, and really really poor screens, all of those components will take less power so of course those phones will have better battery life. This phone has far better battery life than the Pixel 6a for example, and a lot of phones at this price. But of course if someone is coming from an older A phone with a 720p display, or a very slow processor, of course those phones have better battery. Because those phones don't take a lot of power to run. I wouldn't say battery life is a negative at all here. Any phone with a 5,000 mAh battery is a positive especially when I'm typing this message on a Galaxy S23 that literally has about 20% less battery size
