    Interesting selection Brendon. Except for the AC/DC and Deep Purple I cant say I have heard these albums, I kind of left most these artists way back when, just after their heyday really. I tend to get to a point where I get a bad album then simply never go back or they just take too long and I move on. And to be honest my tastes have also gotten heavier as I get older (although my tastes have also got wider, so some stuff I used to dislike, I'm now going, "hey that's actually ok".) Haven't heard that Pink Floyd so I'll give that go and some of the others you mentioned a listen too.

    I like your list and some in your list are in my list too (or were at least considered.)
    Okay. This was hard, since I make a top 10 list every year and narrowing them down to 10 overall is impossible. To make it easier on me, I'm not including Metal albums, even though if I did include them, a few would make this top 10 list. So, just Rock/Hard Rock are included. Also, I have some honorable mentions too since they are worth a mention.
    1. Styx - Crash Of The Crown (2021) - This was fantastic. My favorite of theirs since at least Paradise Theatre. If this were released during their heyday of their '70s / early '80s classics it would fit in nicely with those. (I say the same thing about The Mission too, which makes my honorable mention list down below.)
    2. AC/DC - Power Up (2020) - Great album. My favorite of their since at least The Razors Edge and quite possibly since Back In Black.
    3. Scorpions - Rock Believer (2022) - IMO, their best since Love At First Sting. It was a great return to form and was nice hearing a new Scorpions album and liking it from start to finish. Haven't had that since their classic heyday.
    4. The Who - Who (2019) - Love it so much, I bought 3 different versions to get all the songs and bonus material. It's my favorite of theirs since their heyday of classic albums of the late '60s/early '70s.
    5. Billy Idol - Kings & Queens Of The Underground (2014) - I agree with you. This is a great album and it is my favorite of his since Rebel Yell. Return to form for him.
    6. Rod Stewart - Blood Red Roses (2018) - My favorite of his since at least the '80s. It was a fun listen all the way through.
    7. Kansas - The Absence of Presence (2020) - Just wow! This one came out of left field for me. At the time, somewhere prior to release, I missed the announcement that they were releasing this new album. I happened to be in Walmart a week or two after release and I saw it in their skimpy music aisle. I bought it on the spur of the moment and was glad I did. This album is their best since their '70s classic period. Enjoyed it from start to finish.
    8. Keith Richards - Crosseyed Heart (2015) - My favorite Keith Richards solo album. Another one I enjoyed from start to finish with no weak tracks. Fun album to listen to.
    9. Def Leppard - S/T (2015) - Agree with everything you said about this. This is the closest they've gotten to the Hysteria/Adrenalize period. Breath of fresh air for me considering everything else by them in between the late '80s and 2015 were mediocre at best.
    10. Bruce Springsteen - Western Stars (2019) (IMO, his best since Born In The USA and that is saying alot.)
    Honorable Mention (In No particular order):
    Styx - The Mission (2017) - At the time of release, this was their best since their classic period, until Crash Of The Crown topped it (barely.) This one stacks up to their classic albums too, like Crash Of The Crown does.
    Cheap Trick - We're All Alright! (2017) - Fun album that I think tops their previous album from the year prior and is better than their most recent one too. Regardless, they've been on a nice comeback streak with their 3 most recent albums.
    David Bowie - The Next Day (2013) - Loved it when it came out and it was my favorite of his since Let's Dance, until Blackstar
    David Bowie - Blackstar (2016) - This one tops The Next Day and was a great album for him to go out on, sadly.
    Mammoth WVH - S/T (2021) - Great debut by Wolfgang Van Halen and enjoyed every minute of it, even though I'm not a big fan of modern rock, in general. Can't wait to hear his next new album in little over a month.
    Paul McCartney - Egypt Station (2018) - One of my favorite albums from him, period. He knocked it out of the park with this one, IMO.
    John Mellencamp - Sad Clowns & Hillbillies (2017) - My favorite album of his since at least 2010, if not longer. Of his recent 4 studio albums, this is definitely his best.
    For Deep Purple's 3 most recent studio albums of new material, I think they are all worthy of honorable mention with all 3 similar in sound and enjoyment. But if I were forced to pick just one of them, I would probably pick Infinite (2017). But, Now What (2013) and Whoosh! (2020) are very close behind.
    (I could easily add a few more to Honorable mention, but I think I'll keep that at 10 too.)

    I think the best thing about AC/DC was the magical return of Brian Johnson's voice. He soungs 20 years younger on that album. Crash Of The Crown is a real departure for Styx, I wish it would have been longer. It was awfully short, more the length of an EP. I have Endless River but it really doesn't seem like a Pink Floyd album to me. Of course, you know my top album would be something you don't like. 😁 To each their own. Enjoyed your show.

    • @BrendonSnyder
      @BrendonSnyder  Год назад +2

      Styx Crash Of The Crown is 43 mins. You should be well aware that is vinyl LP length. Most bands are returning to making albums that fit on a single record. I actually really appreciate it as I think the 75-80 min albums are too long. I’d rather bands release albums more often that are shorter than doubling up and waiting longer in between.

    • @topographic1973ify
      @topographic1973ify Год назад

      @@BrendonSnyder Guess I'm spoiled because so many on disc are longer now. I know it's a vinyl length but I personally have never had a problem with longer albums. That could be because of my background in classical music where some of the pieces can get longer also. The funny part is that most songs by my current guilty pleasure (who shall remain unnamed for your sake😁) don't put out songs that are over four minutes long, generally speaking. However, they do put a lot of songs on an album. By the way, if you want some raunchy rock 'n roll there's a song called DON'T LET ME DOWN that has some pretty filthy lyrics from a female point of view.

    Hey Brendon idk if you have done a video on this or know of one but how do you get rid of the sticky on hype stickers? Recently started to save them but don't know how to get rid of that

    • @BrendonSnyder
      @BrendonSnyder  Год назад +1

      When the stickers are on the cellophane plastic wrap, I just cut them on and keep them stuck to the plastic. If they are directly applied to the jewel case then it becomes a very carful peeling attempt. The slower you peel the less likely the hype sticker will tear and you will be able to remove it in one piece and without residue. If residue is left, I will use a piece of “masking” tape to repeatedly stick and un-stick to the residue and the stickiness of the tape will lift it off in most cases. That’s about as good as I can explain it until I can show you in a video. I’ll definitely consider making one as I know this is an issue. I’ve certainly had to deal with it too.

    Well it would be wrong to comment on these choices because I have not listened to any of them. For me however Ac/dc ruled with Bon and since Back in Black they have been phoning it in as have Pearl Jam since Ten.

    Interesting List, thanks for sharing. I think Saxon and Judas Priest have put out some consistently good stuff

      Both are metal bands. This is a “Rock” Top 10.

      @@BrendonSnyder I know they are metal bands. I just was making the point how consistent they both have been. In fact probably alot more consistent than some of the bands on your "ROCK" list. To be honest I don't know why I'm even replying to you. Sure your the guy that thinks it's ok for Steven Tyler to adopt a young girl to have sex with her. Is that what the adoption process is for? What did Tyler say in his book about her..... There wasn't a hair on it and your response is that it's all ROCK N ROLL. Says alot about you....

      I like the new Winger but it doesn’t blow me away like these other albums. I even considered their last album Better Days Coming. That said I decided to leave Glam Metal bands off the list. Def Leppard and Bon Jovi are exceptions became like GNR they rose above the genre to just become rock bands.

    This comment is not a knock on you because I love your videos and I think you’re great but this video makes me extremely sad!!!! I guess what makes me most sad is that they’re all old bands. Gone are the days when a new rock band can actually put out a album that’s good. Really when is the last time that a new rock band could headline a festival? All the rock bands that can draw people are fucking dinosaur bands. In other genres like country guys like Morgan Wallen (been around for a little over 5 years)can come to any town and bring in thousands and thousands and thousands of people. when is the last time a rock band could do that? Also what’s sad is and don’t get me wrong these albums aren’t bad but in a decade like the 70s 80s or 90s would any of these even be in the top hundred? Not on my list 😳🤕☹️👎

      These are all albums, that for me are modern day classics and yes rank very high and out perform some of the “classic” albums of these bands original eras. But regarding modern rock bands, it’s not that non of them aren’t good and can’t drawn large audiences, they’re just different than the style of music from the 70’s and 80’s, and their version of rock doesn’t excite me as much. But I’m sure you’d find younger music fans who would disagree with me.
